We had a lovely stay at monkbarns.

Entry to the accommodation was easy. Parking convenient on the driveway. The location was also good with a good bus service if you wanted to leave the car. The handy park 2 mins from the property was great to walk the dog. Ivan and Vicki were lovely to chat to. We particularly liked the balcony off the bedroom and as the weather was hot it was pleasant to sit out in the evening. One small recommendation would be a grab rail in the shower. I felt the step was a little high for short people getting in and out safely. A walk around the harbour to the breakwater bistro is a must for us we also eat there when in brixham. Yes we would stay here again. Sue and ron smith and willow the dog.

Returning guest to Monksbarn never disappoints

I love staying at Monkbarns.

The bus stop is just a short walk away, which transports you into Brixham, if you want to leave your car behind and use the bus instead. There the bus No 12 will take you to Paignton/Torquay and Newton Abbot. You can alternatively have a very scenic downhill walk to Brixham a lovely seaside town. The owners live next door to the property and are extremely helpful when and if required.

2nd time at Monksbarn , lovely comfortable furniture and bed , good selection of cooking pans and crockery, and a good shower, Ivan the owner is on hand if needed and very friendly and helpful, plus nice goodies on arrival, thank you very much Ivan and Vicki xx

The house was warm and cosy when we arrived in lashing wind and rain on a January afternoon.

The house is fitted out to a high standard, comfortable and easy to keep warm. Ivan is a friendly and welcoming host and he came round the first day to make sure everything was OK for us. He also advised us on places to eat etc. A handy bus stops only yards from the house and continues into the town, taking only 5 minutes. Highly recommended.

Comfortable, cosy bed, good shower.

Easy keyless entry/exit door. Lovely new saucepans under cooker. Short walk down to town. Great to have parking. Only negative is that the pillow protectors need a wash.

Small but excellent accommodation for two of us and the dog.

This is our third visit just before Christmas to set us up. We are booked again for next year. Good location for Brixham and surrounding area. Good owner on hand if necessary.

Lovely place to stay beautiful walks, bus stop just outside so don't need to use car if you don't need to very friendly host ,sorry we missed you before we left,thought we would leave Friday night to avoid traffic I would definitely stay again

We couldn’t fault Monksbarn , we’ve been with Sykes quite a few times, but this property was by far the best for comfort, lovely comfy bed and sofas, well equipped kitchen and a good shower.

Will definitely be returning.

The property was so clean and comfortable. Well equipped and nice and warm! The owner is kind and helpful and we appreciated the treats left for us on arrival. Being able to park on the drive is a real treat in Brixham! We loved the balcony overlooking the owners lovely garden and the sea and enjoyed our breakfast and evening glass of wine, a bonus for October! This is an excellent property and we have already booked for next year! Highly recommended!

! What a great place. Really impressed with the holiday home for our weeks stay in Brixham. Ivan personally greeted us very soon after our arrival just to make sure that we were ok and settled in. Some welcome goodies on arrival and loads of little personal touches to the home to make sure our stay went as smoothly as possible. A park on the doorstep to walk our dog and a bus stop close by as well. Plenty of woodland walks and a footpath leading down to the town of Brixham. Lovely views out to sea from the park and great views from the little balcony at the back of the house as well. All in all we were surprised how good Monksbarn was and hope to arrange another stay in the near future. Highly recommended by ourselves. For the record for anyone with back or leg problems, there are a couple of steps into the house ….but these are very shallow and for most (like ourselves who have mobility problems) the steps were not a problem at all. Parking is right outside and off the road. ENJOY YOUR STAY. !!!

The bathroom does need an update, we would definitely stay again, and recommend to family and friends.

The cottage was very comfortable and had all the facilities we needed.

The owner came around to make sure we had everything we needed and told us to contract him if we had any problems,which we didn't. A very relaxing place to stay.

Monksbarn was a gem of a holiday let.

