Why book a cottage in Dorset?
Dorset is a county of chalk downs and cliffs, yew tree woodland and babbling streams. The spectacular coastline incorporates the South West Coast Path and the Jurassic Coast, which includes the iconic landmark of Durdle Door stretching out into the sea. The beach at Charmouth is popular with fossil hunters as many can be found on the sand after being washed from the cliffs. The seaside town of Weymouth has a large beach, flanked by colourful beach huts and a picturesque harbour. Visitors can also walk across the causeway to the Isle of Portland and discover museums, castles and lighthouses.
Further inland you will find wide bowls and vales of green countryside, country houses and pretty thatched cottages. A large portion of Dorset is designated as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, providing plenty of opportunities for pleasant walks and spotting wildlife. Food lovers will be in heaven as Dorset has some great local produce that you can either buy from farmers markets or sample when dining out in one of the hundreds of pubs and restaurants.
A holiday cottage in Dorset in great for families of all ages - there is so much to see and do! Take a look at this collection of cottages to secure your Dorset holiday.
