We always look for somewhere quiet and the views were fantastic.

I lost my husband to the hot tub, which gave me time to watch what I liked on the TV! The kitchen was well equipped so if you didn’t want to go out you could easily cook. It was close to a farm shop (barley mows) which had everything you needed and you could have a lovely breakfast first thing when going out. We would definitely like to book again.

The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. The accommodation is well supplied with everything you need. Very clean. Well maintained garden with stunning countryside views especially from the hot tub. Located near a village with a good locally run pub. We would like to stay again.

We have just got back from an idyllic stay in a lovely cottage in beautiful countryside.

Our hosts were very friendly and were focussed on making sure our stay was perfect. They even insisted on carrying our bags in for us ! If you want to go somewhere for peace, tranquility and total relaxation this should be your destination. Sitting in the hot tub under the stars with a drink perfect

We have just returned from a wonderful weeks stay at The Shippon.

The hosts Sara and Ozgur were so welcoming and friendly. The property was just stunning, immaculately presented and everything you might need was provided, as well as some lovely surprises/treats. The grounds surrounding the property were beautifully tended to. Sara & Ozgur really take pride in their home. The property is close to some great places of interest and there are many suggestions in their visitors book. We cannot recommend the Shippon highly enough. If you like peace and quiet, stunning views and a luxury 5 star stay, this is definitely the place to come. We will definitely be returning.

Sara and Ozgur were extremely helpful and informative when we arrived and always on hand if we needed assistance. The location is very good for exploring Devon and west Dorset and Somerset. It was a real treat to see the wildlife from the kitchen window. The view from the hot tub was very tranquil, a changing landscape depending on the season, in June it’s very green!

We stayed at The Shippon from 11th -17th May.

When we arrived we were greeted by our fabulous host's Sara and Ozgur who showed us around property and all the amenities. We were both thrilled with cleanliness and all the comforts we needed for a relaxing stay. Sara and Ozgur made sure we were happy and settled in, couldn't have wished for a better start to our break to celebrate a double birthday. The property is situated in beautiful landscape with stunning views. It was peaceful and quiet, just an odd bleat from the sheep and lambs when it was feeding time, wonderful ! There are several good food pubs within easy reach and if you can drag yourself away from this superb cottage, you are in easy reach to the coast, and we would recommend a visit to Seatown, a lovely unspoilt coastal village and recommend eating in the Anchor pub. A couple of recommended places to visit for a good day out are Burrow Farm Gardens and Forde Abbey. In the evenings we took Ozgur's advice and made use of the hot-tub to stargaze in the unpolluted sky, magic !! Overall we had a wonderful break in a beautiful ,cottage in a lovely location and enhanced by excellent hosts Sara and Ozgur

What a wonderful 5 nights at the Shippon.

As soon as we arrived the peace and tranquility was apparent. Fantastic views and all the comforts you need in the exemplary accommodation and bonus of a hot tub also with countryside views. One of our best stays in Devon. Sarah and Ozgur were so welcoming and helpful. Easy to get to Beer which was lovely and the other seaside towns. We would highly recommend a stay at the Shippon and would gladly return.

From the moment we stepped into the accomodation we knew this was something special.

So much detail and thought has gone into the design of Shippon in Stockland, Devon, that we were both speechless. We will certainly be returning to this property and would strongly urge people to check it out on the Sykes Website

The owners of the property are friendly and welcoming.

The Shippon location is exceptional, with beautiful surroundings and views. It is a good location for visiting nearby towns and villages and National Trust properties. The accommodation is spacious, well thought-out, characterful and contemporary furnished. There is very little light pollution, so it is great for seeing the stars at night.

This was the most relaxing four days away we've ever had .

The views here are spectacular, and enjoyed from both the property and the amazing hot tub. Sara and Ozgur are lovely hosts who have literally thought of everything so that feel right at home here. This place is truly a gem. We will definitely be visiting again.

The Shippon is very comfortable, warm and peaceful, with beautiful countryside views — just what we needed for a relaxing break. We really appreciated the thoughtful touches, especially the gluten-free cake for me, and a slice for Dan, and the fresh eggs from the chickens. Enjoying the hot tub first thing in the morning and again in the evening was a real highlight, and the quiet surroundings made it easy to switch off. We were lucky with the weather and spent time reading, unwinding and enjoying cosy evenings. There’s plenty to see and do nearby — we visited Greenway, Knightshayes and Coleton Fishacre, all worth a visit, and also spent a lovely day at Seatown Beach with lunch at The Anchor and a walk along the coast. Would definitely recommend staying here

Outstanding property!

Spotlessly clean, well equipped kitchen, huge comfy bed, beautifully decorated throughout, great shower, cosy and warm. We had a wonderful week at The Shippon, we appreciated the peaceful location, a perfect sanctuary if you are in need of a re-charge. One of the best properties we have ever stayed at.

