Warm cosy cottage,home from home in a lovely area Surrounded by countryside but in easy access to all routes. Parking easy which is always a bonus and a pleasure to come back to after day out. Our second Christmas visit and back in two months,with probably a welcome from the dogs.

Colly Cottage is a lovely old comfy country cottage, well furnished and very well maintained.

We had a couple of problems which were sorted immediately. It is set in glorious countryside with superb views within a beautiful garden setting. We loved it.

From the moment the automatic gates opened we knew we had arrived at a luxury cottage.

Everything lived up to its photos. We loved to see the farm animals from hens and geese to goats. The patio was a lovely sun trap.

The whole cottage was very tired and in need of decorating.

The kitchen and oven needs a deep clean. The ground floor bathroom had a very temperamental temperature control on the Mira shower and the rainshower only ran cold... to flush the toilet you needed to pump it....Found the owners very brisk and busy... the first time ever at Sykes cottages no welcome box...... The beds were clean and very comfortable, as was the lounge furniture.

Lovely cottage in the countryside, very warm friendly welcome by the owners.

We were lucky with the weather but we would love to return in the summertime.

A wonderful homely cottage in a beautiful part of the country. Fabulous Dorset countryside to explore on our gravel bikes, straight from the property and also close to the coast. What a wonderful relaxing week away.

Lovely setting with wonderful views.

Although lovely the cottage is somewhat tired and is in need of a lick of paint to freshen it up. It could also be cleaner - cushions on dining chairs very stained, oven not very clean, a lot of cobwebs and spiders although appreciated that it is old and these can appear overnight. The kettle was very old and stained and did not switch off. Duvets and pillows extremely heavy. We did really enjoy our stay and the owners are very friendly and helpful. With a bit of tlc this property could be wonderful.

A fabulous cottage in a very peaceful and ideal location for exploring Bridport (about a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk) and walking the Dorset coast.

Walks direct from the cottage to Symondsbury and around the area are fabulous, even on a wintery day. The cottage is very comfortable and wonderfully furnished and appointed, it has everything you need. The hosts John and Sue are very welcoming and will support with answers to any questions. Five Star!

The cottage is set in beautiful countryside with stunning views of the surrounding hills.

It is well kept and comfortable with the added joy of farm animals and poultry to watch. The welcome was friendly and the entire stay most enjoyable.

Very comfortable and cosy in a beautiful surrounds. Sue and John were very helpful and it could not have been better. Thoroughly recommend Colly Cottage to anyone touring in Dorset as it was centrally situated to many of the things we wanted to see.

None of the below comments would hinder our return, as the location was lovely, the owners very helpful and overall we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

However, we do think it is worth sharing out thoughts. Whilst the property is generally clean, there is an abundance of cobwebs (expected in rural location), but some have obviously been there for a very long time. It is also obvious that furniture isn't moved at all when cleaning takes place. The property is over furnished: 1) Many over-sized lamps, occupying tables that are too small for them. 2) Rugs that are a trip hazard, in such a small space. 3) So many cushions, that get in the way. 4) Far too many ornaments, leaving no room for the client to place their own items during their stay.

A delightful cottage and location.

The owners were helpful but not intrusive. We would highly recommend this holiday accommodation to anyone looking for a really ideal stay in the Dorset countryside. We were not so enamoured with the beaches which were extremely over populated but found beautiful gardens to enjoy close at hand. We also loved seeing all the resident animals.

This is a most comfortable cottage, very well furnished, more a home than a holiday let.

It is set in really beautiful surroundings, calm, peaceful and a delightful base for exploring. Dogs very welcome and mine was so at home she became a bit territorial after a couple of days. Owners very accessible and helpful, altogether no complaints at all. Thank you John and Sue.

We have stayed at Colly Cottage several times.

That speaks for itself! This time we were there for Christmas. A lovely cosy Christmas with all the trimmings. The delightful owners had set up a real Christmas tree for us and left a bottle of 'fizzy' in the fridge. There were Christmas events locally. The best event was the West Bay Boxing Day Swim, a bright sunny day without a cloud in the sky. It was a memorable stay.

The cottage and owners were lovely, however I would make the following constructive comments.

Downstairs flush needs attention. Water pressure in kitchen sink is poor. Downstairs shower is very difficult to regulate. A few small items to look into but I would definitely return in the future.

The cottage was well equipped and in a lovely peaceful location. Lots of places to visit nearby. The owners were lovely and checked we were happy and had everything we needed. Highly recommend staying here we hope to return soon

Lovely cottage set in a stunning location a short hop from Bridport and the beach.

Owners were very friendly and helpful. left us alone but were always available for a chat. A perfect location for us to explore the surrounding area. The kitchen is a little cozy but was no problem for us and would advise anyone sleeping upstairs to beware of the joists as a member of our party caught them with their head. All in all, excellent.

Absolutely lovely cosy cottage nestled in beautiful countryside just a few minutes away from the town of Bridport and the beach at West Bay.

A great place to stay while exploring the surrounding area. Have stayed here twice now, with my partner and again with my Mum and we all love it!

We could not have asked for anything more in a short break; the property was simply charming, located in the beautiful Dorset countryside with some amazing panoramic vistas to be found just a short, Jack Russell-sized dog-walk away from the front door!

Inside, the property was fully equipped so no worries there. What swung it for us at time of booking Colly Cottage was how comfortable it looked - and we were not disappointed! Our thanks to the wonderful owners, who were on hand in the background to answer any questions. If you want peace and tranquility, then Colly Cottage is where it's at. We'd stay there again like a shot!

