New Barn

We would really enjoyed our holiday.

Very relaxing and peaceful. We would also like to thank the owners for supplying us with 2 fans, these were most welcome what with the extreme weather we have been having. They were really appreciated!

This is a well-appointed property in a peaceful location, a reasonable distance from Blandford Forum, where there are ample shops for every need.

The property has been well adapted for holiday accommodation. It is roomy and clean, with the bonus of two bathrooms. There is plenty of room to park, with the addition of some recharging stations for electrically powered vehicles. A communal grass area in the middle of the properties is good. There were other people in the nearby and adjacent cottages but it was still very quiet and peaceful.

Everything is provided for your comfort. We loved every minute. Would recommend New Barn first class.

This was our third visit to New Barn and we found the property to be very clean and comfortable.

In general we had a fairly quiet an d relaxing time although went out walking or visiting houses and gardens every day in the locality in spite of mixed weather. We enjoyed a game of table tennis every evening in the games room.

This property is very well thought out, we had everything we needed.

Perfect for our dogs and family. Great information pack and the milk and biscuits were a nice touch. The cottage was very clean, the beds were very comfy, and its so quiet there. Great location for visiting the local area. Only issue we had was parking, others had not parked consideratly so we couldn't park in correct place on our last night and had to leave our car in an odd place. Not that you can help how others parked but maybe try and mark spaces or ask guests to consider others when parking and leaving space for other guests? We will be looking to return in the future, thank you for a great stay.

It was really well equipped and felt super cosy in the rainy weather. The games room was good fun. The secure area for thd dogs gave us peace of mind. We would definitely book again

This is the first time we have decided to go away with our dogs and we are so glad to find these cottages.

The new barn is simply beautiful, finished to a high standard and literally has everything you could possibly need. On arrival the milk, tea & coffee and biscuits were so appreciated. We had such a lovely time that we’ve already booked to return in December!

In a quiet rural area, this was a well presented, comfortable cottage with everything there we needed.

The enclosed front garden meant it was a safe environment for our dogs.

Really nice stay.

I suggest that a fan is provided as the heat in the evening was unbearable. We went out and purchased one from screwfix. Thanks for providing insect spray which helped sort out that problem. A very comfortable stay.

Beautiful and comfortable cottage.

We had a good holiday in spite of intense heat in the first part of the week. We liked the spaces to sit outside and table tennis in the games room. Lovely kitchen and bathroom with nothing lacking.

The selling point to us was the enclosed garden for the dogs which was wonderful. I had read previous feedback which mentioned throws for the dogs and flies. I definitly reliterate both. We did have a problem with a tap and 10 min after reporting the manager was out to fix it. excellent service. The location is in the middle of no where, so be prepared to drive for everything. Very happy with our stay and highly recommend.

Very accommodating owners who have gone the extra mile to make the place a home from home. Great location although a car is definitely needed to get about. I’d certainly return in the future.

The games room was great. The only thing I would say is a 10am checkout is very stingy. Especially when only booking for 2 nights. An option to extend checkout would be good.

Comfortable and well equipped cottage.

Games room facilities were really good and very much enjoyed by our teenage kids. Can’t fault the cottage or complex at all. It worked perfectly for our family. The only downside was that the pub in the local village was closed for refurbishment during our stay and looks like it will be for some time.

The property was very comfortable, clean and well equipped and we had a most enjoyable week.

It was nice to have a little patio and seating outside to enjoy in the evenings too. We found plenty of interesting places to visit and a lovely walk very close to the holiday cottages. We were very fortunate with good weather .

Nice peaceful stay at New Barn.

Really well equipped clean kitchen. It was nice to be able to turn on the electric heaters for a while when the weather turned really cold. Lovely countryside all around with nice walks spoilt only by the wet weather. Would be good to have some dishcloths to wipe surfaces. we actually bought one and left it. Enjoyed our stay.

Never stayed in a farm complex before, but we were really impressed by the Hedge End Farm Cottages.

We rented a really great barn conversion, which was well appointed, and equipped. The complex is in a really pleasant location, surrounded by super walking country. Hope to go back one day.

We were very impressed with the cleanliness and comfort of the property, but also the facilities provided in the games barn for the grandchildren. Again, this area was well maintained and looked after. We have already recommended this farm as a super place to stay for family of all ages!

The cottage was everything that we expected.

It was clean, comfortable and well thought out as to decor and furnishings. It was well stocked even for our four legged friends, a spare bowl just in case it had been forgotten. A cottage that is well situated within Dorset so you can visit coast or country. A place we will be happy to come back to.

The New Barn is a stunning place to stay, home from home, so cosy and perfectly equipped.

