The property

... set back from the main street in Charmouth, about 7 minutes' walk from the beach, The Old Manor House is beautifully refurbished, 16th cent., Grade II listed, a comfortable and elegant family house, decorated and furnished to a high standard. Steps from courtyard to large, enclosed and perfectly private, beautifully landscaped walled garden with plenty of grass and sitting-out areas (picnic tables, barbecue).

Two steps up from tiled hall to study/playroom with original flagstone floor, comfy seating and French windows to courtyard. Down 2 steps to living room with sash windows and window seat, TV/DVD, iPod dock, good fabrics and huge fireplace (woodburner) with beautiful original carved lintel. From the study, 2 steps up to well-equipped kitchen/dining room (two dishwashers, microwave, fridge-freezer, large range-style cooker/gas hob, iPod dock) with big oak table, woodburner and beams. Step up to utility room (washing machine, tumble drier, sink) and door to a courtyard. On the other side of the hall, good-sized snug with TV/DVD, pool table, games. At the back of the house, shower-room (wet-room suite with double cubicle) and cloakroom area - ideal for brushing off sand and storing buckets/spades.


Wide, easy stairs (stairgates) up to large landing with window seat and four carefully decorated bedrooms – a double (6' bed); one with three singles; a single; and step down to a twin which is also accessible from the back stairs. Step down to bathroom (bath, separate shower, washbasin) and another step down to loo in original Victorian water closet.

Second flight of steep, narrow stairs (stairgates) twists up from the dining room to the fifth bedroom – a comfortable double (5' bed) with en suite shower-room (suite with walk-in-shower) and, across the tiny landing, a door to the twin room, making this suitable as a family suite.


Owner pays for public car parking for up to three cars from 21 July to 1 September. Arrival after 4pm. Damages Deposit £500. A wonderful, owner loved and cared for property, an excellent base for exploring this delightful area at any time of year.

The Old Manor House in charming Charmouth was a perfect place for our family Christmas holiday. It is very well decorated and furnished with super comfy beds for a restful nights sleep. Extremely well equipped kitchen made preparing and cooking meals a pleasure. Situated in the heart of the village knowhere is far to walk. The house had a dressed christmas tree ready for our arrival and a few festive decorations around the main rooms. We would stay here again.
