Lovely accommodation with spectacular views, great facilities and would definitely stay there again

Absolutely fabulous everything was in place to enjoy a great week’s break.

The view from our lounge were stunning.

The accommodation was clean, and it was a lovely comfortable and restful place to stay.

This was our 5th visit to Owl Barn and as always it was pristine & welcoming.

As soon as we open the door & step in it’s like coming home, made more welcoming with the scones, jam & cream, and some milk to boot. Although the weather was not too kind to us, we managed to sit outside on the patio with a coffee & soak up the magnificent views of the Devon countryside with a visit from the sheep as a bonus. We can’t recommend this property to highly, the owners are so kind & friendly too. Looking forward to our next visit.

We love staying at Owl Barn it has a lovely veiw from lounge it’s very quiet and easy to get to we have been here 4 times now and will be coming back again one day there were sheep this time in the field it was lovely watching the lambs skipping

Lovely place to stay with magnificient countryside views To nit pick the welcome pack was a bit sad … pretty milk bottle but not enough for four teas!

And the scones were challenging !!! And a dog bowl wud be nice as its pet friendly but thats nit picking wud luv to stay next year !!!!

Another lovely stay.

The weather was lovely. We had walks on the moor. We were able to explore Tavistock. Owl barn is home from home. Thoroughly enjoyed the scones, clotted cream and jam. Will be back for a longer stay next time. Sue

This was our fourth visit to Owl Barn.

This simple but comfortably furnished, single storey property has stunning views across the valley to Dartmoor, immersing visitors in nature. The wet room provides accessibility for less mobile visitors and a ramp via the patio doors gives easier access for wheelchair users too. The only fly in the ointment with our visit this time was the single lane access road across the ridge of the hill before entering the recently tarmac private road into the property. The unavoidable pot holes are numerous with many being extremely deep, often exposing the lower structure of the lane way . This is not the responsibility of the owners but we understood the council have not responded to the many (and now urgent) requests to repair the road which could cause serious damage to vehicles, indeed our tyre required replacing. Sadly we would not wish to return to Owl Barn until significant repairs have been made to the public lane way. We love Owl Barn and thank the owners for their care in maintaining its rustic comfort and charm.

Everything needed for your break is there.

Comfortable beds and good Wi-Fi. Small enclosed garden, ideal for dogs or children. Stunning view. Nice touch leaving scones, cream and jam, and milk for when you arrive. Been there three times now. Will be back.

A lovely place to stay.

Excellent facilities. Wonderful area to walk the dog within a few minutes walk. Enclosed garden also very good.

This property is very comfy with wonderful views and plenty of home comforts.

The heating was on when we arrived so the property was wonderfully warm and there were scones, jam and cream to welcome us. Lots to see and do in the area and Tavistock is an attractive town. The property owners were very helpful when a small problem arose.

Enjoyed our walks on the moor with the dog and exploring Tavistock. The cottage is lovely and has everything you need. The owners are friendly and helpful. Will be back next year!!

This is our 4th visit to Owl Barn, our very Devon home from home.

From the minute you open the door it opens its arms to you, lovely & warm & cosy, plus the special treat of scones, jam & cream & milk for a quick cuppa before unpacking. Everything in Owl Barn is of the highest quality & the decor is so nice. There is earl the crockery, cutlery, pot & pan you need to stay here even including a rolling pin & weigh scales. We love it here & look forward to returning next year sometime.

The owners were helpful and friendly and the cottage was very comfortable and clean.

Very nice welcoming touch, leaving us the ingredients for a Devon cream tea. Tavistock is on the doorstep yet the cottage is a rural haven complete with couple of horses in the next field and with views over to Dartmoor.

Owl Barn accommodation was absolutely perfect, as advertised.

Spotlessly clean and well equipped. When we had an issue with the internet it was fixed immediately and to our total satisfaction. We can’t speak highly enough of the service we received and the quality of the equipment within the accommodation. The location was splendid and we had a fantastic week. Thank you very much and we do intend to return.

The weather was lovely. So quiet and relaxing. Lovely walks close by. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. Will be back.

This bungalow barn conversion is even better than it looks in the photos.

The views straight from the French doors is idyllic. The beds are so comfortable and there are accessible showers, a toilet frame was also offered. There are 3 major chain supermarkets only 10 min away. Jackie is very helpful. The garden is private and dog friendly. My daughter and I had a very relaxing stay.

The perfect location for views and comfort. The sheep and horses outside your door let you share their world. I definitely hope to be visiting again.

Owl Barn is a quite exceptional place to spend a holiday.

