We absolutely loved the cottage, it was quaint and quirky, everything a cottage should be.

Tracy was lovely and had thought of everything you could need. It was spotlessly clean and the view of the Mendip hills was beautiful. Would thoroughly recommend it.

Crooks cottage is a pretty well equipped cottage, clean and comfortable.

There is a good easy to use shower. The nearby town of Axbridge is architecturally fascinating. During the recent heatwave the lovely cool stone flooring was much appreciated. Good bed linen and lovely thick tea towels! Our host was helpful and friendly and available if needed. An enjoyable stay despite the heat.

Great accomodation, clean with everything you need including welcome pack, milk and dog treats, fab enclosed garden for the dog's too.

I'm sure we'll be back, thank you!

Fully equipped cottage.

A very comfortable bed which is always important when on holiday. Good location. Fenced for the dogs and the stable door a good idea.

Lovely property, newly refurbished and provides a great base for exploring the surrounding area.

We spent a lovely four nights in Crooks Cottage.

It is compact but is well set out and has everything you need. The kitchen is well equipped and we cooked with ease. There is a secure little garden for the dog and walks up into the hills right from the door. It's an excellent location for exploring the area and it's easy to get to Cheddar, Wells and Glastonbury. There was a lovely welcome tea tray set out for our arrival and biscuits for the dog. The owner lives in the adjacent house but we were completely unaware of her until we had a problem with the wifi and she was over straight away to help us. It does back onto a local road and there is some traffic noise in the morning but it wasn't a problem for us.

A lovely, clean property with enclosed garden for the dogs.

We also had a welcome tray with biscuits and Easter chocolate, milk and water in the fridge, tea, coffee and sugar also available. We had a lovely stay and will definitely return. Thank you

Highly recommend for a chilled break for 2. The property was very well maintained and thoughtfully appointed. Didn't need any assistance from the host, but Tracey replied to texts instantly.

We - including Ellie the border collie - really loved our stay here with the fantastic walks that are available from the doorstep. I strongly suspect we will return. We can also recommend The White Hart Inn just down the road in Cross,

Well situated, Great walks with good local food. We had a great time and can thoroughly recommend it. We will definitely stay again when in the area.

We had a lovely stay at Crooks, it was small but perfectly formed, no expense was spared on the furnishings and fittings.

The only negative was there was no pub or shop within walking distance so had to rely on the use of the car

Crooks was a perfect, cosy cottage ideal for a single person/ couple.

Great location as rural but easy access to motorway and 30 mins to beach. Spacious bedroom and bathroom and everything you'd require is provided. Ample off-road parking. Very quiet and a lovely peaceful weekend.

Such a delightful cottage, comfortable, cosy and warm enough for us and our Border Collie.

The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed for cooking and eating. After an active day out it was lovely to come back to the comfort of the cottage to chill and relax in front of the log burner, although we were lucky with the weather considering it was February and only used it a couple of times during our stay. The garden was perfect for our Collie being enclosed and safe and also for afternoon tea sat in the courtyard garden in the sun. Very handy for the 7 miles of beach at Brean and bigger supermarkets and so close to Cheddar Gorge and surrounding area. We would not hesitate to re-visit so we can explore some more. Thank you. Really home from home.

Comfortable, easy to understand guidance notes and very snug. Great location for exploring on foot and a dog paradise. The hose outside for cleaning off the muck was a great consideration by owner. Highly recommend and we will return in 2025....

I really enjoyed my stay in the lovely cottage.

I can't really add to what has been said before. My five night November stay was made even better by the dry, warmish weather. I had a good walk one morning to the top of Crook Peak with my cocker spaniel Sam. Wonderful views from the summit which is just over a mile from the cottage and 600 foot of ascent. I'm 82 so have a go. You'll enjoy it! Wouldn't hesitate to return. Plenty to see in the area. The coast is not far away.

We enjoyed a great week in this beautiful, cosy little cottage with our 2 dogs.

The cottage is very well equipped and dog friendly with everything we could have needed during our stay. The welcome pack was gratefully received and the owners really have gone the extra mile with thoughtful touches like cosy throws and blankets, dog treats and an OS map of the area and lots of helpful information about places to visit locally and places to walk from the doorstep. The cottage is in a great location with lots of places to visit within about 15 miles so you don’t need to spend lots of time driving for a day out. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily stay again if we were in the area.

