Crablake Farmhouse

Brilliant family holiday.

6 adults, 5 children and a dog. So much space, really comfortable and well equipped. Kitchen amazing with double oven, massive fridge, drinks fridges and 2 freezers. Outside space was lovely for eating and relaxing - plus watching all the nesting swallows and house martins was great. Good base for exploring the area. Would definitely come here again if we come back to the area.

We had a lovely stay at Crablake Farmhouse.

It easily accommodated the three generations of our family (8 adults and 5 grandchildren) with plenty of space for the children to run around outside, two lounge areas for relaxing in, a large kitchen table and separate dining room (ideal for the adults to it around playing board game in the evening). The bedrooms were all spacious and the beds comfortable. There was a large table outside which we made good use of as the weather was beautiful. There was a table tennis table downstairs and a table football upstairs (the 5&6 year old grandsons enjoyed that). It was a perfect place for a family get together.

Lovely sizeable farmhouse cottage ideal for a family group of 12 like ours.

Children really enjoyed the games room in the house. Owner was very helpful. It was a delight to sit out in the evening and watch the swallows etc flying. Kitchen was great for family meals and chat time. So many places to visit with a nearby store in Exminster to pick up food.

Plenty of space, and the ‘ kids room’ loved by the kids. So well equipped with all you could need if cooking. For tea drinkers, tea pots and tea cosy! Even soap powder for the washing machine. Quiet and peaceful setting. Garden area secure. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed for a family weekend and had a fabulous time.

The property was clean, well-maintained and well stocked with all the necessary kitchen implements, crockery and pans. Beds were comfortable and the property had plenty of space both inside and outside, for the younger members of the family. The location is good for walks and beaches with a great games room for when it is wet, although we were lucky with the weather. We will be returning as it ticked all our boxes for a family get together.

We had an amazing weekend with the family at Crablake Farmhouse and will be back next year.

We had a wonderful Easter week in this amazing old farmhouse.

There were three generations and the children loved running around the garden and up and down the two staircases. Having a sitting room for the adults and a playroom for the children worked well for everyone. The house is a taste of the past but with all of the modern conveniences, often holiday homes do not have enough fridge space but Crablake Farmhouse has a large fridge and 2 wine coolers. There is also enough cooking equipment and tableware to prepare and serve a banquet. We did not really use the dining room as the kitchen is so big and we could sit 12 comfortable around the kitchen table. Set in the heart of the farm the house is surrounded by countryside, a view to the estuary and lots of lambs (at least when we were there). Jerry and his two dogs were really helpful and we had everything we could possibly want. Hopefully we will return one day. Nick, Sylvie and family.

The cottage itself was absolutely fantastic, great views, the bedrooms and the whole house beautifully furnished.

The kitchen was so well stocked with appliances and there was so much space that even with 12 of us who were getting together the house did not feel cramped. We had such a great time we look forward to visiting again. The owner responded to our queries when we were on site and I was great to see the cattle and sheep with their lambs grazing in the fields. We also enjoyed some of the local meat cooking a Sunday roast before we slowly departed savouring as much time as we could. The only issue we had was the communication. With sykes holiday cottages prior to the booking when I had any queries.

This is our second stay at Crablake Farmhouse, we are a three generation family of ten.

The house is spacious, beautifully furnished and equipped with anything you would need. There is so much space for our family to be together and also to have space apart. The children love the games room and the table tennis room. There are ample sumptuous bathrooms/showers and toilets, (no need for queuing!) This house feels welcoming and cosy with the log burner in the main lounge. We all love having our meals around the great pine table in the kitchen, however for special meals there is also a lovely separate dining room. We would recommend this beautiful house to any families wanting happy, spacious times together. We will be returning in the future.

Comfortable beds and linen, warm house even though it’s so large, the best supplied kitchen we’ve ever been to, lovely furnishings, plenty of room for large groups, owner is on hand.

Just some of the things that make Crablake Farmhouse an absolute winner for us. Being a holiday let owner myself, my expectations are high and they were definitely met. We will look forward to returning

Crablake Farmhouse is a large, lovely property easily able to cope with a multi generational family with dogs, as well as visiting guests for a family 80th birthday celebration.

We were at party of 11 friends who came to celebrate my 70th birthday.

What an amazing house! Everything you could wish for and more. So much so, that we intend to come again next year!!. Never been to a holiday home so well organised. Thank you. If Heineken made Holiday Homes....as that old advert used to say! Absolutely brilliant.

The property was very spacious, comfortable and beautiful throughout with a simple elegance and great character, exceeding expectations.

It was a place that was easy to relax in and the owner was friendly and responded very quickly to any query we had. It was a perfect place for a reunion of friends who enjoyed all that it had to offer. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

Our party of seven adults and four children had a fantastic time here, to celebrate a milestone birthday.

The house is large (larger than it seems in the listing), comfortable, well appointed and well equipped. We particularly loved games and the BBQ in the garden; family meals around the enormous dining table; the tranquility and beauty of the setting in the Devon countryside; the kids colonising the games room; and a family quiz in the sitting room. We would recommend this house without hesitation.

