Lovely property, clean and tidy, would definitely go there again

I booked Shippon barn because I wanted somewhere in the area but away from traffic noise dog friendly.

My family and I were delighted with the barn. Everything worked as it should. The place was clean and comfortable. The shower was a treat to use. Loved the quiet! Carol our host very good at communicating and helpful. There were breakfast cereals and milk waiting for us. We will definitely go back there!

Absolutely lovely, clean, tidy and lovely little extras, biscuits, chocolate, tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

Lovely owner, there if you need her. Very peaceful. Short distance from the Fleet Air Arm Museum which was the object of our weekend away. Nice local pub - walk able for the energetic! Would certainly recommend and we have already booked to go again and told friends who are booking too!

I cannot think of a better place to stay, the Shippon Barn was perfect!

My husband and I had come for Christmas and New year, we brought our 93 year old Mother too, its was great for her for mobility issues, being on one level. Everything needed was provided. We had comfortable beds, it was warm and cosy, we only used the central heating as that was enough. We had plenty of space to entertain, we had alot of family visit, which was unexpected but there was enough space and seating and it made our Christmas wonderful! Carol & Glen were fantastic hosts, and provided everything for us, our stay was pleasant and relaxed. The extra little touches - mince pies and bottle of wine were very gratefully appreciated. We will definitely be back to stay and I highly recommend the Shippon Barn.

A lovely cottage set in a small Hamlet 2 miles from Yeovil.

Secluded but close enough to all amenities. Great base for visiting lots of areas. Lovely welcome pack both for humans and dog.

Carol and glen are excellent hosts they go the extra mile with there accommodation.

It's just like going to a hotel. There is also a wonderful paddock to exercise dogs. Well worth a stay.

We were at Shippon Barn for the second time and once again it was fantastic.

This time we had our dog with us and on arrival there was a welcome pack waiting for him, super nice. The cottage was again super neat and clean. We have already booked again for December.

We needed single level accommodation and hit the jackpot here!

Kitchen is very well designed and when you are using the worktops you are not in the way of other people. Bathroom very accessible and shower area doesn’t seep water across the floor. Enjoyed the cream tea left for us and hugs from the lovely cat. Outside would have been easy to use - we hit the heatwave so it was cooler indoors. Owners very friendly when we spoke with them. If we were holidaying in the area again would certainly consider booking again.

We stayed the previous year at Toms barn opposite and expected Shippon to be the same but sadly it wasn’t as good as our stay in Toms barn so really would recommend anyone to book Toms barn

The accommodation was clean, comfortable and welcoming, and was a pleasure to return to after visiting the local attractions. We only met Carol on arrival, but was fully aware that she was available should we need anything during the week. As others have said, the freshly baked scones she left us were delicious. Overall, full marks all round and we would not hesitate to return should we visit the area in the future.

We had a lovely stay at Shippon Barn, we really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and would happily stay again.

The jam and scones we're very welcome on arrival. The Dog paddock was very handy and a clincher for us booking in the first place. Facilities were accurately described and the owners were easy to contact for any needs. Some good local walks, and we can recommend nearby Mudford Rec, and Ham Hill Country Park (with the Prince of Wales Pub) as particular favourites.

We had a very comfortable week here.

Communication prior to our stay was friendly and informative. There was a welcome pack for us and for our dog, which was a lovely touch. The barn was spotless and well equipped and the owners were quick to respond to our requests for more logs and they didn't charge us for them. We would highly recommend Shippon Barn for a peaceful break.

Delightful holiday accommadation, very clean, efficient heating, brilliant log burner.

All eqipment you need and utensils for cooking or plenty of places locally to dine out. The owner provided plenty of logs and kindling for the fire. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very spacious with a great walk in shower. The only thing we would have liked was larger bath towels.

We had a lovely time at Shippon Barn over the christmas period.

Our host were very helpful and very attentive. Such a warm and cosy barn conversion we will definitely be booking again.

We didn't have particularly good weather during our stay however the accommodation was so cosy and well equipped we didn't need to go out. Thank you for the lovely scones and teas, coffee etc, they were much appreciated when we arrived. Certainly would like to return again next year.