Perfect for us walks on the doorstep decent pubs nearby The White Hart and The Lamb at Axbridge to mention two .

Wells and Cheddar close by ,everything you need is at the cottage maps,local history books etc and hose pipe for the dog great addition thoroughly enjoyed our stay

The cottage was really lovely, beautifully clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything that we needed .

The surrounding countryside is also beautiful for local walks and the location is good for exploring many interesting places . We particularly liked Wells.

Tracey had gone to great lengths to make the cottage cosy and welcoming.

There was no shortage of equipment and there was lots of information provided about local amenities and lovely walks around the area. The surrounding scenery was also a bonus and we are looking forward to our next stay

Had a lovely 4 night stay at Crooks with our dog.

The cottage is utterly gorgeous, beautifully decorated and furnished to a very high standard. Perfect for a couple and their beagle. We really couldn’t fault it. Location is perfect for visiting the area. Had a bracing walk on Brean Beach. Arrive after 2.30pm and parking in the beach is half price. Also visited Cheddar Gorge and had a lovely walk round Cheddar reservoir. Shopped at The Ploughman’s Farm Shop just down the road which had everything we needed. Great for meat and fresh veg and local cider. We wish we had booked for a longer stay. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

Crooks is a lovely little cottage, it was a perfect home away from home in beautiful, peaceful surroundings.

Tracey has put together a really helpful welcome pack about the cottage, places to visit, places to eat, local walks, as well as other useful info, she is also on hand if you have any queries. Crooks is in a good location for visiting Axbridge, Cheddar Gorge, Weston-Super-Mare, Wells, all of which worth a visit. The New Inn at Cross and The Lamb at Axbridge (best fish & chips I’ve had in a long time!) serve really good, homemade pub food and are dog friendly. A lot of careful thought has gone into Crooks, I felt at home as soon as I walked through the door. I would highly recommend this property, our dog Jenny loved it too!

It had everything we needed. Tracey the owner was extremely helpful with ideas for cycling routes which we did - all of them. Visited Wells /Shepton Mallet /Glastonbury /Clevedon. Loved the area too. No hesitation recommending.

The cottage is immaculate and we felt at home in minutes of arriving. In easy reach of plenty of Somersets best parts, Cheddar, Wells, Glastonbury, Weston Super Mare are all a short drive away

Crooks is a beautiful dog friendly cottage in a really good location ideal for exploring Somerset.

The cottage had everything we needed - comfy bed and good shower top of our list! The kitchen was well stocked and we were given a small supply of tea/coffee and a carton of milk. It was warm, spotlessly clean and well presented. I would absolutely recommend this cottage to anyone.

The best we have stayed in! A very comfortable and cozy week. I had a great time running up the nearby hills and visiting local sights.

Our dog was made to feel very welcome, with a handy hose to wash muddy paws. Tracey was always very helpful with any questions to help with our stay. All in all a very enjoyable stay in crooks cottage. Thank you Tracey.

Another fantastic stay!

Cottage has recently been fully refurbished to a really high standard. It is cosy and comfortable, spotlessly clean and really thoughtfully equipped with everything you’d need. Fabulous location and even though this was our 4th stay, we found lots of new walks locally which was great. The dogs loved it too and having the enclosed space out front is a bonus for them. We absolutely love the area and will definitely be booking again

We absolutely loved our stay.

Crooks was comfortable, cosy, spotlessly clean and well equipped. We liked being able to walk, run and cycle straight from the property along the many paths, trails and quiet lanes. It was wet and muddy while we were there but Tracey very kindly let us keep our bikes in an outhouse, there was a hose available for washing muddy bikes and boots and we were very glad of the washing machine!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Crooks.

Ideal for the two of us and perfect for our dog. Very clean and comfortable, had everything we needed. Bonus was fabulous weather so able to do lots of walking, great walks straight from the cottage. Wood burner looked good but didn’t use because of the warm weather. Thank you for the dog treats and also for ours.

My second time staying here and it was just as perfect as the first time.

We had a lovely break, walking in the area and "Crooks" was the perfect retreat. The cottage had all we needed and was extremely well laid out for 2 people. The welcoming touches were appreciated. We had our dogs with us and the outside shower tap was very useful after a long walk in the hills. Good pub food and tea shops in the surrounding area too. We hope to be back Carole

Ideal for dog walking. Owners nearby to help. Parking onsite which is always good. Very thoughtful, on arrival there were a few treats for us and also for the dog. Nice extras made it feel special.