Lovely little property which was perfect for us during our short break in early May.

Nice to spend time relaxing in beautiful countryside. Hosts were kind and helpful. Background noise from sheep & chickens added to the feeling of calm and peace, so lovely to be wrapped in nature! Local farm shop was wonderful too.

Everything we needed was provided. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Lovely to wake up in such peaceful surroundings, easy to find, and close to all that the Jurassic Coast has to offer. Thanks to John and Sue for a lovely week. :)

The cottage is in a beautiful setting and very cosy.

Sadly we didn’t get to meet the owners as they were away. We did have a couple of minor issues over the heating and electric log fire but after looking in the manual found the number of the housekeeper. She actually came to the cottage and kindly sorted everything out. My friend and I had a enjoyable relaxing weekend.

Lovely country cottage.

Warm and cosy. Beams in upper bedroom were a little difficult as one of our party banged head a couple of times. Views etc great, Arrival and departure arrangements (Sykes) assume that visitors all have smart phones, We don't. Absence of anyone on the site to ask questions of or report to provided a problem. Not having received email info with key lock number proved a problem and with no one on site we waited in the cold for 4o minutes or longer trying to obtain entrance to the cottage

Colly Cottage ticked all the boxes.

It was a very hot week and we had my 94 year old father with us. He was cool in the house sitting by an open door and in the shade of the small courtyard, from which the views were STUPENDOUS. We had a happy week exploring Bridport, Charmouth, West Bay and admiring sunny views by day and moon lit skies at night. Washingpool Farmshop up the road was also very convenient for provisions. Sue and John were helpful and friendly and we will definitely return. Thankyou.

The cottage has everything that we need for a cosy stay. The views and especially the view to Colmers Hill are superb. The owners are delightful. We highly recommend a stay here.

Was not until last day noticed the all pillows and duvets of both bedrooms were truly disgusting!

!!! Very stained some had pillow protectors others not, would not have them in my own house!! Lounge and kitchenette very small to accommodate 4 people. Needs repainting to freshen up. Only DVD player in one of bedrooms. Needs separate fridge and freezer. Not enough space in either! No air flow in pantry so fresh veg and bread went off within a day! Otherwise lovely location.

The cottage was excellent.

Very clean and fully equipped with everything we needed. Sue and John were great hosts and always on hand should we need anything. A lovely position in the glorious Dorset countryside on a small working sheep farm, although we were never disturbed. We would highly recommend staying in Colly Cottage.

The photographs on the listing gave the impression that the interior was more spacious, and pristine.

The property is an old cottage, which was expected, but we think it is in need of a fair bit of TLC and decoration: the kitchen area in particular. The hosts were absolutely charming however.

Enjoyed the farm like setting, sheep, cows and chickens also peaceful countryside.

John and Susan were most welcoming and helpful, the cottage was comfortable and well laid out.

The cottage was in a great rural setting, but close to all amenities.

Cottage is an ideal retreat to relax in with the gardens and grounds looking beautiful adding to the peace and quiet of the area which is wonderful. Cottage ideally situated for places to visit. We all highly recommend a stay at Colly cottage.

This cottage is a beautiful character cottage set in the countryside with stunning views.

I have to say I was presently surprised as I didn’t feel the pictures did it justice (normally I find it the other way around with expectations being better than reality). Thoroughly enjoyed the cottage and the area - definitely will return.

Colly Cottage is in a lovely location.

We found the location easily, and parking was not a problem. It is well placed in West Dorset close to Bridport and West Bay. It was clean and well presented. Having a bedroom with en-suite downstairs, was great for my mother, as she finds stairs a bit of a challenge. Sue our host was very friendly, and we loved her two dogs and cat who popped in most days to give us a look. My only gripes were, we found the kitchen area a bit cramped, and the sink in an ackward position. Due to the location most days, internet and mobile phone use is not possible. However, I guess most people would welcome that ? Overall though a really pleasant holiday, in a lovely location.

beautiful location and owners we had a really great weeks break thank you all concerned.

The main picture of the cottage is, in fact, a photo of the owners' cottage.

Colly cottage is round the back - much less pretty and a very misleading picture. All of the other photos portray innacurately tidy, clean and ordered rooms - in fact, the living room was cluttered with further random pieces of furniture as was the upstairs bedroom. We were fascinated by the TV stand which was full of books and facing the wrong way. The stuff portrayed hanging on the walls has been replaced with tackier hangings. Everything was dusty round the edges and the oven stank of burnt meat juices whenever it was used. The owner, without letting us know, let himself in to adjust the shower while we were out leaving dirt and what I think was glue residue on the floor of the shower. His wife, at one point, simply tapped on the door and walked in with a 'hello.' To drive out of the gate was simply risky as in both directions, it was impossible to see traffic coming - had a couple of near misses with tractors. Worst for us was that it was situated on a working livestock farm, a fact that is not mentioned in the blurb about the cottage and a fact that would have meant we'd not have looked at the cottage as we are vegans.

The owners, John and Sue Dean, are very welcoming and helpful.

A superb place to use as a centre when exploring South Dorset and South East Devon.

A lovely cottage very well presented.

However the picture above bears no relation to anything I saw, it must have been the other side of the building. Also I would have liked the shower in the upstairs bedroom to have been hotter. I suspect the temperature had been set low due to wretched H&S concerns. The above not withstanding I would happily book again.
