Description

A charming and characterful attached former farmhouse, quietly situated in the heart of the attractive south Somerset village of Winsham on the borders of Dorset and Devon.

The cottage is a wing of the owner's barn conversion, believed to date back to 1750, and has been lovingly renovated to create a most comfortable holiday home.

Inside the spacious sitting room, you'll be impressed by the original beams and gorgeous inglenook fireplace, a sumptuous place to relax and toast your toes in front of the cosy woodburning stove.

The pretty farmhouse kitchen, with its warming AGA, will inspire you to conjure up some tasty treats for your group.

Upstairs there are four double bedrooms to choose from, the master bedroom benefiting from en-suite facilities, whilst the other bedrooms share the use of a really lovely bathroom complete with a roll-top bath as well as a shower.

There is a further shower on the ground floor ensuring none of your party will have to wait long to use the washing facilities!

For those who wish to relax away from the rest, there's a cosy snug complete with TV and a good selection of books.

Outside, on warmer days, make use of the small private garden with a patio, lawned area and a pretty fenced pond.

The local Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty provides many great walking opportunities, whilst for garden lovers there are a wealth of gems including Forde Abbey and East Lambrook.

Further afield enjoy the attractions of the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary, or how about a day trip to the beautiful cities of Bath or Wells?

The stunning Jurassic Coast with the resorts of West Bay and Lyme Regis, are also easily accessible.

This super farmhouse really does offer visitors a warm and comfortable home-from-home holiday experience, in a most beautiful part of the West Country.

From the moment we arrived and were met by the very welcoming owners Deborah & Trevor we felt at home.

Loved the homemade lemon drizzle cake. The property has everything you could need and it was very comfortable to be able to relax in the sitting room or snug, or sit and chat in the kitchen. Property well located to visit the many local attractions and coast. Village pub well worth a visit for a meal or just a drink. Would love to return soon.

A beautiful house in a great location.

It has a proper enclosed garden perfect if you have dogs and a very well appointed kitchen area with ample utensils, pans and fridge / freezer space. There is also plenty of space for dining inside or outside. The bedrooms are light and large with comfortable beds although the stairs accessing the upstairs are quite tricky for those with reduced mobility. The owners were very helpful and welcoming prior to our stay and we really appreciated the home-baked cake and welcome card left for us on arrival. Amenities in Chard are roughly 10 minutes drive; be careful around the village of Forton as there are some well-hidden speed bumps. Overall, we had a great time and would thoroughly recommend the house.
