    “Basic, uncomfortable, forgettable.”

This is a case of lots of small irritations accumulating into a deal breaker. We stayed for about 2 weeks, after a while we all realised that it was actually quite a dour little place. It's on three floors and the bottom stairs are a bit lethal so watch your step, if you are taller than 6ft watch your head. The kitchen has no window, and even though it was well equipped, it was difficult to use. None of the pans are non-stick.There is a washing machine, everything was there except washing power ...

The kitchen has no window, and even though it was well equipped, it was difficult to use. None of the pans are non-stick.There is a washing machine, everything was there except washing power. The most irritating thing was after the wash I realised there was no clothes horse only a small radiator airer which didn't work, so pants and nickers were on every heater in the house! The heaters are difficult to use with digital displays, so many times we arrived home to a cold damp house. The carpets were functional and tired with various stains and marks. Modern sofas with miserly cushions. Cheep room scent is a no no. The TV remotes didn't work. The bedroom (all very dated) pillows were flat and basic. This for me is a massive deal breaker, when away from home the very least everyone should expect is a good nights sleep. on the whole not a wonderful experience, its obvious that Sykes own this as it lacks a human touch.

The property

In the heart of Mousehole, 200 yards from the pub, shops and harbour, a split-level, terraced, 18th cent., Grade II listed, fisherman’s cottage with a tiny, traffic-free lane at the back.

Front door from little no-through road to hall; cosy living room (TV/DVD) dominated by a fun mural scene of Mousehole’s past and good pictures; on the same floor, a single bedroom.

Stairs down to large fitted kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, washer-drier, microwave, fridge-freezer, electric cooker, TV/DVD); bathroom (suite, shower over bath); loo; and back door to lane.

From the hall, steep stairs up to two more bedrooms with window seats - a double (5' bed), and one with two singles, washbasin and view of the sea over rooftops.

Sleeps maximum of 5, including babies.

Loading and unloading outside; car park, 200 yards.

A quirky little cottage, excellent for exploring Mousehole and west Cornwall. Mousehole: perhaps the prettiest Cornish fishing village; horseshoe of granite cottages, shops, good restaurant, cafés, pub round its harbour.

Little sandy harbour beach.

Good walks.

Newlyn (busy fishing harbour), 1 mile.

Penzance, 2; Porthcurno (Minack Theatre), 8; Sennen (good sandy beach, surf school), 10; Land’s End, about 12.

A fabulous coastline and miles of spectacular walking characterise the area, with seabirds, seals and wild headlands leading just around the corner to Land's End. The Minack cliff-top theatre is a few miles along the coast, while reminders of the region's ancient past in the form of Dolmens and standing stones appear everywhere.
