Starling Lodge

It was a lovely place to stay, comfortable and spacious.

It could do with some pint glasses in the kitchen and the king beds were a bit too firm for us, the upstairs bedroom could also do with maybe a chest of drawers in the cupboard instead of just one shelf. The downstairs voice noise from people talking in rooms or watching tv echoes upstairs and through the floor, which I struggled to sleep through, not sure how you'd cure that though! Everything else was all good.

Starling Lodge was lovely, beds comfy bathrooms with good showers.

Kitchen is well stocked with decent quality items so it is like a home from home. Hot tub was the highlight and definitely utilised during our stay, the view is beautiful and calming and in the evening because of the lack of surrounding light the stars are stunning. Only improvement we would suggest would be a new sofa, I think it has seen better days and at the time we stayed the weather wasn't great so we did stay in and watch films etc. Another bonus for us was the electric car charger on site. It was really nice of the owner to take the time to show us the fighter plane they have, my son thought it was awesome he got to sit in and pretend to fly it! Overall a great place if you need a few days to relax.

Jo and Neil were lovely and always on hand for any problems we had.

The lodge was absolutely incredible and the view was even better, we had a lovely time and look forward to coming back :)

Overall it’s the best lodge holiday we’ve ever had.

Fantastic setting and unrivalled views. We will definitely be back asap. One comment I would say is the comfort of the lounge and garden furniture isn’t the best. Lounge chairs were not comfortable or supportive, and the garden chairs were very uncomfortable. Also the stuff in the kitchen was a little sparse. But I would be nit picking as it was generally a very comfortable stay. Neil and Jo looked after us well. A welcome hamper with the basics would have made it perfect, given there were no local shops, but again, nit picking. As I say we will be back asap.

Well set lodges in idealic setting , Jo and Neil,couldn’t have been nicer proprietors.

So helpful. Nothing too much trouble. Loved their dog, billy who came to visit most days and the alpaca who also made his way to see us daily. I can’t find any faults I’m happy to say. We will be back to visit,you soon.

A really lovely, well equipped lodge in a fabulous view with the most gorgeous views from the back.

It’s just what you need after a long winter and a relaxing getaway.

The location is perfect and the lodge was extremely clean.The views of the sunrise in the morning from the hot tub were amazing. Jo and Neil were around as was Jeffery the alpaca.It was so quiet .A previous review said just book it ,you will not be disappointed ,we can’t agree more. See you again.

We’ve had a wonderful time.

Very comfortable and slept well. Views are beautiful. Watching the sun rise was gorgeous. So lovely seeing the animals about. Considering it’s in grounds of farm there was very little noises and no smells expected from that. Great location for us visiting western S M and Ilfracomb amongst other places. Met Jo and Neil when they came up to check on the hot tub and fix fence; very friendly people who we chatted with easily. My only little niggles were the large clock not working, wardrobe draw not closing, downstairs toilet had problem filling, lid on the hot tub was a bit battered and couldn’t be fixed shut and some cobwebs but saying all that; it was not enough of a problem for us to need them being called out. I’m sure they would have been there straight away to sort it. We would love to go again.

Starling lodge certainly has the wow factor!

When we arrived to the property, it was a very rainy day however, that did not stop us from standing outside and enjoying the incredible views. We loved having Geoffrey the alpaca join us most days and seeing him wondering around. The property itself was very cosy. We were worried about being cold due to drop in temperature however the underfloor heating works wonders and if anything- we were too warm at times! Starling lodge is in a perfect location for anyone wanting to explore Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury and Wookey. We travelled as a couple and it was the perfect place for us to switch off from the hustle and bustle of our normal 9-5 week. We will absolutely come back next year- possibly make this an annual get away! For anyone looking at booking this property- do it!! You will not be disappointed!!

We was amazed at starling lodge the location was perfect.

