Dunnett Farm Cottages

A pair of charming, stone-built barn conversions sat on the fringes of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the idyllic village of Compton Bishop in Somerset. Placed in an idyllic location with views towards Wavering Down and Crook Peak from which the cottage's names derive, it is the perfect stay for a group of five ramblers to come and make the most of this incredible area. Both cottages are charmingly decorated and come with homely and sociable open-plan living areas providing snug sofas, TVs and wonderful woodburning stoves to create the ultimate relaxing space after a day of walking and exploring. The kitchen areas have a rustic feel to them with wooden units and multi-coloured tiled walls, as well as offering all of the appliances that you will need during your self-catered stay. All of the bedrooms rest under the sloping ceilings, they are well-presented and are accompanied by characterful antique furniture to create that traditional cottage feel. The Dunnett Farm Cottages also boast pleasant gravelled gardens to the front, with plenty of seating for you to sit with a drink or even enjoy some alfresco dining. Nearby Axbridge is a splendid little town offering a shop, tearoom and choice of pubs, as well as rich history dating back to the reign of King Alfred the Great in the 9th century awaiting be discovered in the National Trust museum of the 15th century King John's Hunting Lodge, as well as attractions such as the UK's smallest cinema and festivals and carnivals to see throughout the year. A delightful little town placed just outside of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Somerset. Axbridge boasts pretty little buildings and a fascinating history, it dates back to the reign of King Alfred the Great in the 9th century, the village is also home to the 15th century King John's Hunting Lodge which is now a National Trust museum. This picturesque village was in fact the location for the Thatcher's Cider Hot Air Balloon advert! In terms of facilities, Axbridge is home to one of the UK's smallest cinemas with a little over 30 seats, a choice of pubs, a shop and a delightful tearoom. The town also hosts a number of popular events, festivals and carnivals throughout the year which would be worth tying into your holiday! For you more active guests, visit the nearby Mendip Hills with its range of walking paths accompanied by astounding scenery, the Cheddar Resevoir also sits on the outskirts of the village and offers a good range of watersports for you to try. The delightful village of Cheddar is nearby and well worth visiting, especially for you cheese lovers. The seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare is also within easy reach if a day at the beach is what you're after.
