Lovely modern house.

Very clean and comfortable and only a short drive into Dawlish. Everything was very positive except for three things. There was only one television which, for a property for up to six people, was not great. The lighting in the kitchen, above the hob on the island, was not bright enough to cook and the duvets in the bedrooms were much too thick for the summer.

We had a fantastic stay at this property and would highly recommend it.

The accommodation was spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable, stress-free holiday with 3 children. The highlight of our trip was having access to the private beach—it felt like a luxury to have such a beautiful spot so close by. The location is perfect for exploring; we were within easy walking distance of the local town and could easily get to the coastal path for a walk into Teinmough. The property is in a good local for exploring Devon.

We were very impressed with Sail Loft even before we arrived as we received a welcome letter via email from Sharon and Andy with lots of helpful information regarding the property and suggestions for days out and places to eat.

During the holiday they also text to check everything was ok. A very lovely touch and much appreciated. The property is superb and suited our family perfectly - grandparents, daughter and granddaughter. We loved the private beach and visited several times, having it to ourselves each time felt so special. The property is in a wonderful location. We walked into Dawlish on 3 occasions. On the way back we always stopped and rested at the benches and enjoyed the views.The train service to Exeter was great, where we enjoyed exploring the quays area. We can recommend Topsham Brewery with a good choice of ciders. We also visited Teignmouth and had fun in the arcade on the pier as well as tasty fish and chips. We had wonderful sunny weather and really enjoyed our stay at Sail Loft. Thank you Sharon and Andy for creating such a lovely holiday home.

Sail loft was a comfy and homely place to stay with all the home comforts and incredibly clean it’s set in a lovely and central location with Dawlish a 15 min walk The only downside was my dad who has limited mobility was unable to access the beach due to the steep steps appreciate there is nothing that can be done but may be worth noting on the listing that young children and the elderly may struggle to access the beach

Excellent accommodation Stayed in mid-June.

Modern property and facilities, quiet, and excellently located with good bus service only 50 metres from property and south west coastal path in both directions from property's gated entrance. Easy 15-20 minutes walk along good coastal path downhill to Dawlish, and nice 50-60 minutes path/promenade walk to Teignmouth. Good train service as well, didn't need car at all apart from one trip to Sainsbury's. Friendly, helpful owners. Access to cove still blocked, but walked to viewpoint. The construction work is not too near property, so noise is very minimal, only heard one lorry and van arrive at 7am on Mon morning and one at 7.30 Fri morning, that's it, so no real bother. Really enjoyable holiday.

Just home from a very enjoyable week at the sail loft.

The accommodation is wonderful with everything you need and more. Host checked that everything was as it should be on arrival day with a welcome text. Accommodation perfectly placed for visiting surroundings. Definitely will be returning.

Wonderful property on the outskirts of Dawlish in a gated neighbourhood.

A car is a must to enable local and further visits. It is less than a mile to walk downhill to the centre of Dawlish but the return journey is all uphill and excludes anyone who is not fully fit. The property is extremely well built and fitted with all latest equipment and is tastefully decorated making it very cosy and warm. In hot weather the provided fans are an essential benefit considering the ventilation requires opening of the glazed windows thereby allowing traffic noise from the nearby road to be heard. The beds are extremely comfortable with a choice of pillows offered. Be mindful that the access to the secluded beach is achieved by means of many steps and was not open during our visit due to recent land slips. The gated area is also in development with some further properties planned to be built over the once grassed central area. Fortunately Sail Loft is positioned such that the disruption from the construction site during the day is minimal. However be mindful that the construction gangs enter and leave the compound early in the morning causing some inconvenience. There is a quooker tap provided allowing instant boiling water which needs great care during use. We thoroughly enjoyed the property and considered it a superb location for visiting the delights of Devon.

We had a wonderful time at sail loft everything was as described on the website, if there was anything we would like to change it would be tv,s in the bedrooms and maybe a comfortable lounge chair as an extra.

The accommodation is very modern and is extremely well-equipped.

The owners were quick to resolve a very minor issue we had. I had a slight issue with traffic noise but quickly became accustomed to it after the first night, and no-one else seemed to have a problem with it! Without doubt it's one of the best places we have stayed at. We certainly wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Absolutely a must stay this place is beautiful, everything you could need is there.

