“We really enjoyed are stay at Starling Lodge.”

The Lodge is fairly spacious and in a nice location. The views from the Lodge are amazing. The owners both Jo and Neil are really nice and are on hand should you have any questions. The only thing we found that was very slightly negative to us was that the large sofa is on the low side and a bit difficult to get up out of. Saying that it didn't in any way ruin our stay, in fact we are planning to go back next year. Thank you Jo and Neil. We would definitely recommend this Lodge.

The property

This luxury lodge, which is one of four identical houses, is nestled in open countryside, with idyllic views of the Somerset hills and Glastonbury Tor.

Starling Lodge, located a mile outside of Wedmore village, is a peaceful retreat for families and couples wishing to enjoy Somerset's natural beauty.

The open-plan living space, which includes a fully equipped kitchen and bi-folding doors that bring the outdoors in, is sure to be social hub of the home.

Pop open a bottle of fizz and serve a home-cooked dish at the dining table or take the evening outdoors to the patio furniture, where you may enjoy alfresco dining amidst the glorious Somerset levels.

After a long day, relax on the plush sofa and catch up on your favourite shows on the Smart TV, or relax in the hot tub whilst you ponder where to visit next.

This rural retreat has three wonderful bedrooms: an upstairs king-size room with an en-suite, and a downstairs king-size and children's bunk bedroom that share a fully equipped wet room.

Visit Percy, Albert, and Jeffrey the alpacas, as well as Minnie and Dottie the miniature ponies, on the other side of the garden fence.

You'll enjoy excellent walks or cycle rides in the immediate vicinity, which are set in a rural setting with amazing views of the surrounding countryside.

Take a beautiful journey up to the spectacular Cheddar Gorge, where cathedral-like caves house 9000 years of human history, or ramble through the Somerset lowlands, Mendip Hills, and Polden Hills.

Puxton Adventure Park, Longleat Safari Park, Brean Leisure Park, and Brean Water Park are all recommended for family days out, or while you're there, try your hand at Cheddar Crazy Golf and visit The Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company for a cheese keepsake from the birthplace of Cheddar!

Birdwatchers should visit Westhay and Shapwick Heath nature areas, while cultural heritage can be found at Wells Cathedral and Glastonbury Abbey.

Clarks Village is close by for anyone searching for a designer bargain, and a trip to Somerset wouldn't be complete without a stop at Thatchers Cider, which has a restaurant and shop, or Wilkins Cider Farm, which is more rural.

Taunton, Bath, and Bristol are all within an hour's drive of each other, making them ideal for day visits.

However you choose to spend your time, Starling Lodge is a wonderful retreat, whatever time of year.
