Why book a Lizard Peninsula holiday cottage?
The Lizard Peninsula is a beautiful and unique landscape on the south-west corner of Cornwall. Surrounded by turquoise sea, the Lizard has one of the warmest climates in Britain. Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the peninsula is a haven for rare plants and flowers and is a recognised area of botanical importance.
The Lizard has numerous coves, bays and beaches dotted around its coastline - the majority secluded and just waiting to be explored. The South West Coast Path runs for miles along the whole peninsula, rewarding walkers with stunning views and the chance to spot rare seabirds and marine animals off the coast.
Lizard Point sits right at the base of the peninsula and is the most southerly part of the British mainland. Lizard Lighthouse, set close to the coastline, has guided ships since 1751 and is still in use today. Learn more about its history with a visit to the Heritage Centre.
As well as being a paradise for nature lovers, The Lizard is also a paradise for food lovers! The area has some of the best restaurants in Cornwall, from bistro and gastropubs to fine dining delights.
Places to visit near a Lizard Peninsula cottage
Visit the coastal village of Coverack, situated on the eastern side of the peninsula. It has a beautiful beach that is sheltered by the bay - ideal for children to paddle in the water.
