A great little hideaway in South Hams, with the coast and Dartmoor easily accessible.

Really cosy with everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Great for a female solo traveller I took myself off to Devon for a well needed solo break.

The Loft was cosy and clean. I felt very safe there, the location is brilliant for other beauty spots like Salcombe and Totnes. Lukesland Gardens is worth a visit too. The loft itself has lovely skylights that you can see so many stars from on a clear night. Good facilities and the wifi didn't fail me either as I needed to work from my laptop during the time I stayed. You have to visit The Ring Feeder Cafe, it is so lovely, staff were brilliant and the food is excellent too, tip, don't eat before your visit, the portions are really generous. I assume to stay here you would need to be able to drive and the pretty Devon roads can be quite unforgiving on your car if you have a little one like me. ALWAYS pay attention on these roads, you often have to stop to let vehicles through as the roads are quite narrow. Hot water was instantly available in the shower, bathroom and kitchen. I would recommend to any solo travellers looking to explore Devon. Another tip if you are not used to the country life, take wellies and comfy boots if travelling in winter. It's a fab place to stay and great value for money.

We loved the seating outside the back overlooking the hills. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable and has everything one needs. The owners are very friendly and quick to reply to Amy questions/requests.

Up there on our list of best places!! Very bright and airy, loved looking at the clouds through the velux and hearing the rain on them!

It was very nice very clean and just as it looked on the website it was ideal for us as a base as I wanted to visit places I used to go when I lived in the area thoroughly enjoyed our stay

We had a lovely 3 day stay and the property is well furnished, clean, comfortable & private.

An ideal stopover for us whilst we were visiting family. We advised the owner that the standard light in the lounge wasn't working (probably needed a new fuse or bulb?), the bathroom door creaked (probably needs some WD40 or adjustment) and the main kitchen tap was leaking from the joint when you ran water from it. All minor maintenance issues. On the whole we enjoyed our stay at Orchard Loft and would definitely book it again. :-)

The Orchard Loft is a fabulous base for exploring Devon and the hosts are really lovely people.

Everything was clean and in good order, the bed is comfortable and the shower is great. Although located down a very narrow lane, with quite a few steps to get up to the property, it is well worth the effort! We had a smashing holiday - thank you :)

Beautifully appointed gem of a place in wonderfully tranquil setting where you can relax in an elevated garden bathed in birdsong, apple blossom and a babbling brook!

Also a perfect base for exploring the nearby Salt Path - 100% recommended

Hosts were there if we needed anything.

We always cook as we don’t eat out and was all good but needed a new frying pan and can we recommend a splash guard! We had a lovely week, thanks.

An excellent place for a peaceful, stress free week.

The room was smaller than it appeared from the photographs but it had everything we needed. The views were beautiful, the fixtures and fittings high end, the overall impression, immaculate. Steps to the front door provided exercise! The Spar shop just up the road is amazing.

Once found, a really lovely little escape which I used as a base whilst doing a local falconry course as this property is only a couple of miles away.

I feel more up to date photos needed to display its current condition and a feather duster wouldn’t go a miss, however very cosy and comfortable and the local cider and biscuits left were very welcoming, thank you. The hosts were very friendly and their private woods are exquisite to walk through and the little upper garden to sit in and hear the birds and see the cows in the surrounding fields. The washing machine and tumble dryer are underneath in the garage for use. I would stay again if I attend another falconry course! Beautiful area, thank you

Orchard Loft is a great place to stay, very clean, comfortable and very well equipped.

We enjoyed our stay very much and visited lots of beautiful beaches and interesting towns.

wifi is very poor with no phone connection, there are about fifteen steps leading up to the property which are very slippy when wet, the location of the property and surrounding area can be very unforgiving for your car, but thats down to the council not the owner, alot of pot holes over grown brambles on the narrow lanes !!!!

Such a lovely setting in a Devon valley surrounded by trees and wildlife.

We found Orchard Loft spotlessly clean, well appointed and comfortable.

The loft is bright and airy with velux roof windows, and a pretty view of shrubs and trees from the full length picture window. Very quiet and peaceful surroundings.

A quiet place to stay.

