“Excellent accommodation.”

It was lovely to be welcomed by the host on arrival, with a pint of milk waiting for us in the fridge. Richard showed us round the annex and answered questions about the local area (location of nearest petrol station!). The annex itself is beautiful, spacious and so peaceful; the only sounds are the sheep in the fields and the occasional plane flying by - bliss!

“A Wonderful Stay with a Truly Exceptional Host From the moment we arrived at the Annex Chetnole, we felt warmly welcomed.”

Richard, the owner, greeted us in person and gave us a helpful tour of the property. We really appreciated the thoughtful welcome pack with fresh milk and eggs, perfect for making a cuppa after our journey. The Annex was spotlessly clean and well-equipped, with a useful guest information folder full of local tips, including nearby shops and things to do. We had a fantastic time exploring the area. Highlights included a magical day in Glastonbury, an underground tour of the Clifton Suspension Bridge, and a bit of shopping in Bristol city centre. There's even a charming little ice cream shop just five minutes’ walk away, serving delicious homemade flavours. If you're heading into Bristol, we’d recommend using the Park and Ride, parking charges in the city can be steep. On our final day, just as we were leaving, our daughter accidentally locked the car key in the boot. Richard was an absolute star, he reassured us straight away, told us not to panic, and even brought us milk so we could sit down with a cup of tea while we waited for the mechanic. We wholeheartedly recommend the Annex Chetnole. It’s a well-located base with cows mooing in the morning and Richard truly goes above and beyond for his guests.

“We were warmly welcomed by the owner, who was very helpful.”

Property is well equipped and was very clean. Ideal location for day trips to Bristol, easy to get to the park and ride. Great views from the property, and we enjoyed the outdoor space and local walks, especially the footpath to Dundry village. One minor issue: the proximity to Bristol airport's flight path. Flights stop at night and we became used to the daytime air traffic as our stay progressed, but we feel that it should be mentioned in the listing. Thank you, Richard, for making us so welcome.

I am sorry that you had a minor issue with aircraft traffic from the local Bristol airport. Bristol airport has several flight paths over the local Chew Valley area. I will recheck the listing and Liaise with Sykes regarding mentioning something within the listing regarding the local airport and flight path to ensure that future guests are made aware before booking. We get mixed reviews from guests, some like watching the planes, some don’t like them and others haven’t taken any notice of them. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. “Great property for a small family of 5.”

Lovely lounge, and a spacious kitchen. Stair-gate and high chair were provided and was very safe around the house. Excellent scenic view from the house in 360 degree. A lil animal farm selling Milk & Ice Cream is next door making it a wonderful place to stay. Owner is a very kind gentleman. Will visit again. Thank you

“Lovely stay at Annex Chetnole.”

Used as a base to explore the Somerset countryside. Well equipped kitchen and very comfortable sitting room. A little challenging for head height upstairs but not really a problem for a week!

“This is a very comfortable, clean cottage, and includes everything you would need.”

Owner (next door) and his family very helpful. Views to rear are fantastic. The only one thing that would improve it, is the addition of a washing machine.

“We spent a week with our son at Annex Chetnole over the Summer Bank Holiday period.”

The perfect location for us being close to Bristol and well within striking distance of Wells, Bath and Weston Super Mare. There are plenty of more local attractions. We spent half a day at Chew Valley Lake and the nearby village of Chew Magna. The Dundry Arms and The Blue Bowl served excellent food and are both well worth a visit. The property met all our needs, was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen had all the consumables and equipment that we have at home with the exception of a washing machine. A nice touch was the Dolce Gusto coffee machine along with a selection of pods. The decked patio was a lovely place to relax with great views in all directions. The owner Richard was very friendly and always available on the rare occasions that we needed him. The welcome pack of fresh milk and eggs was very well received. We would definitely consider revisiting in future.

“The Annex was lovely, very well kitted out with everything you could need.”

Richard had even bought fans for every bedroom which was very much appreciated as it was very hot the week we were there and I don't think we would have slept well without them. The kids enjoyed the trampoline and slide that are there too. Richard is lovely and always on hand if you have any problems. A lovely stay in a very peaceful location. We would definitely return.

The hamlet of Dundry in Somerset enjoys a peaceful rural position, overlooking both Bristol City to the north and the Chew Valley Lakes/Mendips to the south. Dundry has two pubs with restaurants, and is ideally placed for enjoying all the countryside walks, cycle trails and scenery of this lovely area.