We had a lovely time in the holiday property.

It was very comfortable, extremely clean and we had everything that we needed. The cream tea, tissues, cereals and milk and tea were a thoughtful and much appreciated addition. We would definitely stay here again.

Very clean, good facilities & a generous welcome pack. Shippon Barn is in a great location being only 2 miles from Yeovil & near to other towns such as Sherborne & Dorchester & National Trust/ English Heritage places of interest. The coastal towns of Weymouth & Lyme Regis are also less than an hour away. I would recommend Shippon Barn as a place to stay when visiting Somerset & Dorset.

from the welcoming home made scones and the thoughtfully basket of home made jam and teas and coffees to the clotted cream and pint of milk left in the fridge for us .this place was luxurious and it was so quiet .if you are thinking of booking shipping barn please don't hesitate book it it will be a happy memory etched on our hearts .the owner was lovely too .Thank-you for allowing us to take our two little dogs too .

The barn was home from home, immaculately kept, very comfortable and warm.

The barn was a great location, rural but close to everything. Carol introduced herself a lovely lady and kindly provided scones, jams and cream for us. Also dog treats and ball for my dog. I would definitely stay here again, it is a 10/10 property.

A peaceful setting ,in an area of huge interest,from artistic venues like The Newt and The Sherborne to stunning scenery of hills,sea and valleys.

We had a very comfortable week at Shippon Barn.

It's right in the Somerset countryside, but everything you need is on your doorstep, and it was immaculately clean. The weather turned unexpectedly cold but the owners were very quick to respond to our request for more logs and extra heating. The little garden is enclosed but the fencing is low and a larger dog than ours would easily jump over it.

Very welcoming with complimentary milk and scones, clotted cream and homemade jam which were delicious.

Beautiful property set in rural location but not far from main town of Yeovil.

Very comfortable place with lots of appliances. Not exactly wheelchair user adapted but more suited to a disabled person who is not wheelchair bound. Owners very approachable and happy to help with providing a homemade ramp for easier access. Very enjoyable stay, dog safe in the little garden too.

Arrived to a warm welcome, the holiday home is immaculately presented with thoughtful welcome packs.

There are soooo many extras that you really feel like you are at home. The location is secluded and peaceful, it was a joy to watch the bats flying around at night and the bees visiting the flowers in the garden. This quickly became one of my happy places and I am looking forward to returning. Only one slight negative the master bedroom bed is very squeaky and if you turn over at night you wake your partner, this however is negated by the how wonderful the whole experience was for us. Thank you for your hospitality.

First class accommodation in rural Somerset, close enough to several places of interest such as Sherborne, Yeovil, Wells, Glastonbury, West Bay and Lyme Regis to name a few.

The accommodation has all you need for a relaxing holiday. On arrival, we were greeted by Carol, the owner, and a complementary cream tea that included home made summer fruit jam - delicious! Great attention to detail, very well appointed, down to all the necessities in the kitchen, cleaning products, dishwashing tablets etc. Highly recommended.

Beautifully clean holiday let and everything we would require in the kitchen.

Beds comfortable and shower adequate for our needs. Pillows and bedding all need replacing and the duvets are in a sorry state, as are the towels, luckily we had brought our own towels. It would have been a nice gesture from the host to introduce herself on arrival, rather than waiting until the last moment as we were about to drive home.

So comfortable a home from home. Everything there. Scrumptious scones with a cute little welcome pack. Spotlessly clean. I was hoping for a comment book to put my feedback in so other people that stay can read them. But highly recommended.

A real home from home the owner kindly brought us a fan when the temperature soared to 30degrees.

The welcome pack and homemade scones were a lovely touch,also a special doggie pack full of goodies,my border terrier especially loved the ball which she brought home and is still playing with. I would highly recommend this property.

The cottage was delightful and spotless, the property owner had thought of everything including gestures such as a torch in the bedroom a night plug in the main area so one was not completely in the dark when visiting the bathroom.

A lovely welcome pack plus treats for our collie and a clean bed and bowls for her. Also a very quiet and relaxing spot We hope to visit again.