Very comfortable accommodation. Very welcoming. Great spot to visit surrounding places. Made use of NT membership. Please note the list of facilities is a little misleading in regard to there being a freezer in the accommodation- only a fridge. Host did make available a freezer in the garage. This wasn't a problem for me.

Such a lovely setting in a valley surrounded by wildlife and trees.

It was lovely to have breakfast looking at the view. The accommodation was beautifully presented and had everything that you needed. It was also a great location, with easy access to the stunning coast and Dartmoor. We enjoyed several walks in the area and would highly recommend this property. We will be back at some point in the future.

This is a lovely, tranquil place to stay in a beautiful, rural hamlet, positioned just a couple of miles from the A38 but far enough away to have peace and tranquility which is just what I wanted.

Very tastefully decorated loft barn which is well insulated (I visited in December). Very comfortable bed. Would definitely return.

Clean on arrival and helpful host. Ideal as a quiet getaway. Night sky excellent, you can lay in bed and watch the Milky Way.

A Gem of a property in a great location

Enjoyable break

We loved our week in Orchard Loft - a perfect spot to relax and unwind although we did walk miles on the Dartmoor Way!

A gorgeous area; peaceful and lots of lovely places to visit within easy reach.

The property is well kept and quiet. Our only gripe was the bed was too hard for our personal taste. Check the gap down the outside door ( hinge side ) as can see daylight from the inside. Also, check the kitchen fan as appears to be some water getting through to the side of it ( damp patch) The chickens were a delight and kept us entertained. A wonderful walk in the wood beyond the property carpeted with bluebells and wild garlic. Had a tastly and substantial meal at the pub at the top of the road ( California Inn) friendly staff. Was the break we needed to recharge, within peaceful surroundings.

The location of the property was delightful, an idyllic village nestling in the classically undulating Devon countryside.

So quiet that you could imagine you were transported back in time. A beautiful place to unwind, walk and shed the pressures of modern day living. All the necessities for cooking, relaxing, entertainment (TV) and internet access provided along with really comfortable bed and beautifully presented décor and fixtures. Only a short drive to Salcombe with its beautiful coastline. Close to Plymouth and all that Devon and Cornwall offer. A brilliant stay with delightfully helpful hosts. Lovely.

Lovely property, clean and well equipped .

The owners were friendly and even included me in their jubilee celebrations which was very kind of them. The property is conveniently situated for getting around the area and visiting lots of places eg Dartmouth, Salcombe ,Totnes and the National trust properties in the area.

We felt the property was perfect for what we wanted - a cosy feeling, all the essentials + a few extras for us to come back to after exploring the area during the day.

We enjoyed the special touches added (some milk, juice and biscuits at arrival). Nice to see the drawers are equipped with many supplies, so if you were staying for longer and were caught on a rainy day - you could even bake a cake! The cottage is built on top of a garage, and while the owners try to be as considerate as possible, it can be a bit loud in the morning if you are a noise-sensitive sleeper and want a lie-in. I personally struggled with the pillows as they were too soft and gave me a neckache, however, my partner had no issues with them. The view from the cottage is so beautiful and picturesque, it was a delight to have your morning drink at the table or at the outside area. The location was convenient enough for us to drive into Totnes, Brixham, Torquey and Dartmoor. We have already recommended Orchard Loft to relatives and would definitely come back again!

Everything bright & clean. It had everything we needed & more. A previous guest description was Scandi Style which is right. The property is very well situated to visit the area.

Great location for exploring S. Devon. Parking’s a bit tight everything else was ideal for a getaway.

Really enjoyed our week long stay at Orchard Loft.

The owners are welcoming and friendly. The place was very roomy and clean. It is central to everywhere we wanted to go, such as Dartmoor National Park and some of the local seaside towns (Dartmouth, Bigbury-on-sea) so was perfect for what we needed. Luckily the weather was on our side for mid November and were able to go to everywhere we wanted to see, including a number of the Tors across Dartmoor. On our first night we went to the local pub "California Inn", which we'd highly recommend. Our only disappointments were to find out the Freezer and Washing Machine are in the garage underneath the loft and were inaccessible (due to Covid restrictions) which should be stated on the listing. We also found the bed, especially the pillows, to be uncomfortable. But these shouldn't put you off staying at Orchard Loft and we would very highly recommend choosing to stay here.

