“This isn’t criticsim, please take thiis review as a thought for the future to improve a stay at the property for your guests.”

Really felt that the lounge of the property lacked warmth, homeliness and style. The rest of the house was a mix between old and modern, perhaps one or the other would have been better, but the lounge is something of nothing. The sofas are past their best, a nice coffee table instead of a trunk repainted which is hideous, a few nice rugs on the cold looking floor, repaint the walls so they look better, at present looks scruffy as if property has been flooded and paint has come off. The sofas are past their best, a nice coffee table instead of a trunk repainted which is hideous, a few nice rugs on the cold looking floor, repaint the walls so they look better, at present looks scruffy as if property has been flooded and paint has come off. Some homely colour in the room would work wonders, a nice log basket for the logs instead of the plastic thing in the corner, don’t even now what to call that. The sofas smelt of dogs which isn’t pleasant, why are they allowed on the furniture anyway when humans can’t wear outdoor shoes inside the property!!!!!

Thank you so much for your feedback. To reassure you, the en suite shower issue is now solved - the shower plug stopper just needed to be reinserted. The part-flaking painted walls in the living room are definitely not a result of any damp or a flood! When this very old cottage was first built as a toll house beside the River Fowey, it was erected on a slab of rock. What you can see is natural salt ingress, which could be prevented/limited via chemical injections into the original stone walls but we don't want to do this, it doesn't feel right. The original pillars on the drive, similarly, we don't want to move or remove something so original to this very old property in order to widen the drive. We take on board your comments on sofa comfort. We will look into this! Dog hair can be such a problem but our wonderful cleaner does try her best to keep on top of it and she changes the sofa covers regularly. We ask all visitors to keep their dogs off the furniture but people and their pets can bring their home habits with them and we know it is appreciated by many returning guests that our holiday property remains dog-friendly. I am truly sorry that our cottage's mix of vintage and modern isn't for you, we have tried very hard over the last couple of years to make the cottage as comfortable as possible whilst retaining character but we fully understand that the approach isn't for everyone, and thank you again for your honest feedback. About the location

TYWARDREATH

Fowey 3.3 miles; St Austell 6.3 miles.

The pretty, historic Cornish village of Tywardreath, meaning ‘The House on the Strand’, lies in the heart of Daphne du Maurier country and features in her book of the same name. St Andrew’s, the village church, is said to have the best peal of bells in the area, while the village has a lively community, centred round its excellent pubs and range of shops. There are several safe, sandy beaches close to the village, with a variety of watersports and leisure activities available. Par, a small, china clay port with a dog friendly sandy beach is a fifteen minute walk from the village or 5 minutes in the car, home to a main line railway station. Polkerris Beach, a 30 minute walk or a 5 minute drive away, has a beachside restaurant, pub and watersports centre. The attractive waterside village of Fowey is just three miles away, from where there are some dramatic cliff walks to Gribbin Head, passing through much of du Maurier’s familiar landscape. There are many family attractions in the area, including Mevagissey and Charlestown harbours, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
