Great house ,decorated to a high standard.

Lovely welcome gift of cream tea and pint of milk. The location was perfect to access everything. The decor was warm and welcoming with lovely finishing touches. Well appointed kitchen with everything you needed to prepare food. Only niggle was would have veen good if there umbrella was available to use and some parts missing on the hoover making it hard work to hoover up

Perfect location, fully equipped with everything you need, beds really comfy. Would thoroughly recommend and would return to this property when coming back to the lovely Appledore.

Beautiful house.

Right on the front so 2 of the bedrooms had an incredible view. Super clean. Everything you could need. My family and I loved it. Right next door to John’s for groceries and a delicious selection of prepared foods.

On arrival at this cottage, we were thrilled at how beautiful it was and what a totally fabulous location.

The facilities are great and it comes with everything you'd ever need and more! This is really "home from home" with extras! We will most definitely be returning and would highly recommend it. Everything you need is within walking distance if you don't want to drive, but if you do, explore this amazing coastline.

A lovely cottage in a great location.

We loved it here. Everything you could need was provided in the cottage, a great kitchen area, well stocked for cooking. Dog items too! The treads on the stairs were narrow but just be aware & take your time. We managed to get parking on the street every day. I was a little concerned with being next to the cafe/deli & thought the dog may bark but we never heard a thing. She only barked twice the whole week. The housekeeper alerted us to a slight problem in the downstairs bathroom prior to arrival, this didn’t affect us. Great contact from the owner & it was sorted quickly. Loved sitting on the quay morning & evening, watching all the boats. We will return. Thank you

The property was lovely.

Perfect for access to the prom and well equipped for self catering. Bedrooms and kitchen/lounge well equipped and comfortable. We were disappointed that the second "bathroom" was a utility room with shower and toilet and as I specifically needed accomodation with two bathrooms this was adequate but not the same as a bathroom. The outside courtyard/patio was unusable due to general dirt and pigeon droppings and the back patio window was filthy. However the inside accomodation was good and we had a brilliant holiday enjoying taking cups of tea out onto the prom seats overlooking Instow and watching the world go by.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Location was brilliant.A few things could be improved. The outside area needs a tidy up and maybe a touch of paint. The bedroom on the second floor was freezing cold and the radiator couldn’t be adjusted Apart from these issues everything else was good

We loved staying in this centrally located cottage next to the water for a week in February.

The property is beautifully laid out and spacious, perfect for a break for two couples or a small family.

I'm always wary of extra positive online reviews, but the cottage was outstanding – and more than we could have hoped for.

The space has been configured really well, the kitchen was really well equipped (we like to cook so it's important to us) and the beds comfy, We know Appledore well but the location was perfect - seeing the sun come up over the hills, walk to the pub or stretch our legs along the coastal path, it was brilliant. Although we had to stop ourselves doing a 'Fantastic Mr Fox' and tunnelling underground to steal all that delicious food next door at John's. So if it asn't clear yet, we would definitely recommend.

This was a very convenient property and A1for all mod cons.

Parking could be a problem in summer months but in September we managed to find a slot nearby every day. The stairs are steep for our generation (80's) and we were very glad that the owners had put in a new handrail after suggestions from other tenants. The proximity of the Deli next doors and eating places all nearby was really good

Ideal situation for views across the estuary, eating out shops etc the standard of accommodation was excellent nothing forgotten.

This property along with the excellent service of Sykes was excellent.

I would give it top marks for everything

The house was well equipped and we didn't need to take anything extra.

Lots of stuff for our dog. The cooking facilities oven and fridge were excellent. No trouble parking. Such a beautiful village. Will cone here again.

This is our favourite house in Appledore.

Right overlooking the quayside so you wake up and see the river view - lovely whatever the weather. Beds are super comfy and the house has everything you need. Can’t wait to stay again

Quality fittings and furnishings. Kitchen was very well stocked with all equipment you would need. Beds so comfortable.! Location, perfect. As we were there over New Year it was busy but able to park in public car park within 5 min walk. Would highly recommend this

Loved the cottage, loved the location.

