“We arrived in Dartmoor with our two dogs for a five-day hiking trip and chose this property accordingly.”

The house is exceptionally spacious and equipped with everything you could possibly need after a long, muddy, windy and rainy day out on the moor. The house is exceptionally spacious and equipped with everything you could possibly need after a long, muddy, windy and rainy day out on the moor. There’s a huge fridge-freezer, a fully equipped kitchen for completely hassle-free self-catering, and even a washer-dryer. The bathtub is also large, with instant hot water — perfect for relaxing after a tough day on the trails. Parking is safe and easy, in an incredibly peaceful area where the only sounds at night are cows, owls and the occasional meow. Behind the house there’s a small, fully enclosed courtyard with flowers and garden furniture — ideal for letting the dogs out safely. Location-wise, the property is a real gem: within 20–30 minutes’ drive you can reach countless highlights across the moor, and even the far side of the National Park is just about an hour away. Supermarkets and petrol stations are within 10 minutes, so it’s perfect for anyone wanting to retreat into nature while still being able to cook for themselves and stock up locally. The owners are completely unobtrusive, yet live on the other side of the building, so if anything were to come up, help would be immediate — though in our case, everything was flawless and we never needed to disturb them. We were truly satisfied, and when we return to the moor (soon!), we’ll definitely stay here again. Thanks, Tom and Veronika
