beautifully maintained, and comfortable with everything you could need. Owners live on site and are happy to help with anything . Would for sure be happy to stay again . Lots of lovely walks around and only 20 mins or so drive to the beach.

Mendip Cottage is such a relaxing place.

We have just returned from possibly our sixth or, maybe seventh, successful stay. The owners are welcoming and helpful. The cottage is extremely clean. As a couple staying there for 2 weeks on each visit, we particularly appreciate the facility for washing AND DRYING clothes. On this occasion, the paddock proved to be a fun area for our grandchildren (1 and 3) to be chased around safely. Thank you Jane and Peter.

What a lovely place to stay, so peaceful and a nice walk to the very sociable pub with the dog ,we would stay here again if we come back to this area and recommend it to our friend ,,

Your helpful hosts welcome visitors to these charming, modern, excellently equipped facilities in a comfortable ground floor apartment in purpose built accommodation.

Great for walks, exploring the Mendips and great pubs from this secure farm/ horsey base. (No bad smells though.) Excellent for everyone including dog owners, horse lovers. Well appointed road access for Cheddar, Wells, Glastonbury, the Somerset Levels and north to Bristol and Bath. History and heritage settings abound.

On arrival I was surprised to find the Mendip Cottage a converted stable had accommodation above it!

I feel strongly that this should have been mentioned in the description of the cottage, especially as these cottages pro vide facilities for children to stay. We had a family above us and the child seemed to run around unchecked, which sounded like a herd of elephants. TBH, it spoilt my experience of Mendip cottage, I did mention to the owner that I would not have booked if I’d known that there was accommodation above us that allowed children! Other than this the cottage was lovely, very clean and comfortable, such a shame.

Lovely little stable/barn conversion, thoughtfully laid out.

Just right for the two of us as a base to explore the Mendips and Bath. The cottage stayed thankfully cool during the heatwave at the start of our holiday, with a nice evening breeze through the bedroom windows.

We loved this little cottage.

Eveything was perfect. Fully equipped with everything you need. Walks from the door to beautiful countryside. A great chip shop a short drive away and plenty of local pubs that serve food for all budgets. Hosts very welcoming, as are Buzz and Woody. Lovely to watch horses in training with Sarah in the morning too. We will be back, as so much that we didnt get to see and do.

We had a warm welcome from Jane, who told us we could contact her or Pete if we had any issues.

The microwave stopped working and it was replaced within ten minutes! The property is in a country setting, with horses on site, which we enjoyed watching. We also heard tawny owls and a fox. The owners were there if we needed them but didn’t get in our way at all. Everything was clean and tidy, the welcome milk, tea, coffee etc was a nice touch and the cake was delicious! In all, a beautiful holiday despite the time of year. We will be going back again.

We've just returned home after another wonderful stay at Mendip Cottage.

We think this was our fifth time of staying there - once you find a place that suits your needs, why look elsewhere: the owners are friendly, the cottage is extremely clean and very well maintained, the immediate surroundings are interesting, and the location is both accessible and safe. Thank you Jane and Pete for all your hospitality. We have every intention of returning.

This is such a beautiful cottage well maintained in a very quite area but no far from shops and attractions bed fabulous shower fabulous with lots of hot water WiFi brilliant would definitely come back next year with friends and it great having a utility room with waging machine.

There is relatively easy access to the beautiful surrounding area including Cheddar, Glastonbury and our own particular favourite, Stockhill Forest. Once again we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Mendip Cottage.

The cottage is private and the grounds secure, which is a great comfort when staying far from home. The cottage is scrupulously clean and very well maintained. Small private garden. Idyllic location with the added bonus of horses. Short walk to local village, even shorter if you take the nearby footpath. Would highly recommend.

It was perfect for the two of us and it was really lovely to be able to hear the sheep. Would definitely recommend.

Poor level of cleanliness, including dirty windows and frames all round, chrome in bathroom marked and stained, sticky paper residue on chrome toilet roll holder, sticky residue on underside of handbasin, overflow on basin black inside (easily visible when sitting on toilet), extractor fan in bathroom thick with dust and fluff, smelly kitchen sink drain, cooker hood dirty/in need of filter replacement, smoke alarm missing from hallway ceiling.