Generally very positive in fact our major complaint would be that cookware and plates were a little oversized for the dishwasher

It was a very nice stay.

The property was delightful and we were pleasantly surprised to find a some very tasty biscuits and a bottle of elderflower drink on arrival. The location was a bit hard to find but it wasn't to bad and obviously you need a care to get around. All in all it was a fantastic stay my only qualm was there was a dishwasher there wich didn't work at the time of our stay and so on the day of check out I had to wash everything up as the machine hadn't and that mad check out a bit to rushed for my liking.

The apartment was well appointed and very pleasant.

It could have been a little better dusted and the bed was too soft for us. Lovely location but could have done with some outside space to sit in in the evening - perhaps the full length windows could be turned into french doors.

Really great hosts and a lovely space to stay

At my recent Sykes holiday cottage I paid for the use of a communal freezer and washing machine facilities for use for me holidaying alone and perhaps the owners of the property next door.

Upon my arrival I was instructed NOT to use either of these facilities due to the Covid pandemic! - Very slightly possibly a wise precaution but it was very inconvenient and a questionable excuse considering I was by myself and cleaning clothes half way through a week’s holiday and having purchased frozen meals to avoid too many shopping trips in the low infected Devon region away from my home area flew in the face of total self sanitation and self isolation was made that more difficult! Considering that at a similar Sykes holiday cottage where I paid a similar price just a month earlier and where both these facilities were provided I felt I was owed a reasonable refund? My only other complaint for this cottage and several others that are advertised with Sykes as having TVs is that I often have to load my own reasonable sized TV into my car to connect up and swap over with the unreasonably small TV provided by the particular cottage I have just stayed and very many others that I have experienced or indeed discounted after the picture shows a pathetically small TV. At my retired age with less than 20/20 vision, I feel discriminated against for not being able to enjoy a large screen TV of at least 46 ins that would easily fit most cottages and are so relatively cheap these days to purchase in bulk - and are very pleasing to watch for mature patrons when the weather is so bad in Mid Devon! There was a lovely 65 inch one at my previous cottage in North Yorkshire in cold April! I can add that without children to bath and holidaying outside seasonal summer ‘global warming’ affected weather we DO NOT need or find good value for money any cottages featuring these expensive luxuries!! According to your ‘holiday experts’ since returning from both my recent holidays I have been removed (inexplicably to me) from my preferred email contact preference so apparently I was unable to be supplied my ‘Level 3’ loyalty reward of £40 discount on my intended next booking with Sykes that was advertised by email to use within a set time after my return from both my holidays and the offers have now expired! I have complained twice now by phone and after the second complaint was assured a return call that did NOT materialise so I am VERY disappointed this early into the holiday season! It also appears to me that some of your cottage owners are hiking up their prices for the same week next year compared with what was advertised this poor year? I do realise that it has been very hard for holiday businesses during the past two seasons and in respect of self catering holidays perhaps somewhat unreasonable restrictions were imposed but I do not feel it is fair to make the loyal customers who also suffered disappointment or maybe illness or bereavement to have to help recoup the losses felt by Sykes or the cottage owners. Please consider replying to my criticism by email.

There is an excellent Spar general store for food, papers.

Also a petrol station within 300 metres at the California Cross.

Orchard loftt was a delight, warm and cosy with everything we needed.

Beautiful views from the garden with a lovely place to sit. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend it.

The Orchard Loft is set in a lovely peaceful location just a short drive down a narrow lane.

The place is very modern inside and has a well equipped kitchen. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a choice of 2 shower heads to use in the corner shower cubicle both producing a good pressure of water. It was an extremely comfortable and cosy place which was lovely to return to after being out for the day. I would definitely stay here again if visiting the area.

A haven of peace to escape these surreal times for a while, with helpful & pleasant hosts to advise if any local information required.

Orchard Loft is very comfortable and cosy.

It rained for most of our week so we spent more time indoors than usual, but the facilities were good and we could relax and enjoy a peaceful, quiet spot. The area around has lots of interesting places to visit.and shopping and pubs were no problem.The autumn week was booked because we were attending a local wedding. The owners were very friendly and helpful and we would highly recommend the Loft.