Not only is everywhere very clean and comfortable but the view from the sitting room across the terrace is absolutely astounding. Sheep with their baby lambs as well as ponies, feed happily close by giving one a contented, peaceful environment to relax and unwind. So tranquil and beautiful. Tavistock is a lovely place to explore and love the market. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Everything you need for a perfect stay.

Owner (lived next to property)away on arrival - that would have been fine if we’d known ,but even on their return only accidental contact - most property owners make theirselves known.

Welcome folder (owners phone numbers for queries and help) not as comprehensive as some and we only discovered all local information and a very interesting history of the property as we were tidying up prior to leaving. Having said this, the property was in a lovely position and we had really great holiday with excellent weather.

Owl Barn is a lovely retreat tucked away close to Tavistock.

Arriving to this well-prepared property we were delighted with the layout and the stunning view over the valley to Dartmoor. With the bedrooms at opposing ends ensured that there were no disturbance issues on an evening and into the night. We were lucky enough during our stay to have a cloudless night and with no light pollution it was a joy to see the heavenly sky so full of stars. Owl Barn is so well placed as a base and allowed us to explore the surrounding area. Thank you so much for your hospitality and we may well be back again!

Owl Cottage is the ideal place to stay in the heart of rural Devon, with all the facilities you require.

It has stunning views across to Dartmoor, and has ideal walks close by. It is on a Farm setting hence lots of farm animals all around. You receive a really warm welcome on arrival complete with mince pies and clotted cream at Christmas time, ( scones, jam and cream other times). It is warm and cosy and very quite due to the very thick walls and double glazing. Several N.T. properties to visit in close proximity, and of course Tavistock which has a wonderful Pannier Market where everyone is really friendly.

This was our second stay at Owl Barn and didn’t disappoint.

The cottage is comfortable warm and peaceful. It’s a great base for an holiday, close to Tavistock but still feels like you are away from it all. The owners live across the yard and are friendly and happy to help with anything if needed. Our dog loved the garden, looking at the horses and sheep in the fields, and playing with Alfie the resident dog! Thank you for the cream tea to welcome us, it was lovely. We’ll be back!

We returned to Owl Barn after our visit in April & walked into a lovely warm cottage with the usual treat of scones jam & cream, thank you so much.

The cottage is so lovely, the furnishings etc are beautiful & there is every pot, pan dish you need, just like being in your own home. We can’t praise Owl Barn enough, it’s a home from home, so welcoming & no doubt we will be returning, hopefully next year

An idyllic oasis of peace.

Fabulous views. Very comfortable furniture and bed. Brilliant shower. Hidden away but close to Tavistock with an abundance of interesting features. Wonderful walks literally on the door step. Thank you for the delicious treats.

An absolute gem of a holiday stay, Owl cottage was immaculate, welcomed by a generous cream tea!

Kitchen was very well equipped and charming. Comfy beds and lounge furniture, plenty of outdoor seating too to enjoy the view which was spectacular!! We loved watching the farm sheep and horses in the field and saw the resident squirrel, lots of different birds including a buzzard! Very relaxing stay indeed - thank you!

A return visit for a week after a taster last year.

Cream tea on arrival most welcome. Made a good base to visits in South Devon, especially to the nearby Garden House. Good also to see the owners and have an enjoyable catch-up.

This is our second visit.

The property is lovely with everything you need. The views are stunning. So quiet and rural yet five minutes away you have supermarkets and the pannier market within Tavistock. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We will be returning next year for a longer stay.

Owl Barn is situated in a stunning location, on arrival the views were even better than the website pictures, stunning views!

The property had everything we needed and overall a great place for a relaxing holiday. When we can will definitely be back :-)

Owl Barn is a well presented property situated in a tranquil setting.

It is also close to Tavistock a vibrant market town with interesting history. The Barn was also extremely clean and reasonably sized with both an ensuite off one bedroom and a large walk-in shower room beside the second bedroom. The warm welcome from the owner on arrival plus the cream tea and milk was a pleasant surprise and much appreciated especially after a six hour drive!

Everything was really lovely, clean, bright and beautiful.

The view across Dartmoor was an added bonus! And I liked that it was a bit off the beaten track, makes it feel like a proper retreat which was what I needed. The hosts could not have been more friendly and helpful. I shall definitely be going back.

It was a lovely place to stay with a wonderful view in the lounge of the countryside.

The owners were very helpful and accommodating with us. There were a couple of issues with the lighting in the kitchen which is the entrance to the property which was quite dark. The plumbing in the sink in the en-suite was a little slow and the shower went from hot to cold quickly. But in general it was a lovely place to stay for a few days and very peaceful.

The Owl Barn is in a fabulous, quiet location on the outer edge of Tavistock.