The walk down to the view point is lovely and the views stunning. The weather wasn’t that good to us but that didn’t matter as it was a pleasure to stay in watch a film or there is a good choice of games and books for all ages. Sail Loft is a credit to Andy & Sharon who are amazing hosts.

Sails loft is the best place we have stayed in open space clean and well equipped with all needs met and more, modern living at its best owners messaged to see if we needed anything and were their if we needed.

Myself,Di Jess,Sam and grandson Max stayed at Sail Loft August bank holiday week.

This was our third successive stay at the property having stayed previously in July 23 and August 24. As other reviewers have stated, the property is modern, spacious, luxurious, well maintained.We so enjoyed our first visit in 2023 we had no hesitation in returning in 2024 and last week as we all agreed that the property was the best we had ever stayed in. Just a five minute drive into Dawlish, a superb location to explore the Torbay coast , scenic railway running through Dawlish and by the sea along the coast . Own private beach to venture down to ,if able to manage the steep steps down to it, well worth a visit. Great pub the Smugglers just a five minutes walk away, good meals and views from the pub. It was a pleasure to speak again to owners Sharon and Andy who were so helpful again , nothing was too much trouble to assist us, the owners have this year installed a charging point in the parking area which was very convenient to use when required, Sharon was so very helpful in enabling this to happen. As explained, we love staying at and returning to Sail Loft and the property is a credit to Sharon and Andy. Would recommend this property very strongly to anybody planning to stay in the Dawlish area.

The Sail Loft is a fabulous property in a great position between Dawlish and Teignmouth which is a super resort.

We were a group of six - four adults a fourteen and a ten year old - the house was spacious and comfortable for us. We had food at the nearby Smugglers pub and would recommend the carvery. A visit to Exeter was a hit. A super city with great selection of shops and only approx 35 min drive. The outside area of the house got lots of sun and is nicely furnished. The private beach did not draw us back a second time though - perhaps we imagined it to be far prettier than in reality. The train station in Dawlish was helpful to get to Torquey and we were very lucky with the weather overall. Would recommend to family and friends.

Beautiful quality property with owners who were easy to contact and responded promptly to any questions.

Wished there had been a washing-up bowl to hand wash the odd items

This property and it's surrounding are just perfect for our family holiday, there is everything thing you need inside furnished beautifully lots of space everywhere is finished to a very high standard.

The outside living space and furniture is fantastic and such a sun trap. As you walk down to the gated communities private beach the view is stunning (the steps are not for the faint hearted) well worth the effort though the cove is so peaceful.

The property is lovely and clean, and is in an ideal location for a family holiday. It really is a sun trap with beautiful views from the bedroom of the sea. The owners are very attentive and will do all they can to help. There is so much to do in the area, and with the train station so close in Dawlish, we explored further afield too. The private beach is a super addition, making it even more special. We would highly recommend The Smugglers Inn for an evening meal and breakfast, the staff were fab! We were sad to leave and would return in a heartbeat! Thank you for a wonderful holiday

Sail Loft is a lovely property, and extremely well equipped and furnished.

, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and exploring the surrounding area. We did have some issues regarding accessing the beach, due to changeover from padlocked gates with codes to an electronic key fob. No problems with top gate, but key fob did not work on bottom gate, but hopefully this is now resolved. Additionally photo of tables and chairs overlooking the sea is slightly disingenuous, it is not at the bottom of your garden, as we assumed, but a communal space on the beach path. The owners were exceedingly helpful offering information and assistance over and above that provided by Sykes, and we would highly recommend Sail Loft for a lovely holiday.

The house itself was very clean and modern and spacious, however we were initially disappointed as its very overlooked by neighbours and the pictures online gave us impression that the beach path was in front of house, maybe just shared with neighbour.

It's also right by a road , no view and quite noisy. Inside we felt there was lack of storage/hanging space in the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms considering it's 3 double bedrooms. Our daughter had to share our wardrobe and her boyfriend lived out of a suitcase. In main bedroom there was only one accessible double plug socket and as we had to have fan on constantly that left one plug for chargers or hairdryer etc. And no plug on landing. A few other niggles was that there was no kitchen scales ( wanted to cook pasta one night ,just had to guess) and could have done with some basics like foil/cling film . Also no toilet roll holders . Ran out of hand wash and washing up liquid and toilet roll quite quickly so had to buy all these things. Overall we did have lovely time and did use the beach, however I think you need to mention this would not be accessible to elderly or disabled as lots of steep steps.