We did not want to leave! It works perfectly with two ensuites either side of the cosy lounge, and everything you need is in the kitchen, including tea and coffee making, dog bowls and biscuits! The beds and settees couldn't be more comfortable and having an enclosed garden for our two dogs is just perfect, with the lovely communal garden directly in front too. The barn is in a beautiful location with very good local dog walks. The games room is a real bonus too - playing table tennis, air hockey and pool enhanced our holiday so much. We've had a brilliant holiday and would definitely stay there again and we can't recommend it highly enough. Thank you so much for providing us with such a beautiful place to stay in such a beautiful county as Dorset.

Barn facilities very good.

A secluded location and great if you want some peace and quiet-although that wasn’t always possible It’s a hard water area and the kettle needed descaling but I messaged the management and within a short time they popped around with the kettle descaler, which I think is good. Loved the games room. Everything was really well maintained, beautiful linen and quality feel to the rooms. Would have liked a bath sheet towel provided as well otherwise we would have brought our own - small face and body towel ok if you’re a size 10! I felt the double bed mattress was too hard and had backache- but I think that’s often down to personal preference and difficult to provide for all choices and preferences. Overall this was a beautiful barn and dog friendly with a great gated area for our pooch.

Great holiday with our dog for the first time. The set up with the gardens was perfect.

New Barn was home from home.

Everything you needed was provided. It was lovely to have tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits provided to have after a long drive. All cleaning products were provided along with toilet rolls and dishwasher tablets. One thing that would have made me feel safer as an older disabled person would have been a grab rail in the walk in shower. But other than that we all had a great holiday.

The location is lovely & the facilities were just what we required.

The Owner was a very nice Lady and very prompt to attend to problem of why Hob not working when I was right in middle of preparing food for our 53rd anniversary meal with friends due(instruction folder had been put in tv drawer across room instead of located near the Hob) Previous Occupier had set the childlock and we are not savvy with induction hobs! Unfortunately as we were putting food away in the fridge the brackets supporting the glass shelves started to crack up as have gone brittle and there was a near miss episode with the glass shelf collapsing on to the floor which could have been dangerous as I am disabled with serious leg disability. Fortunately the shelf didn't shatter. The shelves need replacing although the fridge/freezer worked well! My Husband thought it would also be helpful if each of the many fused switched Spurs were labelled so as to identify Hob&Oven etc Also he says it works have been helpful to have an Covered outdoor 13 amp power supply for our Hybrid PHEV car, as we do not use the type of charge facilities in the carpark. We enjoyed our stay though very much and thank the Owners for helping to make our 53rd Anni a happy occasion. The weather was good so we could get out & about this beautiful part of Dorset and enjoy using our NT membership

A beautiful well equipped cottage in a well presented courtyard.

Everything we needed was provided and everything was good quality. I found the king-size bed far too firm, however I'm sure a lot of people would be OK with it. It was situated in a beautiful spot close to Blandford and there were lots of places to visit.

This was a wonderful cottage in lovely surroundings I really couldn't fall it .

could have done with a pker for the fire. And the mattress on the king size bed wasn't very comfortable but everything else was spot on would definitely stay here again thankyou for a lovely week .

Great place to stay.

Will consider staying again. Shame we were not allowed a one night sleep over with my granddaughter who hasn't see myself or my children for over a year.... A minor thing was the TV remote needs looking at as changing TV was difficult.

A delightful set up and our cottage (New Barn) was adequate for our needs.

The hob was temperamental and the oven took a long time to reach required temperature. The log burner however was incredibly efficient and we were never cold! I imagine in the summer it is gorgeous there but it was more remote than we were expecting and nowhere in the immediate vicinity to walk the dog. Overall though, a most enjoyable few days and the games room was a bonus! Thank you

New Barn was very clean, it was a nice touch to have stainless steel bowls there ready for dogs.

The cottage has very nice fittings and furnishings and is very well maintained. Most other people there also had dogs and Hedge end Farm is obviously well known as being extremely dog friendly. Our next-door neighbours who had 3 dogs with them, told us they had stayed there 8 or 9 times before. The farm is also in a very quiet location, which was great for a good night's sleep. We were very pleased with it.

New Barn and its surrounding properties is one of the nicest cottages we have used.

Ideal for dog walkers and Hedge End Farm is very helpful to its guests by allowing access to all of its farm tracks. A most enlightened feature. We would like to return in the future.

New Barn was great and the walk opposite through the woods was wonderful. Log burners look nice but are a bit of a faff!

New Barn is in a lovely country location but close to some of the Dorset beauty spots, plenty of woodland walks too.

Wouldn't hesitate to stay at New Barn again.

We had 3 sykes cottages with 11 of us plus 2 dogs staying.

Dont know where else this could have happened ? so great for large families or group of friends. We all enjoyed the games room. The cottages were isolated - so doing anything else apart from walking involve car drives.

The cottage was clean, however under the dining table and coffee tables there was dirt & dust etc.

However overall we were very pleasd with our second booking through Sykes.

