The baby gate to the gallery stairs was not put up and also not working. The downstairs bedrooms had no shutters on the stable style lock so not only could we not stop our walking 16 month old get up the stairs, we also couldn’t stop her getting out of the bedroom as the door did not close to both ground floor rooms. This was very stressful. Not only this, our decision to take our dachshund was based on there being a stair gate so we could ensure he didn’t go up the stairs yet this wasn’t possible as the stair gate wasn’t up and was broken and the ground floor bedroom doors not closing. Other aspects of the property were dirty and not cleaned and very neglected such as black grouting and shower seals, a dirty toilet and dirty kitchen table, a grubby plastic kettle that hadn’t been cleaned with a dirty handle, no hair dryers. It was really disappointing. The Barn looks nice from the outside and simple and you expect it to be comfortable not neglected or unsafe with basic fire regulations bot met with the broken doors alongside the lack of infant safety when requested and advertised as family friendly.

We apologise for not having the baby gate up and working for you on your arrival.
However, as you are well aware, my husband went out and bought a brand new gate the next morning and installed it for you immediately! Therefore, you were inconvenienced without a stair gate from approx. 7.30pm (your arrival time) until lunch time the next day.
Thank you for your comment on the downstairs main bedroom door latch which has been replaced. The others doors to the rooms all shut perfectly.
We carefully check the grouting and could not see any black grout or sealant in any area of the property that needed attention.
We allow two cleaners for four hours to clean the Barn on each changeover to ensure a high standard of cleanliness. Clearly, we did not meet your expectations at all, which was obviously aggravated by your disappointment at the lack of stair gate on your arrival.
I can confirm that at huge expense, that all of the terracotta tiled stone floors downstairs have been professionally steamed cleaned to brighten the entrance on arrival.