No full length mirror. The picture on the TV stopped working early on the 2nd evening (before 6pm) and, although this was rectified within 24 hours, it was dealt with as if it were a nuisance for the owners to sort out, instead of an inconvenience for us, and with no apology. We were not informed that the TV was fixed and had to try it out the next evening to see if it was working again. Glasses were smeary and cutlery water-stained, kettle was badly scaled up. We didn't make any complaint whilst at the cottage, as we felt like we were there under sufferance, having booked to stay with our little dog, before they decided to stop allowing pets. We left it this long to post feedback as it's been the subject of a great deal of discussion between us for some time since returning home.

Mendip Cottage is a remarkable property.

At first glance it appears tiny, but having stayed there for 2 weeks, we found it magically grew to suit our every need. It was extremely clean, private, and well equipped. Our dog quickly assumed she was ‘home’. The dog paddock was very useful, especially for early morning visits. We were sorry to leave and have every intention of returning. Thank you Jane and Pete and everyone else working there.

The accommodation was excellent - very comfortable, well-designed & equipped. The cottage is delightfully situated, in a peaceful spot on the edge of the village of Shipham, overlooking open countryside. It is fully accessible with a wet room & an attractive little patio/garden where we could sit in the sun & our dog could safely relax. He also enjoyed the enclosed canine exercise area! The owners, Jane & Pete, were most welcoming & helpful. We loved the area, watching the horses nearby, walking across the fields to Shipham village & eating at the local pubs. We don't hesitate to

We found the property to be extremely comfortable, clean and had all the home comforts that you would need for a weeks break.

It was in an excellent position for our walks, and sightseeing, and had several good pubs nearby for an evening meal. We would certainly recommend this property to others. Well done to our hosts and many thanks.

Super holiday close to Cheddar Gorge; the owners were lovely; a pen to exercise the dog was very useful; very quiet and dark at night - plenty of quality sleep; plenty of wildlife around (recommend the pools near Priddy - loads of toads when we were there); local takeaways five minutes drive; horses exercising in the yard opposite the house nice to watch; enclosed garden meant we could let the dog out without getting dressed.

Highly recommended! We will be back!

My parents stayed at Mendip cottage for a few months as an in between moving house.

It was absolutely lovely, everything they needed, the owners were on hand if needed and are lovely, couldn't do enough to keep my parents happy . Wonderful stay, would highly recommend.

We had a lovely week at Mendip cottage.

It is a modern clean and comfortable conversion in a former stable block which has been converted to a very high standard. The open plan kitchen/living area is spotlessly clean and well presented, the king sized bed is delightfully comfy and the wet-room shower is fab. There is ample hot water from a huge storage cylinder which keeps a drying/utility room nicely warm and the whole cottage was comfortably warm in October. The garden was nicely and securely self-contained for our little dog. Perfect location for a couple, convenient for coast and country side.l

This is a very comfortable cottage set in lovely countryside with everything you could need and ideal if you are taking your dog.

I would highly recommend it for a lovely peaceful break.

Superb accommodation, owners extremely friendly and helpful, our dog Hugo enjoyed the numerous walks nearby.

Plenty of dog friendly pubs nearby most of which do good food, I can recommend the Star which is in easy walking distance and does a wonderful Sunday roast. Overall just a wonderful place to stay and we’ll be back.

Owners on site if needed . Tea coffee milk and cake left for us on arrival and we were able to check in early as cottage was ready before checking in time ( Jane owner texted me to tell me it was ready ) Overall great break and would not hesitate to visit again

It was like home from home. You had everything needed and more. Fabulous location, very private, won't hesitate to recommend to others, and to top it all, Jane had left scones, jam and cream, tea, coffee, sugar and milk. What a lovely welcome

Everything about the accommodation has been brilliantly designed and installed with quality finishes.

The bed was very comfortable and the wet room bathroom was lovely. The cottage’s central location made visiting all the attractions very easy and it was great to be able to walk across the field to the local pub and shop.

Excellent centre for exploring the Mendips with a variety of footpaths to explore from the front door.

Brilliant shower room

An excellent cottage all round and in an ideal location.

If we were to mention one thing it would just be that the sofa was a little uncomfortable .

We would have preferred a larger fridge, and a freezer.

During the pandemic we are having food deliveries weekly to avoid going into shops, but the lack of a freezer and a very small fridge made this difficult. More mugs and cutlery are required to enable full use to be made of the dishwasher please. Otherwise no complaints.

My wife has restricted mobility so the Walk-In Shower and the space to move around was absolutely perfect.

The milk, scones & jam on arrival was most welcomed and a nice touch.