We have just returned home from a lovely week away.

Sail Loft exceeded our expectations! A beautiful home. I say home as that's how it felt to us, not holiday accommodation. It had everything we needed and some. We thoroughly enjoyed the private beach and spent a couple of evenings swimming and watching the sun set. There's lots to do close by and Dawlish beach and shops is within walking distance. We couldn't have asked for more. We will definitely be back.

Sail Loft accommodation is superb.

Everything is clean and well presented. The hosts checked in to make sure we had everything we needed and responded to my message when I had a question. Everything seems to have been thought of if you are looking to dine at the accommodation with good quality products. There is one allocated parking space within the complex, which is less than a 1 min walk from the property. There is also off main road parking just outside the gates. The location is relaxing and peaceful. Roughly 5 mins in the car from Dawlish and 10 mins from Teignmouth. It's a great base to discover Devon. There is a local pub a couple of mins walk from the accommodation with friendly staff and the food is good. The private beach is located down a number of steep steps. We were the only people on the beach when we visited it. We had a great time and would highly recommend if you are looking for a peaceful base to enjoy everything Devon has to offer

We are just back from a wonderful week at the Sail Loft and have already recommended it to our friends!

A wonderful, modern, clean and comfortable accommodation, well appointed with everything you will need for a fantastic week by the Devon coast. The spacious property has a wonderful open planned living arrangement downstairs, the kitchen had everything we needed and more, there's even an air fryer if that's your thing! High end appliances and an induction hob made cooking for our family enjoyable, the laundry room with extra fridge was a massive bonus, meaning we could keep all of those extra drinks cool and get some washing done mid-week to reduce the load when we got home! Many comfortable evenings were spent in the lounge after enjoying dinner at the table inside or dining al-fresco at the table in the courtyard garden, the kids (7 & 13) had their choice of films and programs, not that we spent much time watching TV as they all loved spending time at the private beach! The beach is a 10 minute walk down the private coastal path and through a small wooded area, landing us on the lovely red sand and shingle beach (The stairs are steep but well maintained with a hand rail and lots of spots to stop to take in the view or to take a breather when going back up!!) We all loved spending time at the beach which we had to ourselves most days, picnic lunches, BBQ’s and a glass of wine, while the kids explored the cove and swam in the sea. Venturing further afield, Dawlish was a 15-20 minute walk, we went via the coastal path and through the park areas, again the kids loved exploring the beach and piers, we even saw a steam train coming through on Brunel's railway! After a morning of fun, we headed up through the central park area, where we spotted the famous black swans and saw the duck hatchery, my youngest fell in love with the baby ducks and wanted to bring one home! Instead we settled for treats from Gay's Creamery, and enjoyed a wonderful Devon Cream tea on the banks of the stream. There were lots of places to eat and traditional fish and chips shops too. We also headed into Teignmouth and Dawlish Warren, both were a little further so we opted to drive, Teignmouth is a lovely seaside town, with old pubs and great bakeries serving traditional Devon Pasties, something we had to do, purchased and eaten while looking out over the estuary. Dawlish Warren was popular with our eldest, funfair rides and amusements! We were pleasantly surprised around the cost of the rides - 1 token per ride and 12 tokens for £20, both children had a great time. After busy days exploring and comfortable evenings, we were welcomed by the lovely bedrooms upstairs, our bed was very comfortable and after lots of fresh air, we slept superbly well, the house was lovely and warm but there were also fans in each bedroom if it got too warm, and nice big windows to let in fresh air, there is a little road noise, but hardly anything at night and it certainly did not disturb us. We cannot recommend the Sail Loft enough, not only is it a beautiful, clean and modern place to stay, there is also plenty to do in close proximity. The icing on the cake is the wonderful communication and friendliness (via text message) of the owners, they assured our stay went well and when we needed to ask a question, they were quick to reply. Our children are already asking to go back and it will certainly be on our list for another visit in the future!

Garden very attractive, comfortable furniture, definite sun trap. Easy access to Dawlish and Teignmouth, good train service. Walk to secluded beach is quite steep but possible.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at Sail Loft.

It was a fantastic well positioned property. Very clean, warm, comfortable house. Well equipped with great attention to detail, modern and tasteful decor. All crockery, cutlery and glasses were matching, a real treat. The owner contacted us after a couple of days to check everything was ok, which was a nice touch. Stayed at many Sykes Cottages and this was one of the best.

