Exmouth is a picturesque port town and popular seaside resort situated at the mouth of the River Exe. It is an ideal choice for a seaside holiday with something on offer for every family member. Exmouth has a large sandy beach that is perfect for building sand castles or relaxing and soaking up the sun.
It is one of the best places in Devon for watersports and you can try pretty much any activity you can think of. It’s especially popular for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Walkers and cyclists are similarly spoilt for choice with a variety of different paths and trails to explore. Walk along the Jurassic Coast, part of the South West Coast Path, and enjoy stunning views out to sea. The Exe Estuary Trail is a 16 mile route that follows the course of the River Exe around to Dawlish.
Keen bird watchers can spend hours at Exmouth Local Nature Reserve, a huge area of tidal sand and mud at the base of the Exe Estuary. Thousands of birds migrate here in the Autumn before returning home after winter.
Being so close to the sea means that Exmouth has a thriving fishing industry with many fantastic local seafood restaurants. Exmouth mussels are a local delicacy and are celebrated with their own festival, the Exmouth Mussel Festival.

Just north of Exmouth is the village of Lympstone which you can reach by following the Exe Estuary Trail. Follow the Jurassic Coast eastwards and visit the town of Sidmouth, famous for its striking red cliffs.
