“Quiet Corner Cottage lived up to it's name completely and was the perfect break both I and my partner needed, having both lost a parent each recently among other life difficulties.”

    ...

It literally had every item conceivable in a self catering capacity and offered everything required for a comfortable, pleasant and enjoyable stay in a beautifully quirky cottage. The highlight for me was an easy to use log burner which was amply supplied with extra logs (additional charge if using more, as we did, but very reasaonable), kindling, newspaper, firefighters, long matches and lighter. When lit it happily burned for quite some time before needing to be stoked with more wood and provided such a lovely homely feel on top of the glowing warmth. It was secure, off the beaten track and car parking sufficient for 2 cars, up a farm track with a gated entry. You then enter the cottage from a small walled garden, again with everything a garden could offer for the summer. Peter, the host was outstanding from first meeting him and being guided in all you needed to know to being treated respectfully but on hand throughout our stay to the parting goodbye on leaving. He also furnishes you with a bottle of home made apple juice, award winning and you can taste why. He is a fountain of knowledge and in my opinion, a true gentleman with great regard to ensuring your stay is in every way perfect for you. One of the very few truly great places I have stayed in and without doubt will be returning here many times to come. Genuinely couldn't recommend Quiet Corner Cottage more to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing stay in a home from home setting.

About the location

HENSTRIDGE

Sherborne 7 miles; Shaftesbury 10 miles.

The little village of Henstridge can be found right on the border of Somerset and Dorset, at the head of the lush Blackmore Vale, used as the backdrop to Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbervilles. Surrounded by glorious countryside, Henstridge is well served by a shop, pubs, restaurants and a cafe and offers lovely walks accompanied by fine views. The village is ideally located for exploring Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire, as within a short drive lies the historic town of Sherborne, famous for its abbey and castles, and once home to Sir Walter Raleigh. Close by are a wealth of National Trust properties, such as the stunning Stourhead House and Gardens, while the nearby hilltop town of Shaftesbury, best known for the picturesque Gold Hill, is also well worth a visit.