From the welcome and help from Ivan on arrival, to the accommodation, which was well equipped and very comfortable, we had a fantastic holiday and look forwarding to returning. The balcony was an added bonus to enjoy a glass in the evening given the beautiful weather we had.

Situated in a stunning location so close to Brixham harbour with many different walks available from the property. Ivan, the owner, greeted us on arrival and couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this lovely property to anyone thinking of visiting the area.

Monkbarns is ideally situated on the outskirts of Brixham, especially for dog owners and those who enjoy walking.

There is easy access to nearby public open spaces, the SW coast path and the town centre. Monkbarns is a lovely, compact and well very equipped bungalow. It is spotlessly clean and had everything we wanted for our holiday. There is off-road parking for one vehicle - we only used our car once during our week-long stay. We would thoroughly recommend Monkbarns without hesitation.

..Was excellent for our stay in Brixham/Torbay...the cottage was very clean, lovely layout and the extras on arrival were very much appreciated... Just add a waste bag in the bin. Make sure you take the details of the cottage with you when you first go out...or make sure your sat nav works...their are two Northfield Lanes? Fantastic stay...highly recommended.come on you Robins!

Monkbarns is perfect for a comfortable break.

Close to amenities and on a regular bus route. For dog owners, there is a lovely park and walk literally 30 seconds away from the property. The facilities and furnishings are of high quality. My only constructive criticism , would be the absence of curtains and door curtain in the lounge to give a more warm and cosy feel. Other than that , really comfortable. Met the owners who were very welcoming and friendly. Thank you

Great location.

A really lovely place to stay, the best being the balcony through the bedroom, even though it was October we sat out there quite a bit.

The bed was comfortable, we didn't feel cold but we could turn the heating up if needed. Just perfect for two people with a dog. There was a few parks around for that early morning dog walk so that was great. We didn't really cook a lot of meals( so many lovely restaurants and dog friendly) but the oven was perfect for when we did. A small saucepan would of been handy though, as there was only a big one. And we did have to go and buy sponges and washing up liquid. Although everything was clean everywhere else the bathroom just needed a little extra cleaning, the blinds, the lampshade and the cupboard were quite dirty, And no toilet roll. So many things to do in the area, we explored Dartmoor quite a bit. Would definitely stay again.

This was our third visit and it never lets us down. Spotlessly clean and very homely. Nice little balcony off bedroom to sit out on with a glass of wine after a busy day exploring the area. Walk into Brixham a bit hilly but views over sea worth it, also a bus runs hourly from just outside cottage into Brixham harbour till 6p.m. Owners live next door & very friendly, lovely welcome pack awaited us, thanks. Would totally recommend this property to couples. Two interesting NT properties close by worth a visit & the model village at Babbacombe not to be missed!

A bonus is you can park your car outside your property. Dogs are allowed. Wonderful walks around Brixham and beach a stroll away from the home. Thank you to Ivan and Vicki for making us so welcome.

What a superb place.

Ivan the owner went out of his way to provide us with as much information as we would need. The walk from the harbour isn't as challenging as you think, however for” later years” or people with difficulty walking there is a bus stop twenty yards from the property which runs until 1800. Battery Gardens are 20 yards away, so excellent for that quick dog walk in a morning. The property has everything you need. A lovely balcony, which would be superb on a sunny morning for breakfast (we didn't get to use it as it was cold when we visited). Lovely furnishings, very comfortable bed and great parking. Would stay again, most definitely.

Ivan welcomed us on our first day, made us feel very welcome. The property had everything you could need for a self catering stay, loved the teapot! Bed was very comfortable and heating was easy to manage. Was a 15 minute walk into the harbour, be warned, it's very hilly lol Very easy to get to Dartmouth, Paignton and Torquay. Almost feel like I don't want to give too glowing a review in case it's booked up next time we may want to stay! Thank you again Ivan and Vicki

A great cottage in a really good location for us with a dog.

