Description

In the small hamlet of Sampford Spiney, tucked away at the end of a private drive is Buster Barn, a detached single-storey converted granite barn.

You have the best of both worlds here, scenic and secluded, yet close to interesting moorland towns Buster Barn is well placed for exploring wild and rugged Dartmoor.

The spacious open-plan living area with an oak fitted kitchen, (washer-drier, microwave, fridge-freezer, gas hob/electric oven) armchairs and sofa bed (converts to double bed for alternative sleeping), has glazed double doors to the courtyard garden - a lovely place to spend time.

The spacious kingsize bedroom is tranquil and inviting and has a huge en suite bathroom.

Buster Barn is surrounded by an enclosed courtyard where there is a table and chairs, barbecue and ornamental pond (netted), over which a neat little trip trap bridge leads to gently sloping hillside garden and arbour with spectacular long views to a panorama of tors.

You can walk via a small lane to the open moor and Crip Tor and Ingra Tor are both around ¾ mile away.

Further afield, the market town of Tavistock has an indoor pool, cinema and plenty of shops and restaurants, and Plymouth, Devon's Ocean City is within an easy drive.

Our 6th visit to Busters barn , which must speak for itself.

It’s such a relaxing place to be . It’s comfortable , clean, perfect for us with two dogs . You feel like you are in the middle of nowhere , yet only a short drive from Tavy Highly recommended

Myself, partner and our 3 dogs had a wonderful week at Buster Barn.

On arrival it had be cleaned to the highest standard and everything you or your dogs could possibly need had been catered for. The enclosed gardens and dog friendly field behind the property are as amazing as the views from the property. There's excellent walks from the barn and near-by. Hosts Sally and Monty are such a lovely accommodating couple. As are the horses Maverick and squeaker, and the family dog, Winston. If you're looking to stay in this area look no further as you've found the best accommodation you can wish for. If I have to find a negative it is we wished we stayed for longer! Fabulous relaxing week spent at this lovely little cottage, two adults and two small dogs.

Really good enclosure for the dogs at the rear. Scenery to die for, tors to climb and the most wonderful and accommodating hosts you could wish for. Set in a remote part of Dartmoor near Sampford Spiney, easy enough to find approaching from Tavistock but watch out for the tight and extremely narrow lanes leading to it. 10mph maximum for what seemed forever. DVD player for those cosy nights in along with a bookcase containing a very comprehensive selection of books and DVDs, some containing invaluable information for the surrounding area. Any drawbacks? Only the kitchen knives were very blunt so had to fillet my sea bass with my trusty Swiss army penknife! Would book again in a heartbeat!
