“The location of the property is excellent, and the new kitchen is nice but there’s a lot that needs improving.”

The cottage is generally quite shabby, in particular the bathroom. The kitchen, oven, hob and washer are new, which is great, but the shabby decorating around the kitchen and the fact that it has been filled with such a ramshackle mismatched selection of things really lets it down. There is too much stuff (5 bread knives and a trifle set??) and it’s shabby. Much of the crockery is chipped which is very unhygienic. There is too much stuff (5 bread knives and a trifle set??) and it’s shabby. Much of the crockery is chipped which is very unhygienic. The soap etc having such a small amount in (not enough to last the week) is a let down as is the fact there is no welcome pack whatsoever (disappointing given the price). The stairs desperately require a stairgate. The second bedroom being so close to the stairs is so dangerous for guests like us with children. Also, it’s a bit of an imposition expecting guests to strip beds etc before they leave.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you liked the new kitchen. Thank you for bringing to our attention the points raised in your feedback. We haven't ever been asked to provide a stairgate and we do not have a stairgate listed as being available on the website. Had you enquired prior to your arrival you would have been made aware of this and you could have then brought a adjustable stairgate with you. The crockery is replace constantly, so we are sorry if you found some chipped items. Property Owner

The property

In Edmonton, two pretty, terraced cottages with views from upstairs over the Camel estuary or Bodmin Moor.

They open from a courtyard of cottages on three sides, the pub on the fourth.

At their back, an open lawned area.

Primrose Cottage: front door from courtyard into neat kitchen/dining room (washer-drier, microwave, fridge, electric cooker), leading via archway to living room (woodburner) with TV/DVD, garden views and glazed door to lawn.

Steep stairs up to two bedrooms - a double (glimpses over rooftops of estuary, Padstow, Stepper Point and the sea) with TV, and a room with twin beds; bathroom (suite, shower over bath). Edmonton: hamlet of former stone quarrymenÂ’s cottages (no working quarry near now), excellent family good food pub.

Little-used lane runs one mile down to the Camel estuary (birdwatching) and Camel Trail (cycleway).

Wadebridge, 2 miles; Padstow, 6; the splendid Trevose peninsula beaches, 7½ miles; Camel Valley vineyard (tours, tastings), 8.

Excellent golf, walking, watersports and riding nearby.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