The bungalow was spotlessly clean, well equipped and had a very comfortable bed. In the warmer months the balcony in the bedroom with views of the sea would be glorious to sit out on. Very happy to recommend this accommodation.

As always, the owner was very friendly and helpful. It's only a short walk down to the harbour, and there's always a bus back up if you need it! A lovely place to stay and perfect for one person or a couple. Very clean and tidy and it has everything you need.

Absolutely spotless bungalow in a nice peaceful setting with balcony on the back. Very well equipped, they really have thought of everything and all good quality equipment and furniture,bedding etc. Little bus down into Brixham and back from the doorstep for £2 each way. Will recommend to friends and family and hope to return soon.

Welcome pack was a nice touch.

Cottage was everything you expect it to be. Only a 5 minute to the beach. We really enjoyed the week we had there. When we arrived Ivan the owner was a away for the weekend. But he phoned us to check that we had arrived OK. And to see if we needed anything. Then on the Sunday come round to see if we needed anything. And to show us we're the bin was and explain he would sort out the recycling bin by the front door. Really nice man with a really nice cottage.

Booked Monkbarns without realising that there was no garden for the dog!

But needn't have worried cos there was a lovely dog park round the corner! It's a lovely property. Ivan the host, was a very friendly chap, and explained the bus routes, which was useful cos driving around Brixham town is a bit hair raising!

Battery Garden is a 2 minute walk, with lovely views and lots of seating. Follow the coast line walk to the harbour and take in the scenery. Already booked again for next year.

Just come back from Monkbarns after a lovely week's holiday and the sunshine made it even better if possible!

Accommodation is 'spot on' as is the location and the on site parking is a bonus. We stayed there early last year and although we had a lot of rain it didn't put us off so came straight home & booked it for this year. The little balcony off the bedroom is so relaxing, we enjoyed sitting out there in the evening with a glass of wine and watching over towards the sea. Monkbarns is an ideal holiday property, well equipped & even has a bus stop outside with hourly bus service into Brixham as walk back is quite steep. Very nice Welcome pack of goodies greeted us, much appreciated after a long journey.

What can I say but perfect.

That’s why we keep coming back. Even the dog just got out of the car and walked in as if he was home.

Can't think that there are many locations this close to the centre of Brixham, but with decent off-road parking.

A big bonus if you have a dog is the proximity of a large park, it's pretty much literally next door, plus the opportunity for many walkies around the headlands. The cottage is modern and well furnished with plenty of room for a couple, and the owners are only next door, and very helpful, should you need them.

Ivan sent a text to let us know the property was ready for our arrival. He also came to to introduce himself and ask if we needed anything. Very thoughtful welcome pack. There is a park a couple of minutes away that was great to take the dog for a walk. Just be careful and have the dog on the lead before you come out of the door as the road is directly on the boundary and there isn’t a gate. Lots of lovely walks direct from the property. Plenty of dog friendly places to eat out. Would be happy to visit again.

Lovely holiday cottage with beautiful views from both the kitchen and bedroom windows.

The owner was very friendly and very happy to tell us about the local area. The park was only a few yards from the property so perfect for walking the dog and only 15 minutes walk to the harbour. The weather was superb which helped to make it a lovely peaceful and relaxing break.

The balcony is a real plus, where you can enjoy the peace and quiet with a sea view, whilst you enjoy your breakfast. Also is a plus the off road parking at the front of the property. The bus into Brixham is only a few yards away. Excellent!!

Everything was very good.

The shower and bathroom were super. All the little added features were very much appreciated. We discovered what a valuable bonus the parking space was - we would have been lost without it, apart from the added cost! The wine and chocolates on arrival were a very touching extra. The lovely park about 50 yards away was very much appreciated by Daisy, our Cockapoo. The 10 minute walk right into Brixham meant that we were in a very quiet road but no effort to walk to the pubs and restaurants. Overall, excellent!

A warm welcome to a warm cottage.

