Emma “The property is larger than the photos make it look.”
The garden is also completely cordoned off. Very clean and cosy - great sink and sofa. Floors are a little cold especially in the corridor. Easy drive to pull in and out of.

Carol “This was such a perfect base when visiting Dorset.”
Easy to get to Poole, Bournemouth & Sandbanks. The Annexe was ideal for us as a couple & was so clean & comfortable with everything you could possibly need. We really enjoyed our stay, like home from home.
- Carol, July 2021Anthony “The Annexe had a lovely homely feel to it.”
It is in a residential area so very quiet. It has a garden where you can sit in. The location was excellent as it was central to everything. We enjoyed our stay there.
- Anthony, July 2021Mark “The description that the property is located in the coastal town of Poole was a little misleading.”
It is actually in an area called Newtown, a rather busy residential area, where there is a lot of traffic. One of the owners was rude, she simply ignored us when spoken to, which made matters uncomfortable. The property would also benefit from a dressing table. Having said the above, it was the cleanest property we have stayed in, the kitchen area and utensils/cutlery were spotless. The bathroom was equally clean and well equipped. The lounge and bedroom were comfortable and relaxing.
- Mark, June 2021Wendy “Very clean, lovely accommodation and central for getting around Dorset and Hampshire”
- Wendy, June 2021Carol “For those who want to see more nature there are lots of things to see at the Bourne Valley Nature Reserve.”
A little hidden gem. Even a local didn't know it was just across the other side of the road that we spoke to her on
- Carol, June 2021Linda “Nice quiet area, good access to public transport and local shops.”
Poole a twenty minute bus ride.
- Linda, June 2021Stephanie “Better instructions on location of property”
- Stephanie, May 2021Ann “We enjoyed our stay here very much.”
We had everything we needed to make us comfortable. The freezer certainly helped in these present times. Hope to return.
- Ann, April 2021Geoff “We had high expectations due to past holidays with Sykes, and The Annexe met them!”
All the facilities were provided and the decor is extremely attractive. The Annexe is close to the Coop and not too far from Tesco and buses to Bournemouth and Poole Centre. Very clean and well looked after. We had everything we needed. Did not actually meet the proprietors in the bungalow, but we knew they were always available. Good choice of TV channels, drinks and biscuits provided on arrival along with tea bags. Quiet area. Visitors' book full of very positive comments!
- Geoff, September 2020Karen “Lovely personal touches, but take your slippers as floors can be cold.”
- Karen, February 2020Janet “Fantastically appointed annex, just right for a couple, had every thing you need to stay home from home in comfort.”
The welcome goodies were great and a very nice touch. We came from Canada to visit relatives and will definitely stay there again. Highly recommended .
- Janet, November 2019Geoffrey “Very good excellent host nothing was to much trouble”
- Geoffrey, November 2019Andrew “The property was far better equipped than most that we have been too.”
We were also surprised at just how spacious it was and we were able to sit outside on the patio under the parasol at the end of May, which was a real bonus! The owner was incredibly helpful and very patient with me as I struggled on arrival to use the front door key. Bizarrely, I never had another problem with it after the first day so I put my incompetence down to our journey and the fact that the door opens in the opposite to mine at home. The only minor issue for us is that the WiFi signal could be intermittent in the living room but taking our tablet into the bedroom fixed the issue every time. Possibly a WiFi extender would solve this completely?
- Andrew, May 2019Amanda “Excellent accommodation and hosts.”
Any problems sorted quickly, really enjoyed our honeymoon staying at the annexe and exploring all that dorset has to offer. This is a hidden gem and it is a ten out of ten from us, would definitely came back.
- Amanda, March 2019Carol “The Annexe was a lovely place to stay.”
Well equipped, clean, cosy. We had a lovely week, with mixture of sightseeing, Kingston Lacy, Poole Quay, and lots more.As well as fitting in seeing friends & relatives. Would fully recommend the Annexe, And hope to return at a later date.
- Carol, November 2018Gareth “It was one of the best in every way that we have ever stayed in.”
- Gareth, September 2018Dale “The annexe is great accommodation comfortable & clean, you could tell the owners had gone the extra mile to put on all the little extras, there's a local convenience store a few minutes walk up the road, as we prefer not to use car the bus stop is only a 10 minute walk away taking you into poole town centre or Bournemouth the other way.”
Poole has nice shopping centre with bars and restaurant along the quay side nearby is the beautiful beach on sandbanks, also Branscombe chine has a lovely beach, its also worth a walk around upton country park . We also booked a trip with condor ferries to Guernsey on thie latest high speed ferry the liberation, what a great day out. All in a great holiday.
- Dale, August 2018Lorna “Although the Annexe is in an housing estate, it is very private and no noise, it was lovely sitting out in the patio area at night after a lovely day sightseeing.”
- Lorna, July 2018Edwin “First Jane and Steve were very good, helpful hosts and the little gifts left for us were a very nice touch.”
The Annexe was a bit off a surprise in that it was exceptional in its comfort, facilities and cleanliness. The kitchen area was also very well appointed and included a washing machine instead off the usual "shared" one. The only thing missing was a vacuum cleaner (for those little mishaps) but we didn't need one. Poole and the surrounding area areas are well worth exploring including Kingston Lacy Monkey World, Studland bay and Swanage (park at Corfe Castle and go on the Swanage Railway - brilliant!!). The only downside is the parking charges which, in my opinion, are expensive. It is much cheaper, though not as convenient, to use the local buses to visit Bournemouth. All in all a very comfortable, enjoyable holiday. Highly recommend The Annexe and Sykes.

