Good points.

Clean and tidy on arrival. Main room is quite spacious and the cottage has a nice set-up with the three bedrooms running off it. Heating worked well and the property was well-equipped with appliances. Nice bath. Good bedding and towels. Accurate directions. Handy location for Bath, Wells, Glasto and other touristy bits. Bad points. Simply no sense of welcome. No packet of posh biscuits, little bottle of milk or teabags so you can make yourself a cuppa on first arrival after your long journey before unloading the car (although there was a bottle of, what turned out to be apple juice). One toilet roll for three bathrooms. No clingfilm, tin-foil or any of the other sundries you tend to expect in a Sykes cottage. No first evening 'you okay' text from the owners or even 'thanks for coming - have a safe journey home' one at the end of the week - in fact, no contact from them whatsoever. Ill-matching, cheap wire and plastic coat-hangers which all become entangled. Third bedroom is rather small and lacks a wardrobe, and the property could do with a second sofa in the sitting room if it's catering for six people (seating isn't now as per pictures). Likewise, the television is a little small for such a large room and streaming can be a little stop-start. The black dining room table is chipped and tatty, and the surfaces need re-waxing. Conclusion. Worth the money because it was surprisingly cheap but lets itself down by little things.

Only criticism would be comfort,beds & very tired settee.

This was my third stay at this property and every time it has been spotless and welcoming.

This is a comfortable holiday home.

Any issues were dealt with very quickly. We felt we could stay longer and would have liked to. Hopefully we will return for a more extended break. The information and directions were outstanding.

Stone Barn is a comfortable and well equipped house in a very quiet location adjoining a farm.

A nice feature is that each of the three bedrooms has its own private bath / shower and toilet. Large private parking could accommodate four of five cars. One minor point: the gas boiler can be noisy when it fires up on the timer at 5:30AM, so I advise anyone staying to turn it off at night and on in the morning manually. Thoroughly recommended for a quiet holiday in the Somerset countryside.

Stayed for a night during Westfest and we were so surprised such a nice place was available, must have had a cancellation as I’d expect something this good nearby to the showground to be booked well in advance.

Judith, the owner, was very helpful in advance of our stay answering queries very swiftly. The property is clean, tidy and overall really great. There was a bottle of wine and some local fresh apple juice in the fridge (best apple juice I’ve ever had!) which was a nice touch. Thanks for a great stay.

The barn was lovely, great layout of rooms and well situated for visiting nearby attractions such as Longleat.

Just a couple of things that could make the stay even better. The water wasn't hot enough for a bath, but the showers are hot. In the kitchen we couldn't find a tea towel and there was no kitchen towel on the holder and no bin in the kitchen apart from the food waste bin. Otherwise everything was good. Nice to have some fruit and eggs left for us. Thank you.

As someone said in October 2024, the place could do with a deep clean.

The wall in on of the double bedrooms was filthy. The twin room had plenty of drawer space, no wardrobe. Double bedroom next to it had wardrobe but no drawers. Only one bedroom had wardrobe AND drawers. No spare cupboard space in kitchen for storing food. So piled on work surface. Take all you are likely to need...tea coffee milk sugar salt pepper etc. We didn't meet the proprietor, which I found weird. Everything was done via texts. I'm still waiting for a reply to the text telling them my husband dropped kettle lid and broke it and the fact I'd left £20 behind towards a new one even though other was still working. All that said it was beautifully quiet, comfortable and a great place to spend time with our friends as all bedrooms were en-suite. So I may consider coming back.

Overall a very well presented property.

Great to have clean sheets and a hoover done half way through a two week stay.

Overall the property was lovely, had everything you would need.

Just a few things though…..water temp in both shower en-suites could be hotter. A retractable washing line would be good (if people don’t like using the dryer) & all windows inside & out need a clean. Other than these little gripes all was good.

The bedrooms, bathrooms and the kitchen were fine.

The seating area for evening relaxation was not so good. The settee was fine but the two chairs were not. They were low and very difficult to get out of, something which is not obvious from the photos.

Loved our stay for the second time will be back in November x

The cottage was lovely and ideal for exploring Somerset.

Initially we had an issue with the boiler as it wasn’t providing hot enough water for the showers but this was rectified when we contacted the owner. Unfortunately we were also not able to use the oven as it didn’t seem to turn on although we had followed the instructions, so we just managed with the hob and toaster as we ate out most days. Overall, we enjoyed a lovely stay at the Stone Barn.

