Axbridge Pods

These two timber pods enjoy a serene location amidst the rolling hills of Somerset, with the Quantocks and Mendip walking trails on the doorstep, just outside the town of Axbridge. Presented to a lovely standard with a private seating area and hot tub, these quaint little homes are perfect for couples eager to escape normality to see what this countryside location has to offer. The pods are accessed via a long drive and are welcoming to pets and horses, however they must be kept on leads at all times. Internally, the pods are presented in an open plan studio style with a kitchenette and a romantic dining area, so you can enjoy home-cooked meals when you’re not dining at a local restaurant. Wash away the day in the en-suite shower before climbing into bed and catching up on a favourite show from the wall-mounted TV. The exterior of these pods is a real highlight; gather round the firepit and enjoy marshmallows on a brisk evening while you wait for the hot tub to warm up, providing the ultimate way to recover after a long day of eploring. Avid walkers will be in awe of the surrounding area, exploring the magnificent Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as well as the Mendip Hills, each providing a special landscape of panoramic views, wilderness and tranquillity. Wander into the Somerset village of Cheddar where you will find a good selection of pubs, restaurants and shops, including many specialist cheese shops selling the renowned Cheddar Cheese, before venturing further afield to the city of Wells, home to the impressive 12th century Wells Cathedral, the historic Vicar’s Chapel and Library, as well as the Wells & Mendip Museum where you can learn more about the local area. However you choose to spend your precious holiday time, return to these inviting pods for an evening of relaxing and rejuvenation.

AXBRIDGE

Cheddar 2.5 miles; Weston-super-Mare 8.5 miles; Bristol 19 miles

A delightful little town placed just outside of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Somerset. Axbridge boasts pretty little buildings and a fascinating history, it dates back to the reign of King Alfred the Great in the 9th century, the village is also home to the 15th century King John's Hunting Lodge which is now a National Trust museum. This picturesque village was in fact the location for the Thatcher's Cider Hot Air Balloon advert! In terms of facilities, Axbridge is home to one of the UK's smallest cinemas with a little over 30 seats, a choice of pubs, a shop and a delightful tearoom. The town also hosts a number of popular events, festivals and carnivals throughout the year which would be worth tying into your holiday! For you more active guests, visit the nearby Mendip Hills with its range of walking paths accompanied by astounding scenery, the Cheddar Resevoir also sits on the outskirts of the village and offers a good range of watersports for you to try. The delightful village of Cheddar is nearby and well worth visiting, especially for you cheese lovers.
