My wife and I visited in Autumn and enjoyed the cosy comfort, clean and tidy with all that we needed and more.
. peaceful and relaxing atmosphere and the hot tub a cherry on the cake!
My wife and I stayed here for four nights with our dog.
We couldn’t fault our experience and would highly recommend Leycroft Valley. Location: Leycroft Valley is ‘off the beaten track’ but this enables a sense of retreating into the countryside with luscious greenery and birdsong. You’ll need a car to explore, but it’s not too far to get onto the main roads. The site has a number of lodges but it didn’t feel overlooked. It didn’t seem too busy (October) and we weren’t disturbed by noise at any point. Bringing a dog: It’s ‘dog friendly’ and that really was true - plenty of grassy patches, conveniently placed bins and a useful welcome pack (mat for dog bowls, poo bags, a ball and treats). The daily dog charge (£12) did add up, but it wasn’t a dealbreaker. We didn’t explore any dog walks near the site, so we can’t really comment on what those options might be. Accommodation: The lodge itself was perfect for our needs and exceeded expectations! It was clean, tidy and welcoming on arrival. In the kitchenette there were four pieces of all crockery, cutlery and glassware. There was enough pans, bowls and equipment to cook most meals (we managed a roast!). They provided washing up liquid, a cloth, sponge and tea towels in addition to four tablets for the dishwasher. The bed was very comfortable with decent pillows. The bathroom was clean and functional with a decent shower. The towels provided were soft and ‘bath sheet’ sized, which is another example where the management could have skimped on the amenities but chose not to. The decking area was pleasant with a table and chairs. Of course the hot tub was lovely and was clean and warmed for our arrival. We were impressed with the WiFi - we were warned that it might be slow (maybe in high season?) but we got a fast connection and were able to stream Netflix on the smart TV without issue. Staff: The staff went above and beyond. I lost my wedding ring down the decking on the first day(!) The team were so thoughtful and responsive. A big shout out to Alan, who dismantled the decking and cut down the foliage to search. Manager Jo also donned her wellies and gloves to look. In the end it was two volunteer metal detectorists that managed to locate it, and we were so grateful for the co-ordinated effort which meant the ring was found. You can definitely sense whether a place cares about their guests by how issues are dealt with, and hands down, these guys were amazing!! We would thoroughly recommend Leycroft Valley to others. Thank you to everyone who made the stay so great.
