Delightful cottage in great location for exploring the local area.

Beautifully presented and very comfortable with everything you could possibly need for a short break away. The tea, milk and biscuits were a very welcome treat on our arrival.

Wavering is in a lovely setting.

The cottage is tastefully decorated and extreemly well equipped.. We thought the 'enclosed garden' would be secure but it's not ok for small dogs because the fence has a large gap underneath it. The owner, Tracey, was very helpful and communication was excellent.

We have stayed at this property for many years now - this is our 10th year returning to it.

We love the area and we love the property - Wavering and Crooks (the property on the same building) are both so excellent, we have booked it consistently as it is our special place.

Warm and cosy, presented to a high standard. It is an easy cottage to live in with everything in its right place. We particularly enjoyed the log burner which cheered up November evenings. The cottage is in a great location with lots of places of interest and things to do within a reasonable distance. Highly recommended and I would stay here again in the future.

We spent a great week with our dog at this lovely, clean, well equipped cottage.

The walk-in shower is superb. Wavering is well positioned for exploring Cheddar, Wells and Axbridge, which has a lovely Almshouse teashop and museum. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

It was a great location to directly walk from with our Dogs, there is a nice loop walk around by the Church and a Dog poo bin on route. The weather was quite hot while we were there so we all benefited from the cool stone floor !. Thank you Tracey for your Welcome & Hospitality

With an enclosed garden and private parking immediately in front of the garden gate the property was ideal for us and our two mini labradoodles.

The Coast, Wells, Cheddar Gorge and the town of Axbridge with The Lamb Inn serving excellent food are all within 30 minutes drive. Also there are two large garden centres close by for rainy days. The very pleasant owner, Tracey met us on arrival, explained where everything was including local attractions before leaving for a short break. The welcoming pack of tea, coffees, milk and biscuits was most welcoming. The property has recently been restored to a nice standard, is well equipped with a comfortable bed. Our main concern was the head room in the main living room/ kitchen area, We are 5’-6” tall, The head room floor to ceiling is only a shade over 6”-0” so while it was satisfactory for us we thought it may not be ideal for a taller person. We are happy to recommend the property to others providing they are aware of the ceiling height.

This property was top notch, comfortable had everything you would want at home.

Lovely spot in the middle of the countryside, some close by walks. Plenty to do in the area. We had a lovely week.

This is our second stay in these beautiful cottages, previously in Crooks, but was already booked on the dates we were visiting.

It is a beautiful cottage, in lovely surroundings. The cottage was very well equipped, it had everything we needed. It was absolutely spotlessly clean. We met the housekeeper and praised her for the cleanliness of the cottage.

We have had a wonderful week staying in Wavering cottage.

The cottage was beautifully renovated and everything was so clean and welcoming and warm. I found the mattress very comfortable which I don't always because I have hip and back pain. I was expecting a lot of road noise but it wasn't noisy at all just hearing the occasional passing car. The cottage is in a very good location for walking and exploring with our dog. Thankyou for making us so welcome we will definitely be back for more exploring.

We had a lovely weekend stay at Wavering.

The cottage has been lovingly and beautifully renovated, it is perfectly equipped for a 3 person stay. The owner left us a nice welcome package and I particularly enjoyed using the tea set/teapot. We would very much recommend a stay here. Thank you for using us.

The property was immaculately clean and homely.

It is ideally situated for trips to Weston, Cheddar Gorge, local pubs and shops etc. The only slight niggle we had was on arrival the built in fridge door was catching badly on the kitchen unit and I personally found the mattress soft and uncomfortable. The property owner was friendly, helpful and professional.

Our fifth so I think that says everything! Beautiful cottage, well located for exploring, equipped with everything you need and SO comfortable. We were so lucky with the weather too which was an added bonus. I’m sure we’ll be back again soon.

Our stay at Wavering was most enjoyable: it is a well equipped, warm and comfortable cottage.

There is plenty of parking and turning space for a large car. The wi-fi works well. We are surprised at a recent review which stated that a guest couldn't sleep because of traffic noise. Yes, you can hear a passing vehicle for a few seconds from time to time, but this did not disturb us, even though we have long lived in a quiet rural location. The back of the house is against the road, but all the windows face on to the courtyard.