We have had a few holidays with sykes cottages and have been mostly satisfied but the annexe has been the best yet it was very well equipped with everything we needed and very well cared for by our hosts would certainly recommend them
- Kathleen, June 2018Paul “Excellent accommodation quiet and peaceful”
- Paul, May 2018Andrew “Nice accommodation in a very convenient spot.”
Owner very nice.
- Andrew, March 2018Caroline “A very nice clean apartment, Host's were very welcoming.”
Lot's of places to visit locally. A very enjoyable break.
- Caroline, March 2018Maggi “Excellent accommodation provided by thoughtful hosts.”
Large fluffy towels - waste bins in bathroom and bedroom - comfortable settee - lots of hot water.....all these may sound trivial, but they contribute to a really relaxed stay. The extra freezer is a good idea, for those who don't want to cook!. Location quiet - within short drive of Waitrose ( and other supermarkets). Also near Waitrose a good Italian restaurant - Alghero. Short walk to a nearby Coop store ( small). Nearby pub failed to have food after 6pm on a Thursday evening, so don't rely on that. But the Indian takeaway opposite the pub did a good curry. Slightly out of the centre, so those without a car would have to rely on the buses. For those who are coming for birdwatching, use Upton Country Park. It was better than Arne! They have a weekly walk on Thursdays ( 10am - 12pm), with an RSPB guide. Lots of birds of sea and land.

Very good location & great value but had to go home 1 day earlier because of bad weather / snow & ice etc back to East Anglia but we will return again
- Manfred, February 2018Carol “Beautiful decor, equipped excellently, even more than home from home!”
Very happy to recommend!
- Carol, October 2017Margaret “The Annexe was one of the most welcoming and comfortable holidays of this type we have experienced.”
The owner was most helpful and had decorated the Annexe very tastefully.
- Margaret, September 2017June “We loved staying at the Annexe, it was decorated very tastefully and it had everything you could possibly want.”
You were made to feel extremely welcome and a lot of thoughtfulness had gone into making your stay extra special from wine, chocolate, cakes and even toothbrushes had you forgot to pack your own. Thank you Mrs. Davidson for the lovely stay we had at the Annexe, we would definitely recommend staying here.
- June, September 2017stephanie “The owner Jane was outstanding!”
She had left little extras such as wine and chocolates, and cream cakes and milk for our arrival. We had dreadful weather all week which meant we had to stay in but were very comfortable in the Annexe. It is decorated beautifully!