Clean, well equipped property, all on one level.

This property was perfect!

We loved the cottage and particularly appreciated how clean it was under the current Covid situation.

It was well equipped and the small enclosed lawn on the front of each property meant it was very dog and children safe. The layout of the six cottages enables each cottage to have plenty of windows facing the central lawn without sacrificing privacy. We have already booked two of the cottages for Christmas. A couple of small telephone queries prior to our stay were answered very swiftly by the cheerful manager Leanne. My only grumble would be that our mixed age party all felt that the beds although good quality, were very hard.

This place was lovely and quiet and very clean.

The only downsides were the amount of flies (we put fly tapes up and still there were so many of them) and the gurgling of the water pipe in the bath; this did disturb my sleep one night.

Negatives: - The closure of the advertised Games Room - The huge amount of flies that prevented the door being left open.

We had to regularly use the fly papers, which stick to everything, and fly spray! - No seat cushions or other chairs to sit on outside in the lovely sun. - The bathroom sink hot tap being out of order for 5 of our days and a lack of communication about its repair. - Not much storage space or even a cupboard for Hoover etc. - Towels for showering too small Positives: - Very clean with nice bathrooms and kitchen. - Nice quiet rural location.

The cottage was very good, fitted out to a high standard with a lot of thought given to providing us with most of what we needed on arrival.

So not just tea bags but a bottle of milk in the fridge and a Belgium Chocolate Fudge cake, logs, kindling,firelighters and matches for the log burner, clean and comfortable furniture etc. We will be going back.

Great, well appointed cottage, one of just six on a farm outside Winterborne Strickland near Blandford Forum.

Clean, everything works, lots of unexpected extras such as the ability to log into Netflix and Amazon Prime on the TV and electric charging points in the small car park. I’d recommend to family and friends and we’d stay here again.

The property was rather tired and a very muddled mishmash mash of cooking equipment, too many of one sort of utensils and none at all of another which you could have done with.

It needs a rethink . The shower heads and pressure was none adjustable, it was far to high and was quite uncomfortable to use . It also needs a rethink. Other than that not too bad.

A fantastic little cottage that suited our needs.

A great location to get to anywhere around Dorset, particularly the coast and beaches. A lovely local pub, The Crown, which serves great food and has friendly, welcoming staff. A few nice little outdoor walks in the local area. No convenience shops nearby. A short 10-15 minutes drive to the local Tesco. Stock up on supplies on the way to the cottage. Highly recommend this cottage.

We spent our first Christmas with just two of us and the dogs at new barn (we have been together over 30years) and we had a great time.

Great location you can start your walks from just across the road. Well thought out design to ensure comfort all round. Great facilities would recommend any body thinking of going to Dorset to chose this location as it is easy to visit many great places from this base

Great facilities, warm comfortable, nice fenced garden which was super so our two dog's could have an area to play and explore without bothering anyone else.

The games was a plus and I now know I am not very good at Air Hockey. There are lots of places to visit that are not too far away plus the village pub was friendly and made you at home "The Crown" is only 1mile away and worth a visit.

Was everything and more.

The CAKE.milk,tea coffee and sugar appreciated. All information in folder. Washing machine dishwasher a bonus. We can't wait to return only down side was living so far away and all the road works.

This cottage is on a complex of an old stable yard, and the facilities were first class - will definitely use this one again

The Cottage was in a quiet location perfectly situated for the whole coast line.

It was a beautiful cottage that was spotlessly clean and had everything you could ask for. We would recommend this place to anyone and we will be revisiting next year. Holiday was easy to book and helpful staff at the end of the phone. Very happy holiday makers xx

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away in Dorset, this property was perfect for our needs.

Plenty of space for the two of us and our two dogs. The property was exactly as described, the information pack had so much detail we knew exactly where to find the best local places to visit. When we next revisit Dorset we will be booking this property again!!

The location of the holiday cottage was a few miles outside of Blandford Forum as indicated on Sykes Cottages.

This gave us a better opportunity to explore different areas with the dogs and we found some fantastic walking opportunities with stunning views. New Barns was comfortable and everything we had expected, if not more. The enclosed areas to each house enabled you to have your own space, allow the friendly dogs to join in with the family sat outside (picnic bench) but also the opportunity to meet and talk to others staying on the complex. We will definitely be booking New Barns for our next trips to Dorset. The only negative I would like to point out is the arrival (3p.m) and departure (10a.m) times of the property, understandably the cottages need to be cleaned and checked for the next tenants but I feel that this could be improved or adapted for guests.

We've stayed in some very nice cottages but this was by far the best. The setting was beautiful and the cottage itself was fantastic - well laid out, very clean and equipped to a high standard with attention to detail and comfort. Sykes and the cottage manager were both so helpful. Would highly recommend both Sykes and Hedge End Farm Cottages. Thank you.