The views overlooking miles of farmland out towards Glastonbury and cheddar was breathtaking .the lodge itself was perfect very clean and well equipped. The living space was large with a very well equipped kitchen. bedrooms was perfect sizes there was a double bedroom and a single room with bunkbeds on the ground floor also a shower room with toilet and sink. The 1st floor was spacious with a double bed in there was space for putting your clothes away. There was also an en suite with a shower sink and toilet .outside there was a hot tub this was amazing to use day or night .there was friendly animals roaming around the outside of the property .and of cause not forgetting Billy the farm dog he came everyday of our stay to say high and see what food we had for him . The owners Jo & Neil are the nicest people you could meet nothing was to much to ask them anytime of the day .There is Harrier jet from the Falklands war on site but unfortunately I never got to see it during my stay. I am definitely going to visit again

We bought 2 autistic lads from Birmingham with staff members we all had a lovely time, the 2 lads were smiling the whole time, and enjoyed looking the animals.

We had a fabulous week staying in Starling Lodge.

Very well equipped and probably the comfiest beds we have ever had in a holiday home. The owners are super friendly along with their dogs. Would love to come and visit again.

This property was absolutely outstanding.

Spacious and airy with well designed family spaces and bedrooms . The lighting was well thought out and kitchen well stocked. The view was incredible and the hot tub a total bonus. We relaxed from the moment we arrived and can't wait to return again . The hosts were so helpful and friendly.

We really enjoyed are stay at Starling Lodge.

The Lodge is fairly spacious and in a nice location. The views from the Lodge are amazing. The owners both Jo and Neil are really nice and are on hand should you have any questions. The only thing we found that was very slightly negative to us was that the large sofa is on the low side and a bit difficult to get up out of. Saying that it didn't in any way ruin our stay, in fact we are planning to go back next year. Thank you Jo and Neil. We would definitely recommend this Lodge.

The property was as described and more, clean, comfortable and everything we needed.

The beds are the most comfortable we have ever slept on when on holiday and the pillows like clouds, thank goodness for soft towels that were not white (we hate hard white towels). The scenery was amazing, visits from Billy and Alpacas roaming freely was so lovely. A visit to the Harrier was also appreciated and being able to sit inside too! Perfectly located for trips to Wells, Bath and Glastonbury - if you can leave the tranquility. Oh and we also saw satellites and shooting stars due to there being very little light and perfectly clear skies when we were there - all from the hot tub! Don’t miss out on a piece of heaven!

Its a comfortable warm lodge and location wise is perfect as its not far from bath,cheddar and burnham on sea. Thank you and would defo recommend!

We stayed in starling lodge 14th-17th October.

It was exactly how it was described and looked exactly how the listing was. We were so amazed at how big the lodge is and how much space there was. The amazing views from the lodge are amazing and it's lovely to be able to enjoy the scenery and peacefulness. We managed to stay busy every day. It was lovely to be able to relax in the hot tub on the night time and watch the sunset and stars when it had gone dark. Will definitely be returning again and will highly recommend. Jo is amazing and very helpful and friendly. Was lovely to meet the animals that are on the farm.

Starling cottage was a delightful surprise!

One of four cottages tucked away around a corner at the top of a hill, the cottage is spacious and beautiful with the most gloriously expansive views. The cottage itself had everything we needed and it was all in lovely condition, clean and perfect. The cottage is beautifully decorated and we felt like we were in the pages of a travel magazine! Our children enjoyed the hot tub, played ball on the grass, made friends with the dogs, ponies and alpacas. In short, we all had a fantastic stay. Jo and Neil are lovely, friendly and helpful. Neil was so kind to show us their Harrier seaplane. That was a jaw-dropping experience! We would highly recommend Starling Cottage and would definitely stay there again!

The chalet was fabulous, really well appointed and spacious, wonderful location - so tranquil, with lovely views over uninterrupted countryside towards Stonehenge.

