    “We stayed a week with amazing heatwave weather.”

    We were slightly disappointed that no sun loungers were available as the pictures showed some in the garden, which would have been welcomed. The help email quickly responded to our questions about this. The accommodation was well proportioned, appointed and clean and tidy. We spent most days out but returned for evening meals. The location is fairly off the beaten track so would suit walkers, cyclists and drivers with a 4x4 - we liked the seclusion as it’s very peaceful but near to a ...

The location is fairly off the beaten track so would suit walkers, cyclists and drivers with a 4x4 - we liked the seclusion as it’s very peaceful but near to a working farm so beware of tractors looking out for passing places as most planes are single track. A fantastic part of North Devon all made for a pleasant stay with fabulous weather to boot !

The property

Tucked away amongst flower-filled meadows down country lanes, 5½ miles from Clovelly and one field back from the magnificent coast (Coast Path), a gorgeous cottage converted from old barns.

It has been revamped to provide beautiful and stylish accommodation, with close attention to detail making it an exceptional off-the-beaten-track haven for peace and tranquillity.

Approached over a gravelled path and down 7 steps, it is on the corner of a number of cottages, with its own neat, private side garden (table/chairs).

Hall with tiled floor and space for coats/boots.

Two ground-floor bedrooms - a double (5' bed, footboard), and a single (footboard) with compact en suite shower-room (suite); bathroom (suite, shower over bath, washer-drier in cupboard).

Stairs up to open-plan living/dining/kitchen (slimline dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, electric oven/ihalogen hob) with Amtico flooring, lofty ceilings with beams, TV/DVD and French windows to steps down to the garden.

A stunning cottage, 100 yards from a National Trust footpath to the coast. Clovelly: famous, cobbled, cliffside, traffic-free village (pubs, museum/shop) with picturesque 16th century cottages winding down to small harbour (seasonal fishing/day trips to Lundy Island).

Family adventure parks, 1½ and 10 miles; Woolfardisworthy (shop), 4; Hartland (shops, pubs), 6; Bideford (town) and Westward Ho! (big beach), 10; shopping village, 10; Bude (sand/surf beaches), 15.

The picturesque fishing village of Clovelly occupies a secluded, cliffside position and attracts visitors from the world over. A pedestrianised, cobbled street winds its way down the hillside passing the colourful gardens that characterise the village's pretty, whitewashed cottages, on its way down to the sheltered harbour. Local shops, pubs and restaurants crowd the working harbour from where the local fishermen show their daily catch of mackerel and check their lobster pots. Follow the stunning coast over the clifftops toward the romantic Hartland Point, or to the colourful market town of Bideford, with its quaint quay, medieval bridge and vibrant shopping area. Nearby, the famous Westward Ho! provides superb beaches and excellent watersports opportunities, while the Big Sheep Adventure Park will occupy the whole family!
