“We had a fantastic stay at Honeysuckle Cottage and would happily recommend it.”

The property was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, and it really felt like a home from home. It made an ideal base for exploring Cornwall, with easy access to beaches and lovely harbour towns. After busy days out, it was great to come back and relax in such a cosy setting. Perry and Julie were excellent hosts—friendly, helpful, and always available if needed, without being intrusive. Overall, we had a wonderful week and would definitely consider returning in the future.

“Honeysuckle cottage was a real find even though booked late.”

We felt immediately at home. The cottage was cosy and well laid out. Everything one could need for a great week away. Very well situated near Helston with good approach roads. The owners came to see us after a day and made us very welcome. We will certainly return.

“Nice little cottage.”

I’m glad that all the comments about the drive didn’t put me off. This was one of the easiest access to a cottage we have been to. Once you are on the property drive, you need to do a 3 point turn ready for the next day. Ideal for families and walkers alike. There is a good bus service around the area and the bus stop is 200 yards from the cottage (brilliant for walkers), the SWCP is only 1.5 mile away. We had a nice week and definitely will come back again.

“Honeysuckle cottage was a great base giving us easy access to several superb gardens, the seal sanctuary, st Michael's mount and global communications museum is well worth a visit.”

Access to the lizard coastline with walk to kynance cove is a beautiful part of Cornwall. The house was very comfortable and super clean. Perry and Penny our hosts even dropped by to make sure we were ok. An excellent holiday base.

“Perfect um die Umgebung zu erkunden.”

In der Küche wäre ein Geschirrspüler wünschenswert.Die Funktionalität der Elektro-Heizung gibt einige Fragen auf. Leider war das Geschirr und die Küche nicht sauber, klebte alles und roch unangenehm. Sehr ruhige Lage, die Betten bequem und sauber. Keine Kaffeemaschine vorhanden, aber Wasser Kocher. Super nette Nachbarn . Alles in allem ein gutes Preis Leistungs Verhältnis. Absolut Empfehlenswert

The cottage is cosy and clean and has everything you would need. We loved the garden and really relaxed in the peaceful area. “Great little cottage for us, Ashton is an ideal location to be based for a family break, our Second visit to this property having come in 2020.”

It is as described for people booking, is very private and secluded but minutes away from the main routes. Nice week away for the family, best beaches are Praa Sands for easy access and for the more adventurous Kynance cove about 8 miles away. Many thanks for an easy stay .

“Overall we enjoyed our stay at Honeysuckle Cottage.”

Being an old property it was quite a cold cottage and we could find no information on how to put the radiators on if only for a short time each evening. The towel rail in the bathroom didn't work but after 3 days the owner managed to get it working so we could get our towels dry and have a shower in comfort. A hair dryer would have been useful and just basic condiments in the kitchen (salt, pepper, vinegar etc.) although we did receive a welcome pack to make a cup of tea, biscuits and crisps.

“This cottage was absolutely beautiful.”

The rooms were all well equipped and light and airy. Will definitely go back again. The driveway was tight but manoeuvred ok and had been pre warned. All you hear is bird song with no traffic as off the beaten track. There is nothing at all to complain about this cottage except wanted to stay longer but with work commitments couldn’t.

This beautifully clean quiant, home from home cottage is perfect for a holiday. Highly recommended this cottage for your stay.Everything you will need is here. Just bring your suit case. Lovely quiet location. Great walks on the doorstep. Short drive to amazing beaches,stunning scenery and the beautiful Peninsula of Cornwall. Just perfect.Sad we had to leave. Well presented modern and clean . The garden was beautiful and if we hadn't been so busy out and about would have lived to have used it more .It was like another room . The position to local beauty spots and places to go was ideal . The fact the cottage has ample parking was also a plus .We have an Audi A3 and had no trouble . We visited the local pub The Lion and the Lamb and found it to friendly and welcoming and the food was good too . We had a warm welcome frome Perry and Julie to ,plus a little goodie pack and fresh milk ! There are so many more places to explore I'm sure we will be back .Highly recommended

“We have had a wonderful stay at Honeysuckle Cottage, despite wet weather and a poorly baby!”

It was spotlessly clean, comfortable and peaceful. The garden is lovely, and the cottage is perfect for families with young children. The driveway was not a problem at all, so don't be put off by other reviews. We have a chunky estate car, and it was easy enough to negotiate reversing out of the driveway and onto the lane. This is a great spot to explore some of the best of Cornwall, with so much on the doorstep. We'll be back!

A rough potholed and narrow track leads to the property. Manoeuvring is difficult and protracted; even a Mini would have difficulties. There appeared to be no other options within a reasonable distance

Thank you for your feedback and we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay at the property. With regard to the local pub we have only had positive comments from other guests. It is pub grub served here but, locally in Porthleven, you have a vast supply of excellent quality food establishments. The lane to the cottage is an unmade, single-track lane, with Cornish cottages along one side. We actually own a 4x4 and we have no trouble turning the vehicle within the driveway. Property Owner

“Lovely cottage.”