A name sign outside would help when you are trying to find it at 11.

30 pm luckily neighbour stays up late and didn't mind a knock on the door at that time. It was on opposite side of road to which instructions said also the contact telephone number was not available before or during our stay. Having Said that we loved the layout and our stay there so much have booked 2 more stays here.

Pros - spacious, convenient location,3 bathrooms, excellent welcome pack.

Cons - needs a deep clean, beds very uncomfortable, directions poor. Chose this property as visiting a sick relative nearby and it ticked the box. With a bit more effort it could be excellent.

Information pack very helpful and welcome goods really appreciated. Small problems not enough tea spoons and no hanging wardrobe space in twin bedroom otherwise all good

Our Holiday at the Stone Barn was very relaxing.

The accommodation delivered on everything it said it would, our weather was not so good but when the sun was out, the patio was a real 'sun trap'. The Sone Barn is ideally located to get to lots of place - would highly recommend and would like to stay there again.

Amazing stay, highly recommend

What would have been a great stay in a warm and spacious home was marred by the standard of cleanliness.

In the kitchen the oven needed a deep clean. Also the sink and cup drawer were grimy. The en-suites had lime encrusted shower heads and rims on the doors. The shower hose was coated with black mould. New toilet brushes and replacement toilet seats wouldn’t go amiss. A real shame as we won’t return.

Spacious & warm Property.

The property was as advertised but a sign saying 'Stone Barn' by the gates might be helpful as we drove past it a few times - also the instructions stated that it was on the left but it was on the right !

Apart from that it was all very comfortable and clean with everything we needed- although the shower head in the main bathroom needs a clean. The temperature of the hot water needs increasing as it was only ever warm and subsequently one bath emptied the tank as no cold water could be added. The underfloor heating was very efficient. I would have no hesitation in staying again and hope to do so.

Lovely spacious clean property.

Peaceful surroundings and close proximity to all attractions. Two elements that a little disappointing. The first night we was there it was absolutely freezing the heating had not been turned up and it took a 24 hours before it was comfortable temperature which is not ideal with small children. The second is none of the showers were hot just lukewarm.

We had a lovely New Year stay at the barn in a comfortable, relaxing environment.

It has a nice spacious kitchen and lounge with also having the benefit of all bedrooms on suite. There is also a pub within walking distance. We enjoyed so much we are looking to return!

Generally very good; however a new washing up brush, a small sharp knife, clearer instructions as to the recycling and rubbish, more than 1 toilet roll are needed.

Some areas of the property could do with a deep clean (shower screens, oven and racks, skirting boards, rubbish bins)

We booked a short break for my moms birthday.

Wow. What a beautiful place. There were 6 of us and it was plenty big enough. So comfortable and modern. Dee, who looks after the property was very helpful and answered all my questions and recommended lovely places to eat for a birthday celebration. The village is a 15 min walk away with stunning views. Highly recommended. We would absolutely return. Thank you for a lovely weekend and all your help.

Kitchen needs a complete deep clean.

The oven was filthy and we put shelves on deep clean in dishwasher twice, which was an improvement. Some of the dishes were greasy and bits of food stuck. The sink had not been cleaned and there was crumbs all around where the toaster was. When we stripped the bed to come home, neither the pillows or the mattress had protectors on, one pillow was very badly stained and there were stains on the mattress. Such a disappointment as the lounge was lovely and it has great potential if they get decent cleaners.

We were very disappointed with our stay at this cottage!

We arrived late Friday 4 November to little to no soap in the kitchen and bathroom areas. We were left a dirty scourer to use in the kitchen! The towels didn't smell fresh and the general appearance of the place was neglected. It really needed a deep clean! I do honestly believe we left the place cleaner than how we found it! Disgusted. This was a real let down as we been so happy with previous Skyes Cottages. Will not be recommending this one.

We had a lovely holiday in a lovely property

A well appointed and comfortable property with very helpful owners.

We very much enjoyed our stay. Our only comment would be that it would be very nice if the concrete area outside the main room garden doors was laid with tarmac or slabs and the wall decorated with plants/flowers. This would give a prettier outlook. However the existing layout did not detract from the enjoyment of our holiday.

The property had everything we needed and the information you provided about the locality and things to do were really useful. We enjoyed the walk to Rodmore Farm for fresh milk and the bakery was fantastic for fresh bread and rolls. We would definitely come again.

Absolutely beautiful spacious property!