The bed and linen was luxurious! The kitchen very well equipped and the added bonus of a dishwasher. An ideal location to explore the English Riviera Clean and comfortable, will definitely go back.

Wow what a lovely find!

This holiday property was excellent, location was ideal with short walk down to harbour where we enjoyed watching the small & large fishing boats returning with their catch of the day. The property was warm and cosy with sky tv, free wifi and the added bonus of a private drive to park car on. Modern decor throughout all rooms. Lounge very relaxing with comfy sofa & armchair, tv & dvd player, also good size dining table plus chairs. Kitchen excellently equipped including full size cooker, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, also view of sea from window while preparing food! Bedroom with double bed & plenty of clothes storage and has added bonus of small balcony with table & two chairs, unfortunately due to weather we didn't get to use it. Bathroom has large walk-in shower & is roomy in general with washing machine tucked in corner. Will definitely make a return visit next year, hopefully during the summer months. Owners live next door and Ivan was most welcoming & helpful passing his knowledge of local places of interest on to us. The owners also provided a lovely welcome pack of milk, coffees, biscuits, fudge & red wine...all much appreciated & enjoyed!! We had a brilliant week even it it ended with Storm Eunice....

What a great place all on one leave instead with a little balcony with a slight sea view and the near by woods also.

Great location to get the centre of Brixham, about a 10 minute walk with the added bonus of near by gardens and wooded area for those who like to walk with their dog or with a partner. They have good amenities and a well appointed kitchen with everything you need to cook a meal, good size fridge freezer to stock up and store provisions and the bonus of a dish washer. Lovely to have basic Sky Tv and a DVD player. They leave a welcome pack of milk, wine and biscuits and a pack of treats for the dog, which is a nice touch and great they are so welcoming to dogs. The accommodations was lovely and clean and protected the furniture width their own made to measure covers. Love our stay and would stay again.

Lovely break at Monkbarns Ivan & Vicki are a delightful couple, on hand for any issues.

Nice place with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Battery gardens are a 2 minute walk away with wonderful sea views, seals and an abundance of wildlife.

I understand that demand has increased due to more people staying in the UK rather than jetting abroad.

Your prices have risen dramatically, effectively pricing out your regular customers. Rather like insurance policies loyalty isn't rewarded, we will be shopping around for next year. Luckily we booked early for this year & the price was about right, certainly wouldn't have paid the revised prices!

We had a great week in Brixham!

The accommodation was ideal for us; about 10 minutes scenic stroll from the harbour (downhill) – about 15 minutes coming back. Ivan and Vicki are first-class hosts, most helpful and knowledgeable and suggested restaurants both in Brixham and in the nearby countryside. Ivan was on hand and responded very quickly to any queries we had which were very few anyway. Glorious views from bedroom balcony across the bay and great sunsets at night. It was a very peaceful and comfortable place to stay and spotlessly clean. It was also very well equipped. Overall Monkbarns is a fantastic place to stay both if you wish to remain in Brixham or tour the delightful countryside and wonderful beaches and coves Devon has to offer.

The accommodation was perfect, and had all the things you need, a lovely balcony to sit on, a great walk in shower, the driveway was great and made life so much easier, the park is 10 seconds away great for walking the dog, and only a short walk to the harbour.

We love it here.

Its the second time we've stayed at Monkbarns, and we have already booked to come again next year. The cottage is comfortable and has everything you need for a great stay. The location couldn't be better and the parking at the front of the property makes it the ideal place to stay.

Long awaited break which had been nearly 18 months since booking.

Just so wonderful to finally be away, Brixham and Monksbarn have really put us back on track. When the pricing structure gets back to normal times we will be back, and all the crowds that would normally holiday abroad have gone. COVID times are different and very difficult but Ivan and Vicky gave us a holiday we thought was never going to happen, wonderful hosts.

We enjoyed our stay at Monkbarns, it was a 10-15 minute walk to the Harbour.