The property was very clean and tidy on arrival.

Well equipped and very comfortable. Excellent location, with great walks in the local area and easy access to Weston. Nice and quiet and would definitely consider staying here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at Wavering.

It’s clear that the owner has gone to a lot of effort and expense to decorate and furnish the property to a very high standard. The cottage felt lovely and cosy with a country style-modern decor which we loved. I have to comment especially on how clean it was, for somewhere which allows pets, the carpets were absolutely spotless even down the side of the furniture which often gets overlooked! I’ve never stayed anywhere with such attention to detail - and we are picky! We were welcomed by a lovely note from the owner and a pack of biscuits and fresh local apple juice, as well as milk in the fridge, this was a lovely touch and makes it stand out from other places we’ve stayed. I brought my cat with us and he settled in straight away, he absolutely loved bird watching through the main bedroom window! The shower was a nice size with good water pressure. If you are a light sleeper then I would recommend bringing ear plugs because the property backs straight onto a country road, it’s only a 30mph speed limit but does sound quite loud due to the closeness of the road. It didn’t bother me as I’m used to wearing earplugs living next to a motorway back home but my mum struggled to get to sleep. A few things I’d recommend for the owner (and they are small things): Kitchen scissors didn’t work Cutting knife was very blunt Bin in bathroom was an open-top wicker thing with no bag, could do with changing to a pedal bin as it’s more hygienic for putting wipes or hygiene products inside etc. :) It would also have been a bonus to have a footstool next to the sofa to put our feet up on after a long day walking about. Overall we would definitely recommend and would consider returning when we are next in the area.

Wavering is one of the best places we have stayed and there have been many.

The photos don't do it justice. It is very clean and the attention to detail meant we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The property is very well looked after and it's clear that Tracey takes pride in ensuring her guests have the best stay. We loved the local welcome pack and absolutely perfect that dogs can stay too! Thanks Tracey if we visit the area again we would definitely choose Wavering!

Wavering was a superb cottage for our holiday.

Ideal location for our needs and lovely walks in the area. Everything about the cottage was quality, from the furnishings to the utensils. Tracy was a welcoming hostess and gave us some useful tips. We ate at the White Hart, The New Inn and the Lamb Inn, all local to the cottage and all provided excellent fare. We highly recommend Wavering.

So well equipped, spotlessly clean ,warm and very comfortable , a real credit to the owners . Lots to do in the area and good walks from the cottage , throughly reccomended.

We have just left this beautiful property where we had a stay with our daughter and spaniel.

The property was cosy and well equipped with lovely finishing touches. The walks directly from the property are fantastic. Even with some rain and chilly mornings, you cannot beat exploring and coming back to a cosy holiday home. If you do love walking, I highly recommend using a footpaths app as it clearly shows your options for routes when out and about. Cheddar and Axbridge are just a short trip away and both are beautiful and each have shops for essentials you need. Will definitely book again for our next UK break.

Our 3rd stay at so that tells how much we enjoy staying. The cottage is comfortable, clean and well equipped and in a great location. Lovely walks from the door. We had beautiful weather the whole week which was a bonus. No doubt we will book again in the future!

Everything you need is there. Such a cosy, warm cottage. Would definitely recommend. The owners are on hand if you have any questions.

Overall the property was nice and clean and comfortable just a couple of queries about the kitchen some of the utensils not clean had to wash before use.

Lovely Cottage and very nice Owner, she made us feel very welcome, nothing was too much trouble.

Pets were also very happy, lots of good walks from the property. Quite a busy road during work times so need to be careful. starting and finishing walks.

This has to be the best location in all of the Sykes cottages we have stayed in.

It is perfectly placed with walking routes on the doorstep and a wonderful location for other areas such as Well, Cheddar Gorge, and Glastonbury. We walked the nearby hills for a week and we could have stayed another week for sure. Our Host, Tracey, was wonderful and the cottage was beautifully appointed, very clean, and had everything we needed for a great stay. It is a wonderful property and we stayed next door in the adjoining property in 2018 and 2019 and which is very similar and just as nice. We hope to return to this property in 2023.