Very impressed with the equipment and fittings. Everything you need and everything catered for: TV's, wi-fi, shower, and kitchen equipment are all bang up to date and good quality. Even the beds are comfortable, which we always see as a real bonus! One grumble - the outside space, which we knew was going to be small, seems to have been completely neglected, certainly no attempt to clean it, sweep it, weed it etc before our arrival, which was a real shame, as we were staying during the mini-heatwave and we would have liked to open the bi-fold doors fully and make use of it. Like i say, a small grumble, otherwise really enjoyed the property.

As a couple both,around our mid sixties, we felt that the lower stairway would benefit from at least one handrail to assist ascending and descending in a safe manner.

Great location, lovely house, will defiantly stay again.

Fabulous location with view across the river.

Stylish & comfortable. No problem for us but stairs are steep with no handrail. Housekeeper was very responsive when we had a problem with the heating. Fantastic village with good pubs (with live music) & great bus service.

Great location plenty to do in the day, and busy enough at night to make a great holiday. Facilities are good and the owners have a dog so it was perfect for us and our mutt. Great views and a deli next door, perfect

We had a really nice time in Appledore.

This is our third time to North Devon and our 2nd time in Appledore. We really enjoy jumping off the Quay, paddle boarding and walking around the area. This time we didn't even move the car all week, the weather was a little breezy for the beach but the river estuary was perfect.

Lovely house, really enjoyed the central location and to be able to sit outside and watch life on the estuary with a cup of tea was amazing.

The shower downstairs is a little small and the overhead shower head was slow the massage shower heads were great. Paul text about the scaffolding which was fine, but it did block the views, which was a shame as it did spoil the fantastic view over the estuary to Instow. The bed on the top floor could be the same the first floor front bedroom which was really roomy and so comfortable.

So grateful to the owner for sharing this property It has been modernised to the highest standard.

So very comfortable and central location in a beautiful village. We borrowed the crab bucket and my 9 year old niece was delighted to catch 4 crabs. Can't fault. Thank you

Absolutely lovely house in fantastic position.

Incredibly well equipped and has everything you need. We loved it. Needs a new bread bin but if that's the best complaint you can come up with then that tells you what a superb place it is!

This is a well-appointed, modern conversion of a quayside, 3-story terrace in a very popular north Devon seaside holiday town.

It is directly next to a good mini-supermarket which provides everything one needs for a successful stay. In front is the waterfront and a rapidly changing tide which floods in over the estuary. (A family needed to be rescued from the sands by the RNLI whilst we were there.) The property has been decorated to a high standard and is equipped with many modern innovations - some of which are quite difficult to use. There is an instruction book regarding the heating, showers, monster fridge and ice-maker, lights, IT, TV etc. (We never did get the hang of the kitchen taps; nor did we get the TV working.) Two bedrooms and main bathroom/toilet on first floor; twin on the third floor up a narrow staircase (handrail could be improved). Second shower/toilet/washing machines on ground floor.There are lots of gadgets in the kitchen - many duplicated. Not very much working space if six of you intend to self-cater - though there are lots of take-away fish and chip shops and burger bars in the vicinity. We were there in COVID July and the main tourist season (ferry, music, etc) did not seem to start until the end of the month. It was very busy. Cars parked on the quay did not move all week - so we bought a weekly car-parking pass in the public car park. The town is very pretty in its pastel colours and still has a shipyard; but most of the houses are now holiday homes and there is little in the way of interest in the way of local shops. Bideford is close by and we visited the Burrows Nature Park, Instow, Saunton Sands, Ilfracombe and the Valley of the Rocks, Bucks Mills, Hartland Point and Hartland Quay. The beers are mostly local - which is OK for a week but there could be more variation. We enjoyed the week but after that we would be looking further away for something to do and the resulting car travel would be troublesome. Nice spot - pity about the holiday-makers.

We were the first to stay here and it was obvious that Paul had gone to tremendous effort to make sure that everything was perfect for us.

This included big fluffy towels and pans of every shape and size in the well equipped kitchen. We all fell in love with the fridge freezer. If you like to cook on holiday its perfect, especially when you can get fresh fish from Serene Skies over the road. My husband and myself had were on holiday with his parents who like a bedroom each and this fit the bill perfectly as all 3 bedrooms were comfortable doubles with plenty of space to unpack. The location is perfect, right on the quayside and we loved the ever changing view when we opened the bedroom curtains on a morning. Appledore is a lovely little village with some lovely places to eat and a few nice gift shops to browse. All in all a fabulous 10 nights in this wonderful home from home. I'm sure we'll be back.