We just had a lovely short break at the crooks, it had everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Lovely little garden at the front which was a sun trap and our two dogs sat out there sunbathing in this glorious sunshine we are having. Hopefully we will be booking another stay with you very soon.

Bring your boots as it may be muddy but theres a handy hose to wash them and the dog. Easy access to Cheddar ,Wells ,Glastonbury and the coast for great days out .

We enjoyed our pre Christmas Break at Crooks, the owner was on hand in various ways and friendly.

We travel up country from our Devon Home at this time of year to see family in Warwickshire so Crooks was ideally located for us. Is added to our favourite list to come back to again.

Hello, I really enjoyed my stay at Crooks.

It was intended as a base for me to visit grandchildren and family in Somerset. It was very comfortable. Tracey the owner was on hand for any queries and very friendly. I hope to visit again and I can thoroughly recommend the cottage.

Lots of secure car parking. Very handy for local walks (some literally from the door), W-s-M, Wells (worth a visit), and other places of interest and beauty.

Nice cottage in a good position.

Couple of things though the mattress is not pocket sprung so we rolled into one another and was so uncomfortable I had a back ache in mornings. We left a day early because of it. The pop plug on sink in bathroom did not pop up. We did not raise it as its too much trouble. Surely the previous clean would found this. Also dust on lamp shades.

Lovely cottage great place to stay would recommend it as a great base to sightseeing all the main resorts ie W-S-M .

CHEDDAR. etc are all less than 30 minutes drive. The only downside is the place needs a fridge/freezer and a good idea is a dvd player. 4.7

Had a fantastic stay in a beautiful cottage and surroundings, very peaceful and relaxing with lots to do within a few miles radius, my only slight issue was with the bed , although very comfortable mattress , was a bit small for us personally as we are both quite tall, other then that could not fault.

We only stayed for a long weekend but had everything we need, logs provided for log burner with the option to purchase more which was good.

The cottage was lovely.

Very quaint. It was very peaceful and an ideal position for exploring the surrounding areas. The only downside was the lack of privacy as the small garden was by the gate in and there was a window at the side which was by the bins so we kept the curtains closed which made it very dark.

We had lovely neighbours staying in the cottage next door. The fire was the selling point for me and it didn’t disappoint, lovely cosy evenings infront of the TV with the glow of the fire. We can’t thank Tracey enough for her hospitality, we had such a lovely time and look forward to booking with you again!

Some crockery was dirty a sugary residue in a glass kettle was greasy oven was dirty extractor filters had flys on upperside.

Towels had a stale smell good job we took our own. Very disappointed with cottage would not return .

Lovely little cottage in a great location.

Lots or local walks and within walking distance of a couple of pubs. Within easy reach of Bath and Bristol as well as Weston-Super-Mare, Cheddar and Wells. Dog friendly too. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

Crooks is a very cosy cottage but not cramped because the space has been well designed.

Although attached to Wavering (the cottage next door which is also a holiday rent) we heard nothing through the walls, even though the couple renting Wavering had a dog. The cottage was spotlessly clean and had all the facilities/equipment we needed. The key safe system worked well so we didn't actually meet our hosts. Crooks is set in a beautiful country area with an easily accessible end of the Mendips rising immediately behind the cottage. The road along the base of the hills runs immediately past the back of the cottage. There is very little traffic and you really don't hear it either inside the cottage or, indeed in the small garden seating area outside, so it is a very peaceful and quiet spot. Care is needed driving out of the property as the exit is onto a semi-blind bend in the road. We loved our stay and would recommend it for a quiet break in beautiful countryside. In colder months the woodburner would make the property even cosier (we didn't need it in late August/beginning September.

It was a lovely little cottage and it had lots of little homely touches.

The kitchen was well equipped, and the house was very practical, with tiled floors downstairs. The bedroom was lovely, with a comfy bed and a good shower. The only 2 things that I would have liked to be a little better were the quality of broadband as it was hard to watch streamed TV (I know this is hard when you live in the country) and the sofa was small which made it difficult to lounge around after a long walk with the dogs. But we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.

Had everything we needed except a cafetiere.

We have stayed at Crooks Cottage and it's sister cottage next door.

We will do so again having booked again for September this year. A fantastic place to stay in a glorious county.