Views from the lounge room of the surrounding farm paddocks, with their sheep and horses, stretched towards Dartmoor National Park. We were warmly welcomed by Jacqui, who had left us some milk, scones, cream & jam which were greatly appreciated. Comfortable beds, comfortable lounge, well equipped kitchen, and sizeable wet room made this an extra special rural retreat.

Lovely cottage with all amenities you could need and with a comfortable, homely feel.

The location is truly remote with lovely view across fields and hills. Our neighbours, two horses and a small flock of very pretty sheep, were lovely and pretty quiet! The garden is a lovely space of which my dog, Tinks, heartily approved. As for Jackie and Helen they are wonderful people. I will not go into details but they were incredibly kind and helpful to my friend and I. Cannot thank them enough!!

A lovely cottage with everything you need.

The views and surrounding countryside are beautiful. Total relaxation and wonderful walks. Our black Labrador loved his walks. A lovely cream tea on arrival. Would definitely come back.

Really enjoyable holiday, the location is fantastic!

The view from Owl Barn is beautiful whatever the weather, and we did get a bit of rain! It felt miles away from people, traffic, noise and hassle but in fact less than 5 minutes drive from the town and shops. Owl barn is comfortable and well equipped. We hope to return before too long! Thank you.

What a delightful property ~ so quiet and peaceful and a fantastic view !

We were welcomed with a cream tea and box of eggs and milk in the 'fridge while Jackie and her family were charming and happy to do anything to make our stay comfortable. We came specifically to explore the surrounding area but Owl Barn and it's view together with the sheep and horses meant we were content to spend more time "at home" rather than exploring. Thank you Jackie and we hope to return sometime. The property being on one floor and having an enclosed garden was also ideal for our deaf and blind dog.

One of the best places we've stayed.

Very good for dog friendliness with fenced garden that easily contained our medium sized dog.

We could only manage 4 nights but were deeply impressed by the quality of the accommodation.

The barn conversion had been extremely well executed and maintained. The scones and cream left out for our arrival were a pleasant welcome. All together a great experience; we look forward to making a future booking.

Cosy and comfortable cottage.

Stunning views from the living room. We really appreciated the added extras and having the Christmas decorations. The cottage is very well equipped, warm and tastefully decorated. Would definitely recommend and like to stay again.

We had a lovely 4 night stay at Owl Barn.

Such a beautiful location and our daughters loved seeing the horses and sheep. Can't fault the property in general; well furnished and very comfortable/ cozy. Our one (tiny) criticism was the cleanliness. There was quite a bit of dust on the bedroom furniture/TVs and numerous thick cobwebs in all the rooms, so it would be good if this was addressed. Fantastic games room. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again in the future.

We had a wonderful stay at Owl Cottage.

Nothing was too much trouble for Jacquie. I have mobility issues but the cottage was perfection. It was spotlessly clean and well equipped with wonderful walks. The dog proof garden with sheep and ponies wandering by is enchanting, We can’t wait to go back for a longer visit.

A truly beautiful property, perfect in size and layout with good size bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living room.

Wonderful outlook to the moors. Very welcoming host, nice touch to have the scones, cream and jam on arrival. Close enough to Tavistock town, yet far enough away to feel tucked away in the country, Peaceful and ideal for two couples or simply two individual travellers. Facilities easily accessible. Would very happily stay here again.

Quite frankly, the Owl Barn is far more beautiful and comfortable in person than it is in the pictures!

! I had a wonderful holiday! The view of the rolling hills was fantastic and it was great to wake up every morning, sit on the patio with tea and look at the countryside and forget all the worries and stress of daily labour and toil. The property is perfectly located. Not too far from a café or Tavistock, not too close to civilization. It’s the perfect sweet spot and has everything you need right there at hand. The kitchen is fully equipped and I whipped up some great meals with everything I needed. The owner, Ms Roberts, was courteous and very kind and she even left clotted cream and jam with scones for her guests so we could have an authentic Devonshire cream tea. Absolute bliss! It was the best holiday of my life and I will definitely be hiring the place again in the future to see more of Dartmoor and to relax and chill after months of work and toil. Ten out of ten, would book again!

We had a lovely stay in Owl Barn.

Great views and friendly neighbours in the form of sheep (and new born lambs) and horses! It was warm and cosy, comfortable beds and though it didn’t have a washing machine (or dishwasher) due to limited space, it had everything we needed. Suitable for people with limited mobility and a useful wet room. Obviously, being on a farm there were some narrow lanes to reach it, but you would expect that in a rural setting. Not a problem. The owners were helpful and friendly too. My two grandsons really enjoyed staying, and made use of the play barn. It was conveniently situated for the area i.e. Plymouth, Tavistock, Dartmoor etc, and we would have liked to have stayed longer. It would be nice to return when the weather is warmer. Overall, a lovely stay in a lovely setting.

