Lovely property in a beautiful location with gorgeous views.

. Friendly owners. Interesting to see the racehorses. I'm giving 4 stars as opposed to 5 because the setting, within a farm and equine business wasn't as quiet as I was hoping - there was significant use of what I suppose was a farming quad bike, especially between 4 and 6.30pm. 'Luckily' it rained a lot so I was unable to sit outside, but if you went in the summer I could imagine it could get annoying.

We’ve just had the most wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage, so much to do and see nearby.

Fantastic if you want to go and explore however also brilliant for slower more relaxed days. The cottage had everything you could need and the setting was perfect.

In the welcome book it mentions that to ensure that we clean up any poo from our dog, we did every time but the owners dogs left poo on the grass in front of the cottage and at night you had to be very careful not to tread in it.

the garden for the cottage was not private and also the side garden too. the patio doors to garden unable to lock which meant having leave left unlocked whilst out. You could not have the bathroom radiator on until the heating came on which was disappointing trying to dry wet towels.. Complaint (not happy) with Sykes, we booked this for a week and then notices 5 more days were available so booked it to make our stay longer, disappointed with Sykes as you charged two lots of booking fee of £25, this does not happen with any other rental company. surely and extension of a week we SHOULD NOT had to pay for two booking fees.

Chris est un éleveur de chevaux passionné, extrêmement sympathique et arrangeant. Un endroit parfait pour déconnecter parce qu'il n'y a pas de réseau et un wifi paresseux :)

Great location and a lovely warm cottage to come back to. The bed was comfy and the atmosphere lovely. Well situated for the moor and the main roads.

This is an immaculate little cottage in a beautiful location.

Coastal places to visit were a pleasant 30 -45 minutes drive away, although you can drive to Dartmoor in just 5 -10 minutes, where you can find some lovely safe dog walks. Would recommend bringing initial supplies ie milk etc as on arrival there is no quick access to a shop. The owners are lovely people who you can see love their life with their horses and family pets. We were made to feel very welcome with our two dogs. All in all we had a fabulous holiday and this cottage was a perfect central place to stay in Devon.

Very comfortable and fully equiped with everything you need for a self catering holiday. Beautiful location, quiet and peaceful with lovely countryside views plus gorgeous dogs and horses. Perfect, just perfect!

Higher Whiddon Farm is a delightful place to stay.

Chris & Becky (and their team of stable hands) couldn't be more welcoming. It was a really interesting environment and we thoroughly enjoyed watching the horses. The only disappointment was that the new foal didn't, as expected, arrive during our stay! The cottage, which has been beautifully furnished, is in a very quiet spot but with easy access to lovely countryside, towns & villages in and around Dartmoor. We definitely hope to return.

Absolutely beautiful cottage we had such a lovely few days.

Everything we needed was there and it was so homely and comfortable. Waking up seeing the horses each day was such a treat, just sad we didn’t get to see the new foal who was due!! My Husband and I spent a long weekend at the cottage with our little pug and we all had a wonderful stay.

Becky & Chris were both very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. The attention to detail in the cottage was very high, plenty of cooking utensils etc in the kitchen, books and DVDs, even a box of games! We enjoyed some wonderful countryside walks during the day, as well as some highly recommended pub lunches! And spent some cosy nights all snuggled up by the log burner. We were all very sad to come home! Would highly recommend a stay!

Beautiful setting, lovely and peaceful. Lovely animals including some baby lambs that came up to our window. Would definitely recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Becky and Chris were very welcoming and our children totally made themselves at home playing with their children and animals. The cottage is very cosy and comfortable and was always nice and warm. A supply of logs meant we could also use the wood burner. The beds were very comfortable even though the double was a little creaky each time you rolled over. It is lovely to see the beautiful horses out the window and I enjoyed a gin and tonic sitting in the garden of an evening watching them. We certainly felt very relaxed and at home and would love to return if we are in the area.

The cottage was well-equipped, comfortable, had everything we needed and with very helpful and friendly hosts. We had a lovely holiday and would highly recommend.

We loved the way the cottage had been decorated for Christmas.It was cosy ,comfortable ,clean and warm . The position was great for visiting local towns,National trust properties ,the moor and the coast . The cottage was great to return to Probably the most relaxing Christmas we've ever had .

We really enjoyed our stay & our hosts, Chris & Becky, were lovely. Plenty to do in the surrounding area. The walk from the cottage to Ashburton is well worth doing. Great for our dog as there is a separate pen for them to run around in if you don’t like your dog on a leash. Salcombe, Brixham, Paignton & Torquay all within easy reach. We felt we had everything we needed for our holiday base & loved seeing the horses everyday!

We absolutely loved this cottage.

A really wonderful place to stay. The setting is beautiful and tranquil yet just a short drive to the coastal towns. To wake up everyday to see fantastic horses close by was an added bonus. We can’t wait to go back for another stay.

Excellent holiday cottage.

The owners who live next door were really helpful. However, in your narrative you should give better guidance as to how to find the place - Sat Nav does not really help because of all the unnamed roads. The cottage is actually in the village of Sigford. You also need to warn holiday-makers that the cottage is at the end of a very narrow, 2 mile, high-hedged, Typically-Devon country lane. It was not a problem for me, but my wife kept her eyes closed all down the lane! (I was the one driving, I should say). But great little holiday retreat.

Super Cottage, Chris, Becky and family made us feel very welcome.

Location with the view and the horses were wonderful.

We loved staying at our comfortable cottage for our Devon holiday.

It had everything we needed - including a washing machine that wasn't on the listing! Whilst we enjoyed the peace and quiet of our location, the high-hedge single-track road in was a little nerve wracking to begin with, but we soon got used to it. Ideal for exploring the surrounding area.

The cottage was in a beautiful location: a peaceful valley on the edge of Dartmoor.

It is a very short drive to the moor but also conveniently close to the main road network for visiting nearby coastal resorts. We particularly liked Shaldon with its ferry crossing to Teignmouth. The owners were on site, attentive and interested without being ‘in our faces’. The horses are magnificent. The cottage is spacious, clean and well furnished. I wholeheartedly recommend this cottage.

I spent a peaceful and comfortable month at Higher Whiddon Farm, during an abnormally cold February to March.

Despite the bitterly cold spell, the house was always warm - the central heating easy to manage, and the wood burner very efficient and easy to use. There was a lovely light sitting room, a very comfortable upstairs bed, splendid views, and pleasant walks from the door (I had no car). The owners live next door, and are friendly, relaxed and thoughtful. They also have two gorgeous small children whom I enjoyed meeting. Having the horses nearby is a great treat, and as a townie who knows nothing of horses, I enjoyed learning about them. I'd certainly recommend the cottage to anyone - families, couples, or people on their own. One thing worth mentioning is that if you're coming in winter, you need to bring wellies, especially for the footpath over to Ashburton. The only negative for me was the lack of an upstairs toilet. It would be wonderful if they could find a way of fitting one in.