Hot tub was clean and powerful - and well used by us over the weekend! Very well positioned for sightseeing, Went to Cheddar Gorge and Stonehenge....but also found a huge reclamation yard one day, which I could have spent a fortune at, and a Sunday morning car boot, which was good too. Jo, the host was on hand if needed, and very kindly posted back a toy that my 10 month old granddaughter hid under the armchair...I would have no hesitation in recommending this place and would go again. Instructions for the hob / oven would have been useful, as I am not used to ceramic hobs/electric, even with Google it was hit and miss, as I couldn't find the exact model, but none of us starved! All in all a memorable and relaxing family weekend.

The property is really good, as it has a wet room and downstairs bedroom it is ideal for those with limited mobility.

The views across to Glastonbury are beautiful, and thanks to enormous windows these can be enjoyed from inside as well as out. The hot tub was very welcome after a day exploring the area. It was lovely seeing the animals, alpacas, Shetland pony and sheep and highlight was the harrier plane which is available to be looked at on Sunday morning. A great accommodation and we will definitely be going back.

Amazing cottage, stunning location

A super stay at a beautiful, spotlessly clean lodge.

The large picture windows in the lodge provide stunning panoramic views and the views can be enjoyed from the hot tub too. Quiet and peaceful location but within easy reach of Cheddar, Glastonbury Tor, Wells and the coast. Our boys enjoyed seeing and sitting in the Harrier - an added bonus of staying here!

Absolutely stunning, the lodge and views from it.

The private hot tub was perfect, especially before and after a day spent walking Cheddar Gorge and Jacob's Ladder. We hope to return again soon and won't need to pack additional towels for the hot tub as these were thoughtfully provided, a hairdryer could be useful for some guests. None of us wanted to leave, it was so comfortable and relaxing we would all highly recommend it to family and friends.

Just returned from the most perfect Christmas at Starling Lodge.

The lodge was amazing. So clean and comfortable. A true home from home. The views are absolutely stunning. Owners Neil and Jo, catered to our every need and made a special visit to take us to see the Harrier Jet! Thanks for a lovely stay we would definitely recommend to everyone. Worth every penny.

This place is an absolute gem of a place, perfect in every way, owners were helpful and the views and animals were a joy ( especially Billy the dog) Thankyou.

Starling cottage is stunning, great size, great facilities, the hot tub was amazing and the views are breathtaking.

There are ponies and alpaca’s literally at the end of your garden. Ideally placed with surrounding villages a 10-15 minute drive away but secluded enough to feel away from it all in rural bliss. I cannot recommend this place enough. More than enough space for a family holiday, but cozy and quiet enough for a romantic weekend away. Will definitely be returning in the future and have already recommend to friends and family. Thank you for providing a beautiful place to spend an amazing long weekend.

Thé lodge was delightful and very comfortable.

It was spotlessly clean and had everything you could want for a lovely holiday. The views across the countryside to Glastonbury Tor are lovely. The photographs don’t do them justice. We all enjoyed the hot tub including our small grandson Alfie. The Sea Harrier was an added bonus both grandson and grandad thoroughly enjoyed climbing into the cockpit and finding out about the history. Thank you Neil and Jo for a lovely stay .

Fantastic Lodge very modern clean.

Amazing scenery. Quiet rural location. Great location for visiting nearby attractions such as Glastonbury, Wells cheddar. A little more information in welcome pack would be useful Hospital Dr emergency. But couldn't fault our stay lovely week away. Weather was good too. Hot tub fab

We had an amazing stay.

The lodge had everything we needed. The hot tub was a big favourite. Slept like a baby every night. Didn't want to go home felt completely chilled and the views breathtaking. Thank you

We stayed at Starling Lodge for two nights and the only problem was that we wanted to stay longer!

The property was immaculate, clean and very well equipped with anything we needed. The owners called in to welcome us and are really friendly and accommodating, letting us know that if needed anything we just had to ask - great hosts. The hot tub was great - especially overlooking the landscape views, so relaxing! We will definitely return in the near future.