Everything we needed. Loads of space, we were 12 adults and 5 children. Kids loved the garden. Beds all so comfortable lots of towels. Kitchen really well equipped. I booked for next year on the car journey home

We had a great stay here with 7 adults and 4 children.

So well equipped - we even managed to make a roast lunch! It was great to have plenty of space to spread out in - including 2 sitting rooms, a room with table tennis, a dining room, and a large kitchen table we could all fit round. This property has the most gorgeous garden. We loved playing games and relaxing outside in the garden. We came in May so we got to enjoy the wisteria which was stunning. There was the unexpected bonus (particularly for the children) of seeing the cows and sheep in the fields. I could also picture it being lovely to stay here in autumn/winter with the fire going in the lounge. There's a small campsite next to the property, but it's super quiet - we didn't hear a thing. The property is detached so it felt very quiet and secluded which was just what we were after. They have garden games and balls available. They've thought of everything really :) We visited Dawlish Warren Beach, followed by fish and chips at 'Frank's Frying' in Dawlish. If we came again we'd like to go on some local walks. We appreciated the small comforts provided like dishwasher tablets and hand soap in the bathrooms. Thanks for having us; we had a lovely stay!

We all enjoyed our weekend break in the lovely old farmhouse.

It was in a very peaceful setting and I've never seen so much crockery and kitchen bits and pieces. The only thing that put us off a little bit, was that you couldn't really walk to anywhere from the house. The road to the farm was very narrow and we thought not very safe for walking our dog to Exminster.

we loved this house, everything about it was beautiful, cosy, welcoming, I would recommend it.

It suited myself and my daughters, their partners and my five grandchildren, we loved meals around the kitchen table and cosy evenings by the log burner. The children loved the upstairs lounge games room, and the table tennis room. We had a lovely relaxed family break together.

An amazing farmhouse, with so much charm, comfort, and grandeur.

So many different spaces to enjoy from cooking, table tennis, the garden, an open fire, and two sitting rooms. In a wonderful calm green natural setting too. Could not recommend more for a group of friends or family wanting to spend some time together. We were a group of seven and it met out needs in every way.

We had an absolutely fabulous time at Crablake for my sisters bridal party.

The house was more beautiful and spacious than we imagined and the table tennis table was a really nice surprise! The owners were extremely helpful and we will 100% consider going back again to stay - hopefully this time for longer!

The farm was fantastic.

Much bigger than we expected. Everything we needed was there. The wood fire was lovely on an evening and the garden great for kids and everyone during the day. Loads of games for kids. Brilliant kitchen to cook and eat in with lots of people. Lots of hot water but we weren’t sure how to put central heating on so some instructs would help although it was warm during our stay and it automatcame on upstairs for a bit so it wasn’t an issue. We had a great stay - thank you and we hope to come again

We would have appreciated simple things like washing up liquid and more dishwasher tablets and some soap in the bathrooms.

The downstairs bathroom had no shelving or places to put toiletries etc. The gardens were wonderful and spectacular and we had a wonderful time

11 of us had a weekend break to celebrate a birthday.

It was perfect. It felt home from home, it had everything you needed, plenty of cutlery, crockery and glasses. The lounge had plenty of chairs for us all to relax in and the bedrooms were very comfortable. All in all, a fabulous house and gardens.

Friendly and helpful owner who was on hand to help with any issues we had.

Great amount of space for our party of 11. Facilities of good standard and enough entertainment when staying in. Good location to explore the area. Would be beneficial to have clothes hanging facilities indoor for winter.

We booked for our family xmas get-together & it we all found the rooms very comfortably - the 4 children loved all the space they had to play with their toys + there were some lovely xmas decorations The owners are delightful people & extremely helpful but not intrusive. My 5 sisters and I spent last weekend in this wonderful house in a lovely setting.

The house was spacious,( would make a great place for extended family and or friends to meet ) immaculately clean, presented perfectly and had absolutely everything and more than we could hope for to make it a perfect place to stay. From the bedrooms, all looking over the fields, to the kitchen, the comfy longe and dining room and games rooms ( competitive game of monopoly not withstanding lol) we were so impressed. Was also nice to meet the owners of the farm and hear about the history of the house. So thank-you to the owners, the cleaners and all involved with looking after the house making it such a wonderful place to stay. We would throughly recommend Crablake Farm, and hope to be back next year

A wonderful interesting and spacious house that is well equipped.

We were made very welcome by the owner. It is situated with great views and well located for Exeter city and a good sandy beach at Dawlish.

Everything as promised Lovely large house in quiet location No tumble dryer-not to important as one can use the lines Slight drawback - in order to go to a beach with kids , you need to go about 30 minutes an d As Devon Council decided to repair all roads in the height of the season quite a bit of queuing Unreservedly recommend the place though

The cottage was absolutely gorgeous.

The layout was so lovely and the location was perfect for our little trip away. The bedrooms were so comfortable and the designs were spacious and well designed. The facilities there were amazing and we had everything we needed and easily accessible. The owners were really lovely and gave us a tour of the cottage and showed us how everything worked which put us at ease. Thank you for letting us stay and we will definitely be back.

