Watermouth Castle, Harbour Apartment

On arriving the apartment looked lovely,wonderful views but no bath as was stated in the description of the property.

First night had a shower, there was no hot water pressure, the overhead shower just dripped and the hand held shower head had to be no higher than shoulder height for it to trickle out. Mentioned it to staff next day, lady came to see us to say it was all fixed but it was just the same for the whole week. We were told you had to expect these things from an old castle, old pipes etc. Following night all electric went off at 10pm did not come back until 8am. No torch provided and the heating and cold water wouldn't work. Next day the bottom oven was not working but fixed it while we went out for tea and because the weather was cold tried to put the electric fire on but that didn't work either. Apart from the lovely views the apartment was a disappointment and we won't be returning.

We found the amusement park and swimming pool to be a real bonus to the holiday, but felt that the apartment was not very child friendly as there were so many stairs.

We booked a cot and high chair which were not provided on arrival. The shower only provided cold water. There is no reception point and no staff on the premises after 4pm and the area has no phone reception, so we could do nothing but hope our 2 year old didn't fall out of bed. These faults were fixed next day although the shower continued to be a problem, but all the staff we could find seemed to be solely concerned with running the very fine amusement park and no-one was assigned to look after residents.

We had a fantastic week in the Harbour apartment.

Lovely and clean upon arrival. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Swimming pool was great. Castle amusement park is fantastic for children.The Storm in a Teacup Boat Cafe in the little harbour serves excellent food as does Sawmills pub just up the road. Highly recommend as a good place to stay.
