Description

A handsome detached house with commanding views over Padstow to the Camel estuary. Wonderfully secluded with a big garden, it doesn't seem possible it could be in the heart of this special and famous town. Thirty yards of passageway lead to the centre of shops, pubs, restaurants, cafés; harbour, 150 yards. Lawned garden to the front (patio, little shaded raised deck, table/chairs, BBQ). Patio doors from garden to lovely spacious open-plan sunlight-filled ground-floor, comprising conservatory/dining room/kitchen (slimline dishwasher, microwave, gas hob/electric oven) and living room with TV/DVD and 'living flame' gas fire, all looking south to the garden. Big utility room (washing machine, tumble drier, fridge-freezer, sink) with space for boots, bicycles and surfboards, and two external doors. Downstairs loo. Stairs up to three bedrooms, all with great views - a double leading through to a sunroom with comfy seating, table/chairs and views; a room with double bed plus single; and a room with 2'6" single plus child's cabin bed (5'6" x 2'). Bathroom (suite with separate shower). Loading/unloading on quiet road via 40 yard sloping path. Free road parking possible, but not guaranteed; car park, 300 yards. Just right for those who want the lively buzz of this little town, plus privacy, relaxation and space too.

Padstow: very attractive old small harbour town (excellent restaurants, Rick Stein's base) on the River Camel's sandy estuary. Many fine beaches very close and headlands for walking; sea birds. Pedestrian ferry to Rock (watersports, sailing school) and very good golf course (St Enodoc).

Without doubt the best self catering accommodation we have stayed in.

Norma, the owner, is super helpful and an absolute delight to deal with. The house is beautiful, well appointed and comfortable. Extremely spacious and in a great location in the centre of Padstow. Would highly recommend. We will be returning hopefully!

The Mount was a great place to stay.

The position is wonderful hidden away but right in heart of the town with fantastic views from the first floor conservatory extension. The house was newly decorated and felt bright and welcoming. We only used one bedroom but found it comfortable with good quality bedding and towels. Shower was great with plenty hot water. The garden would have been a lovely bonus if only our weather had been better. The only minor issue which some people might struggle with is the unloading/loading at the beginning and end of the holiday, whichever option you take involves parking on either a narrow or busy lane and taking luggage either up or down a slope whilst the driver needs to remain with the vehicle. Parking in the main car park was reasonable £29 for the week and is a pleasant 5 minute walk.

We had a lovely time in Padstow.

Location is 10 out of 10. Views from bedroom sunroom are stunning. Entrance to property had a huge hole in gate and looks like it’s been like that for along time, also Gate didn’t close or lock. Would have preferred for both gates to be secured and not easily accessible by all. We did bring 2 dog gates so used these to block access from hole and path to other gate. Would be nice to have a curtain on sliding door for privacy from passers by and on door from outhouse/living room. Garden table rattan under glass is broken, garden furniture old, tired. Would look better without or replaced. Kitchen corner cupboard is hanging off. Hob filter hasn’t been changed for along time but there is a spare in the drawer. We changed bag in the hoover as full to brim, we hoovered daily. Lamp shades wonky, old, stained, shabby. Curtains have stains, need a wash or replacing and hanging properly. Stains on carpet and rug under coffee table. Sofas are small and dirty, stains and tired looking. Bed in 2nd room has missing bolts both sides from middle bar. Pillows, duvets are thin and of poor quality. Mattresses are thin, I bed hopped but partner did sleep well. Blinds in 2nd bedroom have a few broken slats. Deeper clean once a month to catch cob webs etc. Above was shared with owners and they confirmed they were aware of issues and would be looking to resolve. This should have been shared with us prior to visit and reflected in the price to show that they care for customers not turnover. Unfortunately you can’t share photos to support review on this platform.