There was lots to do in the area, we wish we’d had more time to explore. We’ll definitely be back and hopefully for longer next time.

So quiet and peaceful in the countryside but only a mile from Yeovil and all its facilities. Absolutely perfect, everything you need is included and a great base for touring the area. Would definitely recommend and hopefully visit again. So many places of interest within an hour or less of the barn. Perfect hosts, perfect location and amenities. Definitely value for money and a desired holiday location.

A lovely quiet idyllic property.

Private pretty garden, enclosed so it’s dog friendly. We had a lovely warm week so used the garden furniture every day. Fab decor inside with a well equipped kitchen. Carol & Glen were on hand if needed. Fab welcoming treat of freshly made scones, homemade jam and clotted cream! Along with milk and a basket of cereal and hot drinks selection. Also lovely welcome treats for our dog. Highly recommended.

Lovely barn cottage, set In beautiful un spoiled country side, bit of a small lane to get to the property but worth it for the peace and quiet whilst there.

Hosts are very welcoming and the hot scones on arrival were just what was needed after a long drive.

We had a very relaxing stay at Shippon Barn.

It was our 40th wedding anniversary while we were there and we couldn’t have found a better place to stay . We especially enjoyed the extra touches like the cream teas and the gift for our dog. We loved it there so much we’ve booked to go back again in September. It was also reassuring to know that the owners were close by if we needed them.

We are a great stay.

The barn is very comfortable, It is warm and well equipped with fast wifi. It is in a beautiful rural location but close to Yeovil and Sherbourne. It is perfect for dogs as there is an enclosed area and plenty of local walks. The scones and cream on arrival were greatly appreciated together with the doggy treats.

My family from Australia thoroughly enjoyed their stay in this property and I would certainly recommend this holiday barn.

We had a relaxing stay, it was a great location for shopping at Clarks Village and visiting the local towns, we were very grateful to the owner for the welcome basket and scones.

I would advise a hand rail next to the shower and some simple marker strips on the shower glass as that would help eldery and disabled guests. We had a great time. Merry Christmas

A beautiful property.

We had a really comfortable stay for two weeks between selling our old house and completing on our new one. As it was December Carol had decorated for Christmas - a lovely touch. Everything was immaculate and all necessities provided. Would highly recommend for both long or short stays. Thank you. Sheila and David

The owners were so kind, friendly & helpful and provided welcome pack for dogs & thoughtful things for the humans!

The accommodation was comfortable, cosy, super clean and so very well though out in terms of what was in the holiday home; there was nothing that we needed that wasn’t there. Perfect for dogs as lots of great walks around. Lots to do & see around and about & we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Can’t recommend highly enough & will be booking again.

Everything you need for a holiday. Owners there if you needed them. All the little extras were a nice touch (tissues, cereal, selection of hot drinks) and the homemade scones and jam with cream.

We had a warm welcome from the owners, who were always on hand to give advice about the area.

It is a very peaceful setting ,a perfect place to relax and enjoy.

Lovely accommodation but lacking safety features in the shower room for disabled people need to put in handrails in shower and possibly a seat but a lovely place

This was a property with more than we could wish for.

When the weather turned particularly hot, Carol offered us lighter duvets. Sheets were changed in the middle of the two weeks and we appreciated some fresh produce from their garden. While we were next the owners home, we had complete privacy. A wonderfully quiet location which was perfect for exploring Somerset

lovely place to stay only thing that was disapointing was the washer could do with been replaced.

The accommodation is stunning you could not want for anything inside the barn it has everything you need: Everything is high quality, comfortable and clean and environmently friendly.

Homemade scones from Carol on arrival and is she is fantastic host and she was available if we needed anything but also gave us our privacy. My mum and i had a lovely trip we visited Wells and Yeovil nearby and would definitely recommend staying here.

So clean & cosy with everything we needed . Including quality bed linen , towels & kitchen equipment . The owners were very helpful , even tweaking the wifi to improve our connection . The home made cream tea on arrival was very welcoming & as we were staying a fortnight , we got more treats in our second week ! We found many interesting places to visit nearby - Wells , Frome , Shaftesbury , Wareham etc & we loved Yeovil Country Park for dog walking . Would definitely stay here again .