We didn’t meet the owners but we were out exploring the area all day. Cottage lovey and cosy to come home to.

We have just had a lovely week away in the Mendip Hills in Compton Bishop.

The cottage is beautiful with everything that you need for your stay. It was clean on arrival. The view from the front garden over the hills is spectacular, we would sit outside every morning. The owners are lovely and met us on arrival. They told us some lovely local walks from the cottage which we did do. Wells, Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury, Western supermare, Axbridge, Wookey Hole are all great places visit to visit from the cottage too. The walk across from the cottage the Crook Peak was our favourite walk there. 2 lovely pubs within walking distance, both with lovely gardens to the rear and serve amazing food. If you get chance stop off at the farm shop on your way to Cheddar Gorge, the strawberries are amazing. Wells also is a beautiful place to visit with the Cathedral and the Bishops Palace. Also if you get chance there’s a book in the cottage all about Compton Bishop, if you get chance read it, it’s so interesting what the village was like back then with the history. We have left something at the cottage which is our sons, if the owners could get in touch with me that would be great - thank you. Thanks for a lovely stay in a beautiful part of the country x

Lovely 2 bed cottage with close access to Cheddar Gorge and Mendip Hills with amazing views.

Cottage stone walls kept amazingly cool during recent heatwave. Highly recommend a visit.

We stayed at Wavering for three nights to break up our journey to the South Coast.

The cottage was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Secure parking. There is access to the West Mendip way from the cottage- so some excellent walking. Also, easy access to the Somerset coast. The owner was very helpful giving directions and advice as to where to visit.

Just had a lovely weeks stay at Wavering cottage .

We thoroughly recommend this cottage as it's a very comfortable and conveniently situated cottage for visiting many of the pleasant walks or towns in the area .You do share the drive and the cottage is attached to another holiday home which belongs to the same hosts but you do get your own garden space .This may put some people off but it's not really a deal breaker .

We had a fabulous and relaxing stay in this lovely holiday cottage in Compton Bishop.

The property is well situated for days out with minimum travelling for Cheddar Gorge, Wells, Weston Supermare... and fabulous walks along Sand point and beautiful Brean beach and Brean down to name just a few... Also Axbridge (about 2 miles away from the cottage) was definately worth a visit with access to Cheddar reservoir just down the road from there. I would definately go back to this part of the country and especially to Wavering Cottage. The owners were lovely and live on site... and they were very respectful of ensuring privacy for their guests in the 2 holiday cottages. A great holiday. Thank you.

This was a lovely, well equipped, very cozy cottage, despite banging my head on the beams by the bedrooms.

The small garden was dog friendly and with the bench a nice place to read in the evening. As a minor criticism it would nice if the double bed was a king size for us larger folk. Anyone wanting to enjoy the beautiful City of Wells go on a Wednesday or Saturday for market day. A great buzz around the place.

Fabulous, cosy, well kitted out barn conversion.

Welcome goodies much appreciated and enjoyed by us all!!! Quiet beautiful area, amazing walks in the Mendip Hills on doorstep and lots of places to visit close by. Small enclosed garden perfect for sitting out and safe for dogs.

It was a lovely cottage and was very clean and had everything you need.

Kitchen was well kitted out and the shower was perfect with plenty of room. I would love to come back soon.

The cottage was immaculate and very comfortable. It was perfect for us visiting our family. Great spot for walking and visiting local attractions. Will definitely book again!

We (3 adults & 1 dog) arrived Friday 23rd April for a 7 night stay and we couldn't fault anything.

The cottage was ready three hours ahead of schedule and there was a lovely welcome pack waiting for us on arrival. The place is very well equipped and we didn't want for anything. The log burner was a great asset on the cool evenings and once again everything was provided. If you do run out of logs there are plenty more on site for a small fee. The owner Tracey was lovely and made us feel very comfortable throughout our stay. We had a 5 month old Guide Dog puppy with us and we're very pleased to find the enclosed garden had the additional safeguard of a fully enclosed parking area beyond our garden so no worries if the dog got out. Tracey also offered us the use of an adjacent field to free run the pup. NT trail is just up the hill 100m from the property which is safe and free from livestock. We would happily recommend Wavering to all of our friends and family.
