Puffin Cottage

The property was lovely and relaxing.

Centrally placed for what I needed. Very enjoyable stay. The only thing that let it down was the mattress (double bed) it was very worn, my back suffered. Saying that, I would definitely stay again.

Cottage is ideally placed for exploring the Jurassic coast.

We walked the entire coastline from Sidmouth to Burton Bradstock. Beauty of the cottage is that you don’t have to get up at the crack of dawn to get anywhere. You can have a leisurely coffee in the lovely garden first.

We had a lovely stay at Puffin Cottage.

It was warm and cosy on not so nice days and conveniently situated for days out when the weather was kinder. Peaceful surroundings in a lovely little village. Friendly but unobtrusive owners. Would definitely recommend.

We had a great stay at Puffin Cottage for new year.

Peaceful, private, comfortable and well equipped. Very spacious and bright property even better than the photos! Birdsong is all you can usually hear! Loads to do in the area across three counties . Our 4 nights wasn't long enough ! We would definitely stay here again perhaps in the spring summer to make the most of the lovely garden.

Arrived knowing there was a storm due, however, we were warm and cosy in Puffin Cottage.

The cottage is a perfect location & base to explore the surrounding areas, we visited all of the beaches from Budleigh Salterton to Bridport. The weather improved too which was a bonus. The cottage was so peaceful just the sounds of nature, and church bells, both our dogs enjoyed the garden. Great to be able to park right outside the cottage. Everything we needed for our stay was provided, enabling us to have a relaxing holiday. Polly & Phil were right opposite if needed, but not intrusive.

PROPERTY WAS TIERED AND IN NEED OF UPDATING AND THE GARDEN NEEDED MAINTENANCE IE TREES SHOULD HAVE CROWNS RAISED.

BEDS WERE HARDTO SLEEP ON,THE COUCH IN MAIN ROOM SHOULD BE THROWN OUT. THE SHOWER REQUIRED ATTENTION. WE COULD GO ON. WE LEFT 2 DAYS EARLY. THE AREA WAS NICE ALTHOUGH WE HAD SOME RAIN. THE LOCAL PUB WAS GOOD WITH GOOD FOOD. IF WE GO TO HAWKCHURCH AREA AGAIN IT WONT BE AT PUFFIN COTTAGE.

The cottage was exactly as described. Hawkchurch was a lovely village with great walks and a local shop within walking distance. There were lots of leaflets of places to go in the cottage which helped us to have a great week. We also made use of the puzzles in the cottage. Extra touches like the drink in the fridge and dog treats were really thoughtful. Kids loved the swing, dog loved the garden. Very pleased with our choice of holiday cottage!

Puffin cottage is in a lovely friendly little village.

So tranquil. A perfect escape from every day life. Beautiful garden. Hosts extremely helpful at to hand if needed. Cottage clean and extremely comfortable. Everything catered for. Even a full size fridge! Little pub 5 minutes walk away serves fabulous food and staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Recommend this property 100%

Puffin Cottage is very comfortable and relaxing.

The garden is superb and has loungers to lay on after a day out. The kitchen is well equipped, the bed is comfortable. The quality of the TV is very good. Bathroom is lovely with both a free standing bath and separate shower cubicle. Polly and Phil are excellent hosts.

The hosts were very nice people,our two little dogs enjoyed running around in the garden.

Puffin Cottage is a quaint, little residence in the ideal location for exploring the surrounding areas.

Equipped with all necessary items and with ample hot water, heating and clean bedding. We had a wonderful, tranquil stay and enjoyed venturing out to the local beaches and towns. Phil & Polly (who reside nearby) were always at hand but never intrusive. Would definitely visit again (but would like some logs for the log burner for the chillier nights for next time please) ;) . We had a lovely time at Puffin cottage.

The cottage is very cosy and warm. So luxurious to soak in the bath with lots of hot water. The location is perfect for the coast and travelling around Somerset, Devon and Dorset. The dogs loved the enclosed garden. Polly and phill were great hosts and gave lots of help and advice during the holiday. Would highly recommend

Puffin Cottage was a great base to explore local area ,many beaches and good walks within 30 minute drive or less.

Dog friendly garden. Everything you need for a great break.

We were welcomed when we arrived.

Phil and Polly very kindly left biscuits, milk and eggs for us, which was much appreciated. We enjoyed our stay and the cottage was well positioned for visiting lovely Dorset/Devon places.

