At Helpful Holidays, we’re proud to be part of the close-knit Devon community, and we’re delighted to be supporting Devon Air Ambulance throughout 2025.
This incredible charity provides essential emergency medical care for visitors and locals alike, across rural and remote areas of the county including our very own Dartmoor. As part of our fundraising efforts, we’re excited to launch a new competition that invites children to get creative for a great cause.
Get creative for ‘Heli’
We’re inviting children of all ages to design a holiday home for ‘Heli’ the helicopter – and the sky’s the limit when it comes to creativity!
Your design could be a luxury lodge nestled in the hills, complete with a helipad and hangar for Heli to rest in, or perhaps a cosy countryside barn with all the essentials for post-mission pampering. However you imagine it, we’d love to see designs that are bright, original, and full of fun.
Entry is free, but we encourage parents to make a small voluntary donation, if they can, when submitting their child’s masterpiece.
Every donation will be matched pound for pound by our parent company, Sykes Cottages – helping to raise even more for Devon Air Ambulance and the life-saving work they do.
What’s up for grabs?
The competition runs throughout 2025, closing on 31st October 2025, and one lucky winner will receive a £500 Sykes Cottages holiday voucher to spend on a UK self-catering break during 2026.
How to enter
To take part, simply download or collect an entry form from the team at one of the events we are attending in 2025.
Alternatively pick up a form from the Helpful Holidays office: Mill St, Chagford, TQ13 8AW.
Complete your design, and return it to our team in person, post it back, or email it to victoria.rogers@sykescottages.co.uk.
Judging will take place on 1st November 2025.
A quick note for parents
Although there’s no charge to enter, we’d really appreciate a donation to Devon Air Ambulance via the QR code found on the entry form, or by visiting our JustGiving page . Every contribution will help make a real difference.
Competition Terms and Conditions
1. The Competition prize is made up of a £500 voucher, which can be used on a stay at any property listed with Sykes Holiday Cottages, or any of the regional brands associated with them.
2. The prize of the £500 holiday voucher is valid for 2 years from date of competition closing. Must be redeemed by 31st October 2027.
4. The competition can be entered by any child aged 4 to 17. A parent or guardian aged 18 or over must be listed on the entry form, who will be allocated the prize voucher.
5. The competition prize cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer; is non-transferable and there shall be no alternative prize or cash alternative offered.
6. Sykes Cottages will not be held accountable for any costs, losses, damages, and expenses (including travel fees) that the winner may incur in relation to the Competition or prize or as a result of any misrepresentation of the prize.
7. The prize winner is required to pay the ‘good housekeeping bond’ associated with booking this property. Please see section 4.12 of our booking conditions for more information.
8. The winner will be contacted by Helpful Holidays directly.
9. All entry requirements must have been followed to be entered into the competition.