This cottage was a joy.

Lovely scones, homemade jam and cream to welcome us. The cottage was warm and very comfortable. All the furnishings, linen and cutlery etc were of excellent quality. Flowers on the table and lots of attention to detail. We lacked for nothing. We will certainly be back!! Thank you Carol for a lovely and restful stay.

The host were friendly and scones were ready for us which was lovely.

The barn was generally tidy, however the floor was not really clean, there were food crumps on dining chairs, and the plates and glasses were not all clean. The double bed was a bit springy and the twin room lost heat very quickly and cold at night. Heating control was complicated and electricity cut out during the night and reset the hot water control result in having cold shower. Location is good though, not too far from Yeovil town.

Plenty warm enough for the time of year and always hot water. Lovely touch to have some Christmas decorations up when we arrived we would highly recommend this property!

Shippon Barn was an absolutely perfect place to stay for us while visiting family in Yeovil.

A self-contained, dog-friendly, quiet country cottage with secure small gravelled garden. It is a comfortable, well planned & well equipped property, we will most definitely return. We enjoyed the complementary cream tea which was left for us by Carol, & our little terrier made the most of the dog treats too. The paddock is useful also for the dog's exercise. All in all a very relaxed place to stay. Highly recommended.

On arrival there was home made scones, clotted cream and home made preserve, this was just the start to the most enjoyable, cosy and delightful stay.

I would highly recommend this property.

Most important were the comfortable beds.

The extreme dark and quiet may not suit everyone buy I enjoyed it.

Our second visit to this lovely property this year.

This is a very comfortable well equipped holiday let. Carol, the owner, had baked us a cake because she provided scones, jam and clotted cream on our last visit and thought a change would be nice.. A thoughtful gesture. My husband and I highly recommend this property and the recently converted second property, Tom’s Barn, looks equally attractive.

Handy location near Yovil and there are a couple of nice country walks in the area. The wifi was intermittent, the bed was a bit creaky and some parts of the home are a little tired but overall a pleasant place to stay

Brilliant home made jam and scones as welcome. Spotless accommodation . Very COVID safe. Plenty of living space. Small contained patio area. Very pretty and well kept.

Our original booking was hit by first lockdown and we were resigned to losing our holiday and having to write off the rental.

However, Sykes made it easy to move our booking to a later date and we have just been able to enjoy our break.

I would prefer to be leaving the property at 11am and in the property by 4pm.

lt was a bit of a rush

A beautiful well maintained barn conversion in a secluded location with easy access to Yeovil and surrounding area’s.

The whole place felt homely and it was lovely having a wood burner in the evening. We enjoyed our few days here.

This lovely cottage gave us the peace and tranquillity of a small hamlet in the countryside - allowing us to chill out.

Yet, when needed we were within easy reach of Yeovil and various Somerset attractions for mornings, afternoons or days out.

It was a perfect place to bring our family and our dog.

The barn had an enclosed garden, dog bowls and a dog bed which made it much easier. The barn is well equipped and in a beautiful location. The hosts were very accommodating and provided valuable information about the surrounding area. We would certainly recommend and hopefully return soon!

Carol was great from pre-holiday communication to our departure.

We found a lovely cream tea waiting for us on our arrival which was delicious. The cottage has everything that you need with a lovely outside area to sit and relax, barbeque and dine. The location is ideal for visiting places such as Stonehenge, Glastonbury and even the Dorset coast which we travelled to twice, plus the many attractions around the Yeovil area. The accommodation is situated in a very quiet village with many lovely walks from the doorstep.

Immaculate and homely, It’s very quiet and Carol was brilliant. The little touches - the homemade scones and taking the boys to collect eggs really made this place special. We had a lovely time and visited some beautiful beaches. Highly recommended.

The owners were lovely together with the lemon drizzle cakes that were there to welcome us. Our dog was also provided for which was a very nice touch.

We enjoyed all the facilities that were available to us.

There was a lot of leaflets to go through to help decide where to go, but a thought would be to list things like where the markets were on each day of the week. Also dog friendly pubs in the vicinity would be useful. We were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed our holiday.