Everything you could think of is included in the cottage.

It was so warm and cosy in all the rain we had but the TV and radio were well used. The eggs from the farm were superb and I even brought some home. The owners Polly and Phyll were friendly and welcoming and on hand should you need them. The cottage wasn't easy to find as the web site didn't have a street name, however, we understood why as Downash Lane isn't marked until you are halfway down the street. A quaint village with good community shop and beautiful church.

Perfect location close to the Jurassic Coast.

Hawkchurch is idyllic with a village pub and well stocked community run shop. Peace and quiet of tranquil garden and lots of walks on your doorstop. Friendly hosts close at hand if anything is needed.

Puffin Cottage was a lovely retreat after our many interesting - and very warm!

The welcome biscuits and free fresh eggs were much appreciated. The owners, Phil and Polly, were the perfect hosts and gave great advice on places to visit. The local pub was also friendly and the food good. Would love to go back to the cottage again.

Amazing place.

Very cosy, clean and owners Polly and Phil were so welcoming. Everyone in village is friendly and the pub is fantastic and very dog friendly. The food is amazing too. The cottage has a beautiful garden which our two dogs loved so much. This is one of the best places we have stayed and we will love to go back again. Very highly recommend this gorgeous place.

The cottage was spotlessly clean and there was biscuits and fresh eggs which was a lovely touch.

Hawkchurch is a beautiful friendly, but peaceful village and the owners really welcoming. a lovely base to tour Devon, Dorset and Somerset, we would definitely return.

My dogs and I had a great time despite the weather being very wet, the cottage was very warm and comfortable, it had everything you needed.

The local pub was also very welcoming and allowed me to take both my dogs in, I had a lovely meal there on my birthday, for which Polly paid for my drinks. I would recommend this lovely cottage for anyone that wants a peaceful place to stay.

Lovely little cottage and wow, the garden is magical.

Our dogs loved it too. Perfect location near plenty of fun things to do and conveniently close to a nice pub that serves nice food. What more could you ask for?

We had a delightful peaceful stay at Puffin Cottage which is well appointed and comfortable.

The underfloor heating was exceptionally welcoming to come back to after a day out. The host Polly and Phil provided milk and biscuits upon our arrival and eggs from their own chickens which are delicious. The Cottage is well situated for visiting surrounding areas such as Sidmouth, Lyme Regis, Charmouth etc all within 30 minutes drive. All in all a lovely stay.

Apart from the weather, we had biblical floods that week it was a pleasant stay.

We had a very comfortable stay at Puffin Cottage.

The location is excellent for both Devon and Dorset. We did have an issue with a failure of the fridge/freezer which, when reported was replaced with a new one next day. To give the property a five star review would require some TLC in the kitchen and bathroom but overall an enjoyable stay

Lovely cottage, fabulous garden, brilliant hosts and superb weather. It was a perfect base to explore the local towns, villages and beaches. Very sad to leave.

We had a lovely holiday at Puffin Cottage, it was so quiet & peaceful, The garden is a great space to relax and our dog really enjoyed it aswell.

There are lots of good walks without having to drive anywhere and the local pub was very friendly and welcoming as was Polly & Phil. We have already booked again for next year.

Light and airy cottage with a beautiful garden in which to chillax.

Excellent location in a small village with an old pub serving delicious food. Coastal towns of Lyme Regis and Seaton just a few miles away. We had a lovely time and a big thank you goes to our hosts Polly and Phil who endured our stay was perfect. Thanks Lynne & Terry.

It was nice to visit places along the coast, but we always looked forward to returning to Puffin Cottage - sitting in the garden was very relaxing. Great little cottage, ideally located.

Small but cosy and lovely garden. Owners are helpful but not intrusive and bent over backwards to sort out a Wi-Fi problem we had. Highly recommend

My second stay in Puffin Cottage and very grateful for its comfort and cozyness as the weather was not the best.

Lovely cosy & quiet cottage.

Away from the mainstream with lots of local walks - me & the Great Dane thoroughly enjoyed it.

Had a really good time at Puffin Cottage and have already booked to visit again.

The cottage is very comfortable,well equipped and cosy.The mature garden is a bonus,bigger than I had expected with good lawn space plus trees and shrubs. The cottage offers privacy but Polly and Phil were on hand if need be.It deserves it’s good ratings

Amazing village location, friendly and relaxing.