Crab lake Farmhouse is a beautiful place, with a very high standard of decoration and well equipped ; where we had a wonderful family gathering.

It is set in the Exe Valley in well kept gardens within a farm setting. Brilliant for bird watching.

Really lovely house and thank you for having us - we had a really great time.

Just a couple of minor recommendations, perhaps could do with mirrors in each of the bathrooms and more toilet roll provided as for so many of us we ran out. The speaker was a little tricky to operate and didn’t connect to all of our phones easily - may need a user guide in the info pack. Also could do with more local recommendations of things to do and places to go.

In going to stay in Devon for a family week early Feb I had a lot to achieve from my brief & in selecting Crablake Farm House we found it all.

A traditional, indeed historic building that’s so very spacious and has clearly been given a comfortable contemporary lift with respect to bathrooms and bedroom in their opulent and gentle ‘country house’ feel. The kitchen is the greatest surprise & pleasure - perfect for cooks & entertaining - with large dining tables in both the kitchen and dining room & the use of volumes of crockery and glass wear. With a mix of grannies & God parents it worked perfectly for us. Points to consider are - there’s a contained double on the ground flooor which is disability friendly but not extreme. My elderly parents appreciated the access this room gave them by being part of the group and near to the sitting room and kitchen. The 2 sets of stairs to the first floor are traditional, carpeted, newly decorated, well lit, but plentiful. When planning bedrooms keep that in mind. Upstairs is fantastically roomy and the equivalence of the room sizes sees nobody given second best. Fresh, polished & breezy! Cosy blankets to snuggle with add to the charm. zzz the bedrooms are great for snoozing and reading too. The views are either rural and breath taking or more local of the animals on the working farm - which is just wonderful to observe on a daily basis. The gated mature garden wraps itself around the house building & was just about to burst into spring bud. Those staying in the coming weeks are in for an absolute treat of nature. There are different areas around the garden to slumber or just sit. I loved listening to the birds dipping & diving whilst enjoying a crisp afternoon tea. I suspect in the summer with all the doors open it would be spectacular at Crablake … I did spy a wonderful outdoor eating area for hazy lunches and late suppers. The locality of the house is rural enough to be in the thick of the countryside but close enough to visit many places and so some of our days were very full. Nobody got lost finding us & everyone enjoyed the ease of ‘coming home’ so quickly. We ate in. We dined out. So well equipped we wanted for little & when we did the owners were just a very cheery call away. Efficiently we did have a local grocery order delivered which worked well & this was supported by a great grocery fridge, 2 wine fridges & some freezers. This house is a warm, loving & easy big ‘home from home’. Not slick but stable with lovely rugs and old polished pieces - that can absorb a mixed aged party with ease. Instructions are around to support making each item work inc the wood burning stove. For little people it’s a safe haven of special spaces inside and out and for wonderful games such as hide and seek and sofa story telling there’s so much scope .. oh to be aged 7 and staying at Crablake! Great memories were made this week & I suspect much is credited to the pleasure of Crablake Farm House. The Devon holiday industry. It appears is busy and this attentive business is right up there showing what the county has to offer in terms of sincerity of service and style and quality of accommodation. Hope this note is insightful. Thanks Jerry & Crew. PS I’d highly recommend booking whatever you do though. Even in February it was busy enough! Kindly forgive any grammatical errors, I’m dyslexic.

This house is AMAZING!

Comfortable, spacious, warm and very well equipped. All at a high standard. Supported by friendly and helpful owners. We had a fabulous Christmas at this house and would be delighted to return in the future.

We had a really nice weekend here despite the terrible early Jan weather.

The house was a really high standard and huge! Bedrooms were all very big with v comfortable mattresses. The house itself has a really nice feel to it. Lots of history. It’s a bit of maze with the 2 staircases but the kids loved that for the hide and seek games. Great facilities and fittings. The kitchen was a really nice social place to cook eat and relax with friends. We normally venture further into Devon/ Cornwall but we all loved the area. We enjoyed MTB riding in nearby Haldon Forest and the kids loved Dawlish and being able to watch the trains whilst on the beach. Highly recommend!

Crablake Farmhouse was the perfect location for our family holiday.

The property is spacious, comfortably furnished, and well equipped, in beautiful Devon countryside. We had lots of outdoor space overlooking fields with sheep and cattle. The children loved watching the swifts and swallows come and go.

Spacious, well-equipped house, where we could come together as a group of 11 or each find our own space.

We particularly enjoyed the views, the enclosed gardens and the chance to bbq. The set up is very practical with plenty places to dry beach towels and wetsuits. Wi-fi excellent which was helpful as some of us had work to complete during our stay. Beds were really comfortable. Fully understand why the duvets are in their own liners, and then duvet covers, but this did mean lots of undoing and straightening - perhaps we're all wriggly sleepers!! Lots to do in the surrounding area for a week - had good food at the Ley Arms and from the Wednesday pizza van in Exminster. Jerry was a great host.
