Description

Squirrels Lodge is a charming, single-storey lodge resting in South Molton, Devon, with off-road parking, a hot tub, a woodburning stove, and a playful Narnia-inspired theme.

Ideal for couples seeking a Devon escape with a touch of storybook imagination, this characterful lodge invites you to step through a front door styled like a wardrobe, with coats leading the way into a world of snowy tree-lined walls, leafy detailing, and a striking lion statue that adds a memorable flourish from the very beginning.

Inside, the open-plan living space brings everything together for easy holiday living.

Light the woodburning stove as evening settles in, stretch out in the sitting area, and enjoy a film on the Smart TV after a day exploring the Devon countryside.

The kitchen is neatly arranged for self-catered meals, with an electric oven and hob, fridge with icebox, kettle, and toaster, while the dining area offers a simple spot for slow breakfasts or dinners after time outdoors.

The king-size bedroom continues the grown-up retreat, complete with an en-suite walk-in shower, basin, and WC.

Outside, the garden extends the experience with decking, lawn space, a barbecue, furniture, and a hot tub waiting beneath the open sky.

The traditional market town of South Molton is home to its historic award winning Pannier Market, held every Thursday and Saturday, where you can browse local produce, crafts and independent stalls.

For a day surrounded by nature, head to Barnstaple, where the scenic Tarka Trail follows the River Taw through attractive countryside, while Barnstaple Museum provides insight into the area's rich history.

Couples can also stroll along Barnstaple's riverside and explore its independent shops and cafés. Venture further towards Lynton and Lynmouth, often referred to as North Devon's twin villages, where dramatic coastal scenery awaits.

Ride the historic Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway, discover the extraordinary rock formations and wild goats of the Valley of Rocks, or follow stretches of the South West Coast Path for unforgettable sea views.

Whether relaxing beneath the stars in the hot tub or discovering North Devon's most celebrated landscapes, Squirrels Lodge offers a memorable escape with a storybook twist.

What guests are saying

The cabin was delightful, there are only 3 cabins in the area and all are a good distance from each other giving everyone privacy.

The hosts thought of everything from a trolly to carry baggage from your car to the cabin, umbrella, to a welcome pack, muffins, tea, coffee, milk etc... we stayed in Squirrel Lodge. Nice sized hottub for 2. Great area for the dog to play and explore whilst still being safe. Some great local walks, and a river for the Labrador to play in. The cabin was clean and well kept. Located in a woodland area but still enough sky to feel the sunshine. Safe for dogs in the wooded area and on the decking. Fully stocked utensils in the kitchen. We visited late September and the weather didn't disappoint. Squirrel lodge had an outdoor seating area and the host also supplied extra camping chairs.