Despite being a cold February stay, and the property being very open with large patio windows it was warm and cosy because of the underfloor heating. A welcome pack was a lovely touch. Fantastic power shower. On the downside the beds were uncomfortable and the electric cooker was very complicated. As I am disabled I had to ask for the location of a shower/ bath mat, but when I found it unfortunately it was not fit for use. ( apparently a new one is on order). We had problems with the tv which the owner/ representative kindly sorted out for us. All in all we had a lovely break in the stone barn

Rented this property to spend time with family so we were 6 adults sharing - having 3 ensuite bathrooms made this a suitable property for our group.

The barn is lovely and spacious, well equipped and within easy walking distance of the village. The property is very clean with quality bed linen and towels. There is a plentiful supply of hot water and heating is controlled by room though as summer visitors this wasnt needed. Although there is another barn on the site, the property is very private with a south facing furnished garden and enough parking for 3 cars The village pub (The Bell Inn) is within a ten minute walk and serves good quality pub grub with a very friendly atmosphere. We also dined at the Natterjack where the food was very good but a car is required as on a main road. There are many nice towns and villages nearby to explore and the barn had a collection of leaflets with recommendations for days out. My only critique would be the beds in the twin room which didnt seem suitable for adults - may need the mattresses replaced - but would be perfect for children.

There were some lovely walks in the area including some direct from the cottage

Sykes as a company fantastic, Stone barn very spacious, very well equipped, lots of amenities, great location, perfect for a family, lovely outside area.

But the stone barn was not clean, we were advised that check in is not earlier than 4pm due to a deep clean, that was fine and reassured us and as no flexibility we understood as with COVID, hygiene is important. If the barn had been cleaned as a ‘ deep clean’ I dread to think what a basic clean was. There were cobwebs every where, draining board was scummy, oven had been used and trays of fat were left in oven so we were unable to use them, bathrooms were not spotlessly clean, quilts had stains on them, toilets were not 100% clean and the seats were wobbly. Thankfully we had taken cleaning materials with us but we should not have had to clean on arrival.

I was disappointed that the 4 poster bed wasn't there that was the main reason for booking the barn.

i had to de-cobweb around the barn as i have a big fear of spiders I was concerned that the double beds didn't have mattress protectors on them the bath was slippery standing in the shower as no slip protection there the previous holiday makers dirty tissues under the mattress there was a urine stain on the double bed in the bedroom with patio doors but thank you for our holiday it was nice

We couldn't have found a better place to spend the lockdown as we waited to move into our new home.

The Stone Barn was very comfortable and well equipped and in an ideal location for walking and access to local shops. Tony and Judith were very helpful and the fresh eggs and apple juice from their smallholding were very much appreciated. We would definitely recommend.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Barn.

Our hosts were ultra helpful and left us a welcome basket. It’s a great location for visiting many places in Somerset and Dorset. We would recommend staying here.

Just back from 7 days at Stone Barn and beautiful Somerset.

The owners were so helpful and welcoming and the Barn was everything we needed for our family of 6, the sheep, cows, pigs and chicken were a big hit with all of us! The area is delightful with great pubs, walks and local facilities, easy to travel to all the tourist attractions, including Cheddar Gorge and Glastonbury. Woukd highly recommended Sykes and Stone Barn. We will definitely be back in the future.

Comfortable cottage,lovely surroundings, excellent welcome, well placed to visit many historic & other places of interest.

We had a lovely time in one of our favourite parts of the country.

The stone barn was a perfect choice for us and was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed and more . We will definetly return thanks for a really lovely week.

Excellent very comfortable accommodation.

Everything we needed was at the barn - & more!!. It was great to be left a lovely welcome pack & a welcome note which included easy to follow instructions, supplementing the actual product instruction booklets, on how appliances etc. worked. Also an excellent location being close to the A371. Each day we went exploring including visits to Wells, Glastonbury & Bath which were all within easy reach by car. We found numerous nice pubs/restaurants within a 15 minute drive for our evening meals. We would have no hesitation in returning.

The Cottage was central for most attractions in the area, plenty of information for pubs, food, and shopping.

It was great to have access to the farm and it's animals, the chickens came every morning to greet us, and the rest of the animals were all friendly. Fantastic parking area right outside of the cottage, under floor heating was great at night, everything supplied for us and a wonderful welcome basket. I would recommend the stone barn for a very relaxing holiday to all.

Friendly pub serving good wholesome food pub in Evercreech. There is also a local Coop.. Very good base for walking and visiting local attractions.
