The property

… peacefully surrounded by rolling green fields a mile from Salcombe, a large, detached house smartly converted from a barn in the tiny rural hamlet of Horsecombe, just a 20 minute stroll from the town via lanes/footpath alongside tranquil Batson Creek. Much thought has gone into creating superb accommodation; rooms are spacious and light with oak floors and simple stylish furnishings, most with long views over pony-grazed fields; clever split-level layout offers great flexibility for gatherings of friends and family with six en suite bedrooms and two kitchen/living rooms over two levels (each can be used independently; no interior stairs).

Behind, a large sunny terrace (table/chairs) with 6-person hot tub and, alongside, nestling in the lea of this tranquil valley, a few cottages and the owners’ pretty farmhouse (two B&B rooms available, by arrangement, extra).

Wide steps down to the terrace and ceiling-high bi-fold doors to open-plan living/dining/handcrafted kitchen (two dishwashers, microwave, fridge-freezer, larder fridge, wine chiller, electric oven/induction hob) with woodburner, TV/DVD, large dining table/benches seating 16 and big apex window looking down the valley. Small utility room (washing machine, tumble drier). On this level, four smart double bedrooms (all with 6’ zip-linked bed or twin and TV), three with en suite shower-room (suite) and one with en suite bathroom (suite, shower over bath). Four single folding beds available (by arrangement, extra: £150 per bed) for use in two ground-floor or two lower ground-floor bedrooms.

Exterior access via drive (no interior access) down to second living/dining/kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, electric oven/induction hob) and two more double bedrooms (6’ zip-linked beds or twin), both with en suite shower-room (suite) and glazed doors to drive.

Outside, utility/drying room (washing machine, tumble drier) and small lockable room for your wetsuits/beach gear/bicycles etc. Damages Deposit £300 if selected instead of Damages Deposit Waiver. Arrival after 4pm. Prices are for maximum of 12 people (up to 4 additional people may be accommodated on folding beds at £150 per bed). With lots of space and flexible layout, this is an excellent place any time of year; a relaxing retreat from the bustle of popular Salcombe.

Salcombe: one of the most beautifully sited small towns in Britain, at the mouth of the Kingsbridge estuary, a yacht haven with creeks, sandy bays. Waterside pubs, nice shops. Boats to hire, fishing, superb Nat. Trust cliff walks/gardens; museum, tennis, outdoor swimming pool (in summer); pedestrian ferry to East Portlemouth (lovely beaches, The Venus Café and Takeaway). Thurlestone and Bigbury (golf), 6 and 8 miles.