We all had an amazing time. Fresh eggs on arrival were lovely and the accommodation was clean and bright - perfect for us all. The garden was beautiful - we were very spoilt with the weather on our weeks so spent all day exploring East Devon/west Dorset We will book again!

A truly lovely property, lots of hot water, perfect after a day out walking, and a good night’s sleep on the comfortable bed. It must be said too that everything was so clean!! Comfy property with lovely underfloor heating (nice for our feet and the dog loved that too).

Bath was very nice after a walk in the cold January weather. Garden was smaller than expected and not secure, but nice to look out onto. Didn't feel confident to use the wood burner as the seal was damaged and didn't want a room full of smoke

We had a lovely short break at Puffin Cottage.

The owner was really helpful, even going out of her way to find out about local trick or treat options for my children on Halloween. The cottage was clean, cosy, warm and comfortable and we had a fantastic time visiting Lyme Regis and Charmouth Beach to hunt for fossils and sea glass.

We had a lovely stay in Puffin Cottage, it's a beautiful place and the owners are very welcoming.

It's a good location and within easy reach of lovely walks and great beaches. The garden is pretty which was great for our child and spaniel.

Cottage very good - comfortable and well equipped - and hosts very friendly and helpful. On reflection it would be helpful to point out in the directions that Puffin Cottage is accessed via the gate to Glebe Cottage as we were a bit unsure when we arrived

Puffin Cottage is compact but beautifully presented.

The owners are lovely and helpful and the cottage is in a beautiful village which is very handy for the Jurassic coast. The are plenty of walks from the cottage and the dog loved the private garden. All in all we had a lovely stay in this cottage despite some not so great weather. We would be happy to stay there again and happy to recommend this as a comfortable place to stay in a lovely location with friendly hosts.

Wonderful place

We absolutely loved our four night stay at Puffin last week.

Such a gem of cottage in truly beautiful surroundings. The cottage exceeded our expectations...all four of us adored our stay and soaked up the calm atmosphere and beautifully light cottage. It was very clean and all of the household amenities were in great condition. We loved to explore the local area and will definitely consider coming back :)

A cosy cottage with a lovely garden.

Feels very private, but still very close to the shop and pub. Great local walks and also close to the coast. We found the cottage clean, well equipped with comfortable beds and a welcoming wood burner.

Lovely little cottage in peaceful surroundings.

Lots of great walks direct from the cottage - very well maintained footpaths and signage. Polly and Phil are great hosts - helpful and welcoming without being obtrusive. The welcome pack was lovely - thank you for that. King Sized beds are one our must haves these days and this one is super comfortable. The cottage is ideally located for touring the south coast from Portland Bill to Exmouth with Lyme Regis and Charmouth offering great local beaches. The coastal path above Seaton is also well worth a visit. With all this and with a great local to return to in the evenings, what more could you want? To make your holiday complete, the cottage has a proper teapot!

The holiday was great, the cottage and location was very good.

The only problem was dealing with Sykes Cottages. You would not answer emails or answer my phone calls. The only part of you system that worked is were you took my money.

Had such a lovely stay in this lovely cottage with our 5 year old.

He particularly loved the garden with a tree swing and squirrels; we loved the shady cottage at the end of a hot day at the beach!

Proximity to Charmouth beach is excellent, local pub in Hawkchurch was very friendly.

When you walk into a place and find cake forks in the cutlery draw, you know it's going to be good!

We had a lovely stay at Puffin Cottage. It was warm, cosy, clean, comfortable and very well equipped. The cottage is adjacent to the owner's house but is private and not overlooked. Phil and Polly (the owners) struck the perfect balance between being very respectful of our privacy and, at the same time, giving us the sense that they were on hand should we need them and that they would do anything to make our stay more comfortable. Hawkchurch is a delightful village too, with a warm welcome on offer at the church, pub and shop, which are all just around the corner. Our dog Welly also had a very enjoyable time, with numerous footpaths right from the doorstep. We booked for two weeks and stayed for three....that says it all! Thank you for such a lovely stay.

The owners of this cottage were friendly and welcoming and it must have been difficult for them as they had only just moved to the area themselves.

it was a quiet country area but fairly easy access to attractions such as the coast and historic houses and gardens. We were exceptionally lucky with the weather that week.
