Why book a cottage in Bigbury-on-Sea?
Bigbury-on-Sea Beach is perfect for family holidays and adventure. The large expanse of golden sand is ideal for building sandcastles and there are many rock pools dotted around to explore. Discovery Surf School is situated right next to the beach and you can hire equipment or take lessons for surfing, paddle boarding or kayaking. The seafront has a pub and fish and chip shop and further restaurants can be found further inland.
Places to visit near Bigbury-on-Sea
Bigbury-on-Sea looks out to the tidal island of Burgh island. You can walk out to it at low tide or alternatively ride the sea tractor when the water is high. Further along the coast is the town of Salcombe, famous for seafood and shellfish, particularly crab. Trek out to Start Point Lighthouse, set on the most southerly headland in the country. The lighthouse has been guiding vessels since it was built in 1836.