Everything was perfect. A wonderful warm welcome. The location was peaceful and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The cottage itself was clean and cozy, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was fully equipped, the bed was so comfy, and the living area was inviting — especially in the evenings. Loved the log burner. The outdoor space was another highlight. It was lovely to sit in the hot tub in the evening and enjoy star gazing and the quiet surroundings. The hosts were responsive and helpful, making check-in and communication smooth and stress-free. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would happily return. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a charming and comfortable cottage escape.

A lovely place ,clean , setting wonderful.

Nice point the magazines were up to date ,no 3-4 month old ones. The people that owned the place were very helpful with our arrival ,even carring our suit cases for us . the area of where the cottage was, truely stunning . Well worth a visit. You might want to visit Barley Mow,,,,,,,,,Great .

Such a beautiful location with stunning views from the private hot tub and plenty of log's for the wood burner for a cosy evening. The property was spotlessly clean and so comfortable. It was everything that we wanted from a short break away. We will definitely be back!

We loved this place.

Plenty of space for just 2 people and very very quiet. Hot tub at night felt very private and views were amazing. Kitchen is well equipped and the hosts were superb.

The Accommodation, the setting and the sunrises are beautiful.

The place is so well appointed that you'll want for nothing. Comfortable, cozy and the perfect chill spot. Brilliant for just stopping and enjoying the quiet or using as a lush base to head out into Devon and explore. I've done a few of these 'hot tub stays' and this is by far the best!

From day one we managed to switch off and recharge our batteries.

This is truly a little gem.

So cosy and comfortable with everything you need for an amazing stay. Owners are very welcoming and left us some milk, eggs and free reign to pick apples and grapes when we liked. We only booked a short stay but really wished we had booked longer. We didn’t want to leave. We are now looking at dates for another stay…

Excellent accommodation.

Some small glass desert dishes would have been handy. A chrome hanging rack in the shower would have made showering easier especially for women of a certain age. Get Devon Council to fix the potholes

Beautiful cottage set in a stunning location and maintained to a very high standard.

Hosts are very welcoming and helpful.

Sara and Ozgur made us welcome on our arrival, Sara even helping me to carry our cases across the ancient cobbled courtyard to our beautiful holiday residence.

The place was a glorious converted cowshed and judging by the cattle peering over the hedge they want to move back in. There were thoughtful touches throughout and the bed was huge and comfortable. We only stayed for three nights and wish it had been longer. The wall mounted charger was well located and we charged our Hybrid when returning to the property each evening. Perfect place to stay for south Devon tourism.

We had a lovely four night break at The Shippon .

Sara and Ozgur greeted us warmly on arrival, assisted with our luggage, showed us the facilities in the cottage and explained the hot tub controls. Everything was immaculately clean and we felt at home immediately in this beautifully presented, tastefully furnished , accommodation with its incredible outdoor space . We took a trip to the coast on our first full day , which was lovely ( particularly Beer) and not very far at all , but for the rest of our stay we walked locally and enjoyed the stunning countryside, returning to enjoy late lunches outside and the lovely views. We used the pristinely maintained hot tub at different times every day and it was nice to have the various experiences … warm sunshine, dusk with the bats putting on a display and later at night under the stars! We slept well in the comfy super king sized bed and found everything we needed to self cater. The property description says that The Shippon has a fridge with freezer box but this has now been replaced with a larger fridge freezer, which was a bonus and would certainly be useful for longer stays. We had lovely weather during our stay and so did not need to light the log burner but noted that it was already made up ready to be lit and that the basket of logs was generous. We intend to return and so will possibly check this out next time!

Fabulous holiday property.

Tastefully furnished and with great attention to detail. Set in a peaceful, stunning location with only the sound of birdsong. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners and felt totally relaxed from the moment we arrived. Lots of interesting places to visit, within easy reach of the coast, and the bonus of an excellent local pub within easy walking distance.

A beautiful hidden gem in the black hills.

Super comfortable and cosy, warm and inviting hosts, really was the most perfect break. Very well equipped kitchen and facilities which made the week so easy to adapt and feel at home.

The Shippon is just as pictures show, we had a very relaxing break, so comfortable it is like a big hug, especially the bed. The view, the peace, log burner and of course the hot tub were all wonderful and all because of the care and attention to details by Sara and Ozgur. The welcome gift of milk, cake and eggs were much appreciated. We had great walks near by, and close was the local pub with good food and also plenty of places of interest not far in the car. We had an absolutely fantastic stay at The Shippon.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm welcome from the lovely owners, who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. After a long drive, we appreciated a nice cuppa with the gifts of fresh milk and delicious homemade cakes, such a thoughtful touch! As were the eggs from the resident chickens, which we enjoyed for breakfast. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained, with everything you could possibly need provided. The kitchen was superbly well-equipped with modern appliances, including a coffee machine, dishwasher, and even a washer-dryer. They even thought of little details like plastic glasses and fizz flutes for enjoying drinks in the hot tub! Speaking of the hot tub, the views from there were breathtaking, and stargazing each evening was magical. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and we had some of the best nights' sleep during our stay. While we didn’t use the log burner, all the supplies were there, ready to go if we had wanted a cozy fire. All in all, The Shippon was the perfect getaway. Its an ideal base for explring Devon. We honestly didn’t want to leave! We can’t recommend it enough. Thank you to the wonderful owners for creating such a special place!