Lots of places to eat in the area, would recommend The Birdcage pub and Simply Fish to eat. We had one problem in the place, no hairdryer, something to be aware of as I didn't take mine as in other places there has always been one. We also could have done with a sharp knife for cutting things like Tomatoes, and fruit as an ordinary knife doesn't do the job. We would highly recommend spending a holiday here.

It was the first time we have been to this lovely cottage, and we weren't disappointed, what great find will certainly try to get back for another visit.

Ideal for walking the South West Coast Path

Well located near to Harbour and all amenities.

Host very friendly and helpful.

The Annex is a perfect base, cosy and well equipped for our every need.

Our only regret that due to stormy weather we were unable to make use of the balcony which was a shame. We have already rebooked for June so looking forward to take full advantage next visit. Overall a very enjoyable break and thankyou to our hosts even if we did support Wales !!!

Nice small bungalow.

Very clean and tidy. Nice touch of extras. If I was being picky bed was a little uncomfortable and I like a window open in bedroom for air but only had double doors. Brixham is very pretty if a little quiet of an evening with most things shutting early. It is well situated for quite a few attractions in the area. Salcombe is well worth a visit. Round robin trip and cheddar gauge walk. Dartmoor as well all around an hour from bungalow. Thank you we did enjoy our stay.

A small but very comfortable property, just a short (if steep) walk from the centre of Brixham.

There is a bus if you can't walk back up, but you would miss the chance of stopping for refreshment at the superb Queens Arms. Great views from the balcony with a park very nearby. Owners are fantastic and really helpful. A couple of small problems were sorted out swiftly and cheerfully.

owners were very pleasant and helpful and friendly nothing was too much for them. The bungalow was very comfy and extremely clean,everything was there that you needed,the little treats were an extra bonus really appreciated. The bungalow was handy for touring either walking or by car. The little bays were really lovely nice walks through the woods etc and it only took us just under 15 minutes to walk to brixham harbour where the restaurants were well good. Been to brixham a number of times but this has so far been the best place we have stayed it even our dog enjoyed the holiday as well would recommend this property.

Despite initial concerns regarding position on a busy road for walking the dog the property is really handy for a local park & it’s only a short walk down to the harbour. Really helpful & friendly owners just next door if needed. Small property but clean & has everything you need for a comfy stay !

All we needed to have a great holiday, helpful landlord close by to make sure we were OK.

Cottage was cosy and comfortable and well equipped, brilliant shower! Plenty of things to do. Two good NT properties close by. The ‘Round Robin’ steam train / river boat / open top bus trip should not be missed. Not good for cycling- too many hills and too much traffic on the narrow roads.

Perfect cottage for us, in terms of what it offered and its location.

Owner greeted us on day of arrival and was very friendly. Spent time telling us about places of interest/walking in to Brixham Harbour/dog friendly pubs for eating/local shops etc. Location of cottage was literally yards away from Battery Gardens - excellent place for toileting/walking the dog. Walked through the gardens everyday to get in to Brixham. Fishcombe Cove was a delightful little bay, again minutes walk from the cottage, café on site and a dog friendly (pebble) beach. Off road car parking. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay, and would definitely go back to Monkbarns if was staying in that area.

Listed as dog friendly but no garden access although a small wood park is a short walk away.

Great position for access to Brixham.

Highly recommended for a couple who enjoy walking.

Dog owners should probably be aware this property does not have a garden but that there is a park a little way away or a beach that can be accessed for the dog's convenience.

arrived at cottage not knowing what to expect as never booked this type of holiday before, Well were we in for a pleasant surprise, the cottage had every thing you could wish for, nice bedroom and bathroom, nice sitting area and the kitchen was fully equipped with every thing we wanted, there was even milk in the fridge biskets and sweets.

5 minuets walk into the town and a hourly bus nearby. Would book with Sykes Cottages again on having seen the standard of their properties.

Fabulous cottage and the owner was very friendly and welcoming.

Perfect spot to walk across the cliffs into town with the dog. We have already booked again for next year.
