  • “Everything at the cottage was as it said in the advert.”

A lovely peaceful haven from which we enjoyed our holiday. We certainly hope to experience this lovely cottage again.

The property

In the pretty village of Upwey in Dorset is this incredible semi-detached, Grade II listed, 17th century thatched cottage, looking as though it's come straight out of a fairytale.

Encompassing all that a quaint country cottage should be, this property has stunning original features, like the parquet wood flooring, exposed stone walls, barn-style doors and a grand fireplace.

The front of the cottage is home to a delightful sitting room where you can spend a quiet evening in front of the woodburning stove set within the stone fireplace, you will look forward to returning home each day to this comforting room.

A beautiful country-style kitchen is the epitomy of cute, a rangemaster takes the centre stage and will be a joy to use when catering for the group.

Sit at the breakfast table and keep the chef company before heading into the dining room where you can gather around the dark wood table opposite the decorative fireplace.

Two double bedrooms lie upstairs inkeeping with the quaint cottage theme with pretty floral bedding and exposed wooden beams in the walls and ceiling, supporting this spectacular and historic property.

Benefiting from a bathroom on each floor, the ground floor has a bath with hand-held shower, while the first floor shower room contains a walk-in shower cubicle.

When the sun is shining head outside into the picturesque garden, bursting with flowers and shrubs and enjoying a pleasant lawn space, you can sit out on the garden furniture and take a moment to yourself to relax.

Step into the village of Upwey and enjoy some tea and cake at The Wishing Well, where once George III sought the benefits of the natural spring water, now an established tea room and water garden.

Start your journey on one of the several footpaths that lead out of the village and take you into the vast Dorset countryside for some wonderful views and scenery.

Snooks Cottage is a special and unique property, a holiday experience in Dorset not to be missed.

About the location

UPWEY

Dorchester 5 miles; Weymouth 4 miles.

The picturesque village of Upwey lies just four miles north of Weymouth, nestling beneath the Dorset Ridgeway, and takes its name from the shallow chalk stream, the River Wey, which bubbles up here from an underground spring. Upwey is well-known for its Wishing Well, where George III once sought the benefits of the natural spring water. It is now a delightful tea room, serving lunches and traditional cream teas. There are a number of footpaths leading directly from the village to miles of unspoilt countryside, and close by is the market town of Dorchester, Thomas Hardy’s ’Casterbridge’. An easy drive or bus ride takes you to the popular seaside resort of Weymouth offering visitors glorious golden sandy beaches, excellent watersports facilities and a bustling harbour. An attractive village location and an ideal place to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
