“The only possible criticism was the step to the inner front door which nearly caused some falls.”

It is unexpectedly very shallow and does not stand out very well as a change of level. Not sure what could be one

“Bryony Cottage was such a lovely place to stay- it was an experience in itself!”

The weekend that our family came to stay was truly special and, from the 1 year old to those over 70, the facilities from the trampoline to the snooker table were put to good use! Early birdsong was a treat and enhanced by the call of a cuckoo- a very rare treat for me. We all had a lovely break. Thank you

Would only say that the kitchen could have had a few more items e. G. Measuring cups and spoons for baking. A weighing scale and potentially some kind of blender. The owner was very pleasant and helped us immensely in an unexpected power cut.

“Great place to say for a large family or group visiting the New Forest.”

Ponies and cows roaming outside the front of the house. Big garden with climbing frame / slide etc. great fun for young children. Games room had loads of things to do for all ages. Pub next door. Quiet road with good farm shop in walking distance. Covid issues removed some creature comforts from the house, but still worth the visit and good value. Well equipped kitchen and utility room. Enjoyed our stay; thank you to the owners.

“The most lovely holiday cottage, there was nothing we could think of that was mossing.”

Just what we wanted, a home from home that we could relax in with our dog, with a fabulous secure garden. Even though the weather was pretty dire we were able to relax and enjoy the facilities. The pub next door was a big bonus. And thank you to Sykes cottages for all your help, we had to change our week and each time I rang up with requests your consultants went out of their way to help. “We had a wonderful time at Bryony Cottage, thank-you.”

It was a perfect location to meet up and spend time with family and was great for young and old. A real bonus were the roaming ponies and pigs just over the hedge - when we looked the location up on street map there had been ponies on the grass outside but I’d told everybody not to get their hopes up... and then there they were! Pub next door was good for all - vegans and meat eaters alike and the farm shop and cafe down the road was great (top tip - don’t miss the amazing aviary). Finally, the house itself was gorgeous - we particularly welcomed all the space and the fact that it was so generous (no squeezing extra bedrooms into a broom cupboard here). We will visit again!

“This cottage is outstanding.”

We could rave about the garden, the space, the cleanliness, the ponies, donkeys & cows on the doorstep but I would be here all day. It sells itself & if not the review book left in the property tells you that no one has left disappointed. In our review we would like to highlight how fantastic the owner is. We had a maintenance issue whilst being there (no one’s fault, just one of those things). We called Sykes on the number they provided us & before we knew it the owner was round sorting it out. He had a professional on call but he was adamant he wanted to sort it out if he could to save as little disruption to our holiday as possible. As it turned out he was able to fix the fault after having to borrow some tools & he left a token behind the bar next door by way of an apology for the inconvenience. I won’t mention his name on a public forum but myself & my family would like him to know how thankful we are for all of his efforts & generosity. It was completely unnecessary as it was nobody’s fault but little things like that go a long way. Thanks so much from all of us... the kids especially loved the trampoline!

“Spectacular property in a spectacular location with great facilities - certainly at the top of the list of UK cottages holidays we have stayed in the UK.”

Provided a great base for exploring the New Forest and was a home away from home when we returned back at the end of each day. Family of 6 staying but house could easily accommodate 8 people without feeling crowded. We'll definitely be returning in the not too distant future.

“Bryony cottage was great.”

The location, space and garden worked really well for a great family get together. Given the price and quality of most of the accommodation there were a few things that let it down. There are only 2 comfy garden chairs, not great for 8 people. The house and patio could do with a good clean / sweep off. The bins need emptying. I appreciate this is because previous guests have not bagged up their waste correctly but this left us little space for our rubbish. Fortunately the bin men took our rubbish mid-week. Overall just a few small things would have meant Bryony would have exceeded our expectations.

“What I most enjoyed was the large dogproof garden.”

We could let her sniff and frolic to her heart's content.I used to send the family to the pub next door and sit out with the dog enjoying the evening sun in perfect peace.The village setting with the duckponds and the ponies coming to the gate is idyllic.The countryside stretching from the door to the heath above has a wealth of interest.We even had a cuckoo in the trees at the end of the garden one morning.The interior is very comfortable and spacious and had everything we needed

“We booked Bryony Cottage for my Big Birthday celebration where our extended family could join us at various times during the week.”

The property exceeded expectations with everything we needed including a large completely dog-proof garden. The bedroom views looking over the heath were a great way to start the day, especially as the weather was better than expected. Plenty of scope for walks nearby and with two great pubs (one right next door) and another one a mile away in Frogham we didn't have to cook in the excellent kitchen if we didn't want to. In summary, highly recommended for a family get away, without a shadow of doubt the right choice for us!

Perfect location, plenty of space and games room was a welcome addition. The garden is amazing and was much enjoyed by our dogs and my 3 year old granddaughter, in addition to being a lovely place to sit and relax! “Bryony Cottage was a perfect location for the New Forest area.”

Short trips to Salisbury and Stonehenge, easy drive to Bournemouth beaches and Beaulieu. The cottage was better equipped than expected and we could have taken less stuff with us. Games, books and dvds for kids and adults and a fun games room. Nice garden with loads of seating and even a trampoline! The Royal Oak pub next door was excellent. We were concerned that the pub would be noisy but we were never disturbed by anything. All in all a lovely house and no negatives.

About the location

FORDINGBRIDGE

Salisbury 11 miles; Bournemouth 18 miles.

Fordingbridge is a traditional Hampshire town on the banks of the River Avon, and offers a good mix of shops, pubs and restaurants, a small museum of local history and a display of original work by the artist Augustus John, who lived here for many years. The medieval Great Bridge, with seven graceful arches, is a major feature of the town. The immediate area is a wonderful place for visitors, with its beautiful scenery, nature havens, cycleways and welcoming people. Fordingbridge is conveniently situated for the magnificent cathedral city of Salisbury to the north, and the super seaside resort of Bournemouth to the south. The stunning New Forest National Park is only 1.5 miles from the town, where you can explore thousands of acres of moor, heath and woodland frequented by wild ponies, and dotted with quaint villages and country pubs. Within a short drive is the magnificent Elizabethan manor house at Breamore, as well as the New Forest Water Park, and a trip to Beaulieu, home of the National Motor Museum is not to be missed. This is a great location for exploring this picturesque and interesting area.
