Description

New to Sykes! Rushmoor Cottage is a charming countryside retreat tucked away in the peaceful setting of Drupe Farm Court, in the picturesque village of Colaton Raleigh, East Devon. Dating back over 150 years, this former farm building has been lovingly converted into a stylish and comfortable holiday home, retaining its rustic character while offering all the modern conveniences you’d expect from a high-quality getaway. Perfect for families, couples, or anyone seeking a relaxing escape with their four-legged friend, Rushmoor Cottage welcomes guests with a warm and homely atmosphere.

Step inside to discover a beautifully presented open-plan living space, thoughtfully designed for both relaxation and entertaining. The newly fitted kitchen is a cook’s delight, complete with a Rangemaster oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher, and a stylish breakfast bar illuminated by feature lighting. The cosy lounge invites you to unwind with two plush sofas, a feature fireplace, and a wall-mounted smart TV - ideal for movie nights after a day exploring the coast or countryside. A convenient ground floor cloakroom adds to the practicality of the space.

Upstairs, two characterful bedrooms await - one double and one twin - each with exposed ceiling beams that echo the building’s heritage. The family bathroom offers a bath with shower over, wash basin, WC, and a heated towel rail for added comfort. Tucked away on the first floor is a snug little reading room, perfect for curling up with a book or enjoying a quiet moment.

Outside, the private rear courtyard garden is a delightful spot for alfresco dining, with a patio area and table and chairs. A summer house provides a peaceful hideaway, while the surrounding communal grounds offer space for children to play and plenty of walking opportunities for all ages.

Colaton Raleigh itself is a quintessential Devon village, home to the popular Otter Inn, a family-friendly pub serving hearty meals, and a handy convenience store. Just a short drive away, the charming village of Otterton offers riverside walks and a working mill café, while the seaside town of Budleigh Salterton boasts a stunning pebble beach, gentle coastal paths, and a relaxed, traditional atmosphere. Further along the coast, the elegant regency town of Sidmouth enchants visitors with its beautifully maintained gardens, boutique shops, and the dramatic cliffs of Jacob’s Ladder beach, a favourite spot for both sunbathers and fossil hunters.

Whether you're looking for a base to explore East Devon or simply a place to relax and recharge, Rushmoor Cottage offers a warm welcome and a truly memorable stay.

Lovely little cottage and nice and clean.

Nice welcome pack and good grounds and close walks for the dog. Everything we needed to use as a base for exploring East Devon.

Very comfortable house.

Location is a bit offside with very narrow roads in and out of the community and car is needed. The house has all you need except comfortable garden furniture. That shortcome should be easy to fix. Owner was very helpul when asked for additional bed toppers and made substantial efforts to please our request.

The double is not very comfortable and needs a washing machine and an air fryer.