Clean and very pretty. Fantastic location with playground virtually next door. Perfect for exploring so many wonderful places within 30 minute drive but also only 5-10 mins drive from porthleven, praa sands and the coastal path. Drive is a bit tricky so recommend bringing a car rather than VW van if you can but it was do-able and you can always leave van on the road nearby. Stunning wheal prosper nearby - an old disused Cornish mine overlooking rinsey cove - perfect for a picnic or an inspiring morning run.

“Quite a small cottage but spotlessly clean and comfortable.”

Away from all the crowds but less than a half hour drive from the beautiful St Ives. A welcome pack awaited us which was very much appreciated after a long drive to get there. The drive was a little difficult to nagivate at first as it’s very tight and quite dark at night but we soon got used to it. Overall a lovely little cottage which we would highly recommend and would love to return to .

“An excellent week in this rather compact but extremely functional cottage.”

Perry was very welcoming and we had a very comfortable stay. We played golf at both Mullion and Pra Sands and we can recommend both. The coastal walks are of course beautiful and we were lucky to have mostly lovely sunny weather. On the day it was foggy and damp we went to the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth having pre booked an entry time. It is absolutely wonderful and well worth visiting. A dishwasher would have been nice ( rather than a washing machine for just a week) but understand due to lack of space.

“Great week visiting Cornwall in odd times!”

Location was good for getting to beaches by car with young kids and days out . Good size cottage in hidden spot, secure garden for children. Helston a short drive for supermarket etc . Local beach at Rinsey cove well worth a visit, steep path - walk there as car park small. It was great to arrange all of the booking from my phone, all went to plan . A nice cottage for small family or couples. Recommended .

The hosts left a welcome pack of gifts and brochures of things to do whilst there. We visited many local coastlines and gardens. The house also had a garden with chairs to relax. The cottage was in a good location not far from a town where we could buy local produce.

“Honeysuckle Cottage is comfortable, clean and warm.”

The cottage is well equipped and there is a well-kept private garden if you wish to relax outside. Access is down a short, narrow rough track, but there is ample room to park. The owners, who live nearby, are friendly and helpful. Honeysuckle Cottage is in an excellent position for exploring the far southwestern end of Cornwall including the Lizard headland, St. Michaels Mount, Porthleven, the Penrose Estate, Trengwainton Gardens, Godolphin House, the Tin Coast and many other places of interest. Evening stroll at Risley Head and Prussia Cove are highly recommended . Don't bother with tacky commercialised tourist trap of Lands End unless you really have to; Cape Cornwall and Lizard Point offers a much better experiences. We weren't very keen on the 'chips-with-everything' food in the local pub, but there are plenty of good restaurants and pubs in Porthleven, and there's a good local supermarket by the car park that stocks a lot of locally produced food.

A good central position for touring this part of Cornwall. Shops for supplies just a short car ride away, very good mini market store in Porthleven. Cleverly converted by the enterprising owners, this attractive single storey outbuilding has been transformed into a beautifully presented holiday home.

Step inside and the attention to detail is evident with the harmony of polished pine floorboards imparting natural warmth and a sense of flow throughout the interior.

Open style for convenience and innovatively arranged to maximise space, the living room features a smart cream kitchen with oak worktops along with clearly defined dining and seating areas.

Examples of the owner's craftsmanship as a Potter are evident in the artefacts displayed and pictures from well known local artists adorn the walls.

Patio doors opening onto the garden afford the main bedroom a sunny double aspect, whilst the twin bedded room positioned opposite the bathroom is neatly presented.

Time can be idled away relaxing in the south facing garden, a private and sheltered haven in which to enjoy al-fresco dining on a balmy summer's evening.

Tucked down a lane on the edge of the village within walking distance of the popular Lion & Lamb pub, when you feel the need to explore keen walkers will find ample opportunity for scenic coastal rambles over National Trust land to Rinsey Head and down to its rugged cove or westwards to the golden stretch of Praa Sands beach and eastwards to the quaint fishing harbour at Porthleven.

Keen golfers may like to try their skill at the nearby Praa Sands Golf course.

Well positioned for touring the Lizard Peninsula, Land's End or St Ives, a fine choice of beaches and tourist attractions await your discovery.

Close by a walk up Tregonning Hill will be rewarded by superb panoramic views encompassing two coastlines on a clear day.

HELSTON

Porthleven 3 miles; Falmouth 12 miles; Penzance 14 miles.

Helston lies at the western gateway to the Lizard Peninsula, a large area of downland fringed by a beautiful and spectacular coastline. Helston is a pleasant busy market town famous for it's Flora Day Festival and the many stories and legends about the "Furry Dance" are told in the fascinating Helston Folk Museum. Nestled in a tranquil setting is the National Seal Sanctuary on the Helford River, where there is plenty of entertainment watching seals play and feed. If it is thrill rides that excites you, then Flambards theme park will keep you amused all day and also has excellent living history experiences. Further afield is the harbour town of Falmouth to the east and Land's End to the west. Helston is a wonderful holiday destination offering plenty of attractions for the whole family. By car reach numerous outstanding beaches, including Porthleven Beach, Praa Sands Beach, and Gunwalloe Church Cove Beach, with Loe Bar offering a dog-friendly landscape, along with the chance to join the stunning Cornish coastal path.