The photos on the website does not do this property justice - it is absolutely delightful and has everything you need for a comfortable break.

The view from the main window is stunning. We were greeted with a cream tea and milk in the fridge ready for the tea. We would highly recommend this property and we would definitely consider it again in the future. Thank you!

We had a great stay at Owl Barn.

The owners were friendly and happy to offer help and advice. We arrived in the evening and it was pitch black. The directions given were good but we also found using the co-ordinates was useful - (50°31'09"N 4°08'27"W) which takes you to the main gate. Would thoroughly recommend.

A lovely small barn conversion.

The view from the lounge window was fantastic. The furniture in the lounge was a little on the large size and although being comfortable it took up a lot of the space, also likewise we think the table would have been better if it had been a small oblong. The bedrooms were both a decent size and the ensuite more than adequate The wet room was great. We had a lovely few days there in February and would go again. We would recommend this property.

The owners were welcoming and helpful. The position makes it ideal for those who need a quiet break but with easy access to the town and attractions

The accommodation was good, the owners were friendly, the outlook from the property was stunning and we had a great holiday.

A slight disadvantage was the long and very narrow lane to the property, which involved a number of lengthy back-ups to allow passage of other vehicles, mainly farm vehicles. Maybe we were unlucky with our timings. However this is nitpicking, and not something that can be remedied. Generally highly recommended.

Very comfortable and brilliant views.

Excellent size garden for dog along as they like horses and/ or sheep.Ours really enjoyed running around. Great walks very close by.

From the moment we arrived, we couldn’t believe the views .

.then as we entered the cottage it was like home from home . The cleanliness of the place was exceptional. The comfort of the cottage was amazing very comfy sofas in the front room look out onto such amazing scenery as you sip on your glass of Rose! Fully equipped kitchen !! 2 bathrooms . Night time the beds were super comfy with the softest bedding . We couldn’t fault the place, even though it rained we left the patio doors open and just listened to the rain. We cannot fault this place and will definitely be booking again ..we have found our little haven .

Great accommodation, very clean and tidy, lovely views across Dartmoor.

Very suitable for careful dog owners, out of the gate, down the lane a short distance, and you are out on the moor. Drop down to the nearby river valley for a lovely walk before breakfast! The owners of the property are your neighbours, and they were delightful company.

Our 2nd stay here which speaks for itself!

Lovely rural location with views over open countryside though only 2 miles or so from Tavistock centre. Excellent facilities with everything provided we could want so very comfortable. Jacqui is a friendly host. Hard to fault anything here, thoroughly recommended.

Lovely quaint barn conversion.

Very clean and furnished to a good standard. For us the best part was the location, quiet and tranquil. We loved sitting in the morning sun watching the birds and baby lambs. The owners are lovely, and although live onsite not intrusive. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable. Would recommend Owl Barn for a peaceful relaxing holiday.

The quiet rural location and lovely countryside views suited as really well as we have been very busy.

Local facilities only a few minutes drive away. One of our group has mobility problems and the wet room next door to a large bedroom was just what was needed. The layout of the rooms, with each bedroom at either end of the living space worked very well too.

They had put up a Christmas tree which made it home from home. Owners were very friendly and the cottage was very well equipped. We will be using the cottage in the future.

our holiday at owl barn cottage in Tavistock Devon was very relaxing the views are wonderful very clean scones and cream waiting for us when we arrived lovely people we will be coming back again thank you.

Generally we were pleased with the cottage, and it was delightful to be welcomed with a cream tea.

Just a point that could have been better: the freezing compartment in the fridge was so iced up it was hard to put a container of ice-cream into it.

Lovely location, great views out to the moors on the horizon.

Great spot for a relaxing weekend/week away (we stayed over the August Bank Holiday). Greeted by the host when we arrived, shown round and left with some lovely scones, jam and clotted cream. The barn has everything you need, great private outdoor space which catches the sun and has a table for eating out - we also took advantage of the provided BBQ. Fully equipped kitchen, cosy living room, two large bedrooms and two bathrooms. Dog friendly too. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommended.

Very bad access (unmade road on property) Could have done with some cleaning materials etc so that we could have left it even cleaner

This barn was perfect for our needs, the main bathroom having a wet area suitable for my elderly mother in law’s impaired mobility.

It was warm cosy and very comfortable and the owner was very friendly. Really couldn’t fault the barn which had fantastic views and would certainly stay there again. Many thanks for a lovely 4 day stay
