Why book a cottage in Kingsand and Cawsand?
Kingsand and Cawsand are twin villages located on the Rame Peninsula. Until boundary changes in the mid 1800’s, Kingsand was part of Devon, and one of the old houses still displays the boundary marker between the two villages. Smuggling was a major activity in the area's history and even though the tunnels have been sealed up, there are still many reminders dotted around the villages.
Kingsand and Cawsand both have their own pleasant beaches, ideal for families with small children. At Cawsand Beach there is a centre where you can hire canoes, kayaks and paddleboards and they also provide lessons if you are a beginner.
The villages are incorporated within Mount Edgecumbe Country Park, an 885 acre historic park with Tudor house, formal gardens and woodland. The South West Coast Path runs for 9 miles through the park.
Kingsand and Cawsand have a good choice of cafés and pubs if you want to eat out or simply enjoy a drink and admire the views across to Devon.
Places to visit near Kingsand and Cawsand
Pick up the South West Coast Path to the west of Kingsand and Cawsand until you reach Whitsand Bay. This sandy bay is over 3 miles in length and has some fabulous coastal views. Further along the coast is the small village of Seaton.