The Shippon was a fantastic property, Well laid out with quality furnishings and everything we needed for the perfect holiday.

Whether gazing at the stars in the hot tub or enjoying the complimentary goodies for breakfast whilst taking in the amazing views, it couldn't have been better. Thanks to our welcoming hosts Sara & Ozgur, we would definitely recommend and hope to be back.

Fantastic oasis of peace and comfort

Simple words can't really describe it.

Set in the most beautiful landscape, the property oozes relaxation. A gorgeous building with history. Makes you smile every time you enter. The hot tub is just the icing on the cake. No where in the world can you take in the views while enjoying the warm bubbles. Will most definitely be returning.

We walked in and went "WOW".

The Shippon is, as described, excellent. It was perfect. So tastefully decorated, so clean, absolutely gorgeous. The views are stunning. Sitting in the hot tub drinking in the beautiful countryside, was a perfect ending to lovely days out. Sara and Uzgor are the perfect hosts. Everything was provided for. They have worked incredibly hard in renovating and restoring the farm and you can see that they have put their heart and soul into it all. Nothing has been overlooked. An absolutely stunning place to stay. We loved it.

This was our second visit to The Shippon – my wife and I first stayed in the property in July this year.

The property is gorgeous, immaculately maintained, and set against the backdrop of the beautiful Blackdown Hills. Sara and Ozgur are the perfect hosts – on hand when you need them but allow you the space to relax and get away from it all. We were welcomed by a few essentials in the fridge and a very tasty Dorset Apple Cake. We can't wait to visit again!

We were welcomed and shown round by Sara who had also left us some delicious scones, jam, cream and milk and eggs from a local farm. The cottage is immaculately decorated and has everything you need to make your stay perfect. The superking sized bed is so comfortable and there is a lovely view of the countryside from the bedroom window. The hot tub was the perfect place to end the day relaxing while star gazing (due to no light pollution). Blackdown escapes is so peaceful and great place for a relaxing break, however the seaside is only approx 25 minutes away via car with plenty more villages and attractions not too far away within Devon, Somerset and Dorset. We will be recommending Blackdown escapes to all our family & friends.

Loved are stay at the Shippon very relaxing, Sara and Oscar was very helpful advised us on nice places to eat and places of interest, the hot tub was amazing.

The Shippon is amazing!

! There is nothing Sara & Ozgur haven’t thought about! We was welcomed with a cream tea which was beautiful & fresh milk and eggs from daisys farm. The kitchen has everything you need and you also have a bbq so we cooked everyday and had lunch out! The hot tub is a added luxury and although the weather wasn’t great for us we still took full of advantage of the hot tub in rain or shine, the views are beautiful and it is just so peaceful! Sara & ozgur are always there if you need them! I wanted to add something about the bed because oh my you will not want to get out of it!! We slept with the blind open slightly so that in the morning we had the view of the country side and every morning it was more beautiful to wake up to! The cottage is so cosy and relaxing you will not want to leave! We are already looking to book again! The area is ideal, you are close to so many beaches and the beautiful Jurassic coast. Can’t wait until next time!!

We had a fabulous week's stay at the Shippon despite the wet, changeable weather.

The property is superb, very tastefully furnished, with every mod con to hand. The setting couldn't be more beautiful or tranquil. This is without doubt the best Sykes property we've ever stayed in. Sara and Oscar were wonderful, attentive hosts and even left us a clotted cream tea and a few essentials on arrival. Thank you! We look forward to booking another stay at the property.

The accommodation was first class and was equipped with everything you needed along with the hot tub and amazing views it all added up to the most relaxing holiday in beautiful countryside but near enough to the coast so best of both worlds complete with friendly hosts on hand if needed

We have just returned from a 5 night break at the Shippon and we already wished we were back there.

Beautiful cottage in glorious country side. The cottage is ideal for a relaxing holiday with the hot tub overlooking the fields. Lots of thoughtful touches as well as everyday essentials. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to family and friends.

What a fantastic place!

The owners, Sara & Ozgur were very welcoming and have clearly gone to a lot of time and effort to make this a real home from home. It is decorated and furnished to a high standard with a very comfortable super king size bed. Outside you can relax in the hot tub, have a glass of bubbly or two and take in the wonderful views. If you are lucky you may even catch sight of the local deer, peasants, bats and hares. The nearby pub is a 15-20 minutes walk away where the staff are friendly and the beer/food very good. There are plenty of things to do in the surrounding area with the coast and National Trust walks all within a short drive away. If you want a place to chill and relax then we would highly recommend The Shippon. We look forward to returning.
