    Mrs Robinson

    “Lovely comfortable cottage.”

Stunning location. Large main bedroom and sitting room. Plenty of crockery and glasses. New oven to be installed this year as current not sufficient.

The property

¼ mile from the centre of Blisland is a beautiful place described by Country Life as ‘near perfect’.

A lovely listed 17th cent.

manor house (the owners’ home, used in the making of films) and, in its grounds, a long barn converted into three cottages called Tom, Dick and Harry.

One-hundred yard drive leads from a lane to the cottages (which are completely hidden from it).

The cottages share lawns (tables/chairs, barbecue for each cottage) on three sides - one walled, one large with granite-pillared swing and trees.

Beyond them, park-like field with massive plane tree slopes to stream (tiddlers) with island.

In all, 30 acres (sheep, cattle) for exploring: woods with unusual trees, remains of a Victorian water garden, grotto and Celtic crosses (medieval pilgrims en route to Falmouth, ship and Santiago de Compostela stopped here).

Masses of space.

Newly restored barn available for parties and weddings, a spectacular space with well-equipped kitchen (caterers can be recommended) - please ask us for details.

Coach house with washing machines, tumble driers, freezer.

Spring water.

Arrival after 4pm.

One well-behaved dog welcome, for a second dog please inquire.

No pets between 20 July and 31 August.

Each cottage has its own distinct character.

All relaxed, charming and well situated for exploring north and south Cornish coasts Harry, the largest and end cottage is ‘upside down’ and split-level with long open-plan living/dining/kitchen upstairs - 42' x 17' with high ceiling to the apex, ancient exposed timbers, kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, freezer, larder fridge, gas cooker) at one end, the rest a living/dining area with huge fireplace (woodburner), piano, TV/DVD, door to large lawn, and big end window looking across fields and valley to woods beyond.

Downstairs (stairgate), three bedrooms - a double (5' bed) with en suite bathroom (suite plus hand-shower), a twin (limited clothes-hanging space), and a room with 3' bunks, single bed (footboards) and French windows; shower-room and separate loo; slated hall to door to walled garden.

The great upstairs room won a commendation from the Cornish Buildings Group. Blisland: attractive village (old cottages, good pub, PO/shop/internet café, medieval church) around a green in wooded farmland below the western edge of Bodmin Moor.

Nearby, the River Camel (trout/salmon fishing and Camel Trail cycleway).

The sea at Port Isaac, 9 miles, or Polzeath (sand/surf beach) and Rock (watersports), 12.

Bodmin (town), 5.

About the location

BLISLAND

Bodmin 5.7 miles; Wadebridge 8.4 miles; Polzeath 13.2 miles; Tintagel 13.8 miles; Padstow 16 miles; Fowey 17.2 miles.

Situated under the western edge of granite-bound Bodmin Moor, the village of Blisland retains its age old character and is the only village in Cornwall to have a village green with trees. Around the green, cluster old houses and cottages, as well as the famous, award-winning Blisland Inn. The village is located less than three miles from the A30, and so provides an ideal central location for touring Cornwall. Nearby, Poley’s Bridge marks the beginning of the Camel Trail, a 17-mile long route, which follows a long disused old steam engine railway line to Padstow. The route is completely traffic-free and perfect for walkers and cyclists. You can even explore the trail on horseback and a purpose-built hide has been constructed between Wadebridge and Padstow, so even birdwatchers are catered for! Pull on your walking boots and explore Bodmin Moor, or venture to the coast with your buckets and spades and enjoy a day on one of the many beautiful beaches that stretch along Cornwall’s northern coastline. A fabulous part of the country for all!

Note: No pets between 20th July and 31st August.
