Anchorage
Description
This Victorian fisherman's cottage is situated beside the beach in the heart of Watchet.
With fantastic views over the beach as far as Wales, it is a smart cottage for families or friends.
The courtyard has a very special feature: stairs which take you up into the old net drying loft which is now a comfortable look-out with amazing Bristol Channel views and comfy seats for watching TV or playing on the PlayStation 3. From the pavement, you enter the main cottage with its charming sitting room with dining area and well-equipped kitchen.
Head up the steep stairs to a double bedroom with big bathroom, and then up more stairs to two charming bedrooms under the eaves.
At the back is the courtyard, which was once a hub of Victorian activity, but is now enclosed and partly covered and has a wet room shower and WC.
From here you can go through stable doors to a footpath which you share with the neighbour and your own terrace above the beach, a lovely place to sit in the sun and enjoy drinks or meals at the picnic table.
The shops, restaurants and pubs of friendly little Watchet are just 100 yards from this cottage, or watch boating life in the harbour marina where Coleridge is said to have met the ancient mariner.
You can enjoy fishing trips to catch your supper or take a nostalgic trip on the wonderful steam railway to Minehead.
With a little beach here and another sandy beach at Blue Anchor Bay, plus the Quantock Hills nearby, there's plenty of opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors.
Anchorage really is a wonderful base for the best of Somerset's lovely attractions.

What guests are saying
Anchorage was dirty /disgusting.
Did not use oven during are stay covered in grease & dirty.Kettle was dirty/stained & colour coming off.We purchased a new kettle which owner refused to refund after this was agreed via Sykes.Towels were hard & bleach stained .Yellow stained mattress looked like urine.Poorly maintained though out.Gate did not shut onto decking area so next door neighbours dogs entered this area jumping on outdoor furniture & weeing in the garden.Ants /flies in property we left on Thursday. This has caused so much stress & upset.I contacted Sykes from day 1 & was promised calls back which did not happen even after issues became worse. We was not offered an alternative property during our stay .I asked for a full refund which was not given but agreed to £633.I still feel we have had a completely ruined holiday & occurred extra expenses such as buying a kettle & eating out due to issues with oven .I would be grateful if a manager/boss of Sykes could contact me regarding all of above. As we feel totally let down by Sykes & owner of property. There was also issues with road closures outside property which the owner also said she new nothing about .We will not be booking with Sykes again or recommend img.Thank you again for a ruined holiday
Lovely comfortable house with everything you could need.
The outdoor seating area was fantastic with amazing views. Great to sit out in the warm evenings. The hayloft was a great bonus feature with amazing sea views and fab as an extra living room, the kids loved it. Watchet is a lovely fishing village with all the amenities you need. We had a fantastic week here.
A nice clean property in an excellent location.
We appreciated the terrace and the lookout, but feel that the property could be much improved if the "courtyard" was covered, as seemed to be case with the adjoining properties.