We had enjoyed a fabulous stay at Sail Loft in July 2023 and we had agreed that if circumstances allowed , we would like to return in 2024 which we did. We all agreed that our stay in 2023 was the best property we have ever stayed in and we have stopped on plenty of great properties over the years. The property is very luxurious in a great location , the fixtures and fittings of the highest quality , situated just a few minutes from Town and a good base to travel to other holiday places across South Devon. A good pub called Smugglers Inn a few minutes walk away with views of the sea serving excellent meals is well worth a visit. Already looking to return again in 2025 , would certainly recommend this property to anybody looking to holiday in South Devon

We have stayed in many nice holiday properties around the country over the years but this is without exception the best one yet!

The property is visually stunning from the outside and the interior glamorously stunning. It is equipped with the very best available to make the stay as enjoyable as possible and I can not think of anything else that we could need. To add to it all it is situated in one of our most favourite areas of the country and gives easy access to all that South Devon has to offer. The hardest part of the holiday was leaving! Great facilities, everything you needed in the Kitchen, should you choose to dine in and easy to follow appliance instructions. The owner information pack was extremely useful and accurate as was the information we received from the owners prior to arrival. We all really enjoyed relaxing in the garden when the sun allowed, it’s a real sun trap! Great location for exploring Devon, had some great walks on the south west coastal path, which was on the doorstep, and would recommend The Smugglers Inn for food and views. We had a great time at Sail Loft and would love to stay again and would definitely highly recommend! It made the holiday Perfect.

This holiday property is one of the best we have stayed in.

It has all the home comforts you could wish for including comfortable furniture and beds and Sky Glass. The electric charging was very important part of booking this holiday home which not many properties have. When I go on holiday I like to have all the comforts I have in my own home and this holiday home fitted the bill.

We loved the property and the facilities/equipment provided were of an extremely high spec.

The welcome pack was lovely and the information in the property was really useful. Owners were very helpful about setting up ev charging too. I have taken off one star though because a big part of the appeal for us was the promise of a path down to shell cove beach. I appreciate the path being closed was out of the owners’ control but it did detract from the overall experience and we didn’t know of the situation until just before arrival.

We spent a lovely week at Sail Loft and agree it is the best property we have stayed in.

It is large, bright and very comfortable. Furniture and fittings are top quality and we wanted for nothing. It is very close to Dawlish and Teignmouth so we enjoyed a lot of time at both. The outdoor space is perfect and we really did not want to leave. I wouldn't hesitate to book this place if you are looking for a modern, comfortable house as a base for a break. Absolutely beautiful house in a great location.

Very modern design with some lovely design touches in the decor. Only 0.9 of a mile from Dawlish train station on the mainline which made for a relaxing holiday. Inside a gated complex and in a quiet location. Great communications from the owners and a lovely welcome pack on arrival. The house was also absolutely spotless. We would very happily stay there again and there were zero complaints during our wonderful stay there. I would recommend it.

A lovely property equipped with high end appliances and easy to follow instructions.

Enjoyed the welcome pack especially the locally produced honey. We really enjoyed our stay. Getting around was very easy as the bus stop was just outside the property with frequent services. In fact we hardly needed to use the car. National rail are still carrying out extensive work on the cliffs so could not access the cove. Easy walking access to other coastal paths. Highly recommended property.

A superbly appointed rental.

Thoughly enjoyed our stay (didn't want to leave). The generous welcome pack set the tone from the time we arrived. Very good location. Smugglers Inn pub 5min walk for good pub grub. Teignmouth and Dawlish both in easy reach. Dawlish walkable but the trudge back up the hill might be a bit much for some. Good location for exploring much of South and East Devon, Dartmoor etc. I grew up in the area and would not hesitate to book Sail Loft again. Absolutely no complaints.

Holiday cottage was exactly as described.

This is the second time we stayed here and we really enjoyed it.

Sail Loft is genuinely one of the best places we've stayed at - a thoroughly modern new build in a great location on the southern edge of Dawlish, in a gated development overlooking the sea.

We were impressed with all the facilities (for example we've never stayed in a holiday let with a Quooker tap or a Dyson hairdryer before!) and all the little details and touches - it's clearly important to the owners that guests really enjoy their stay, and am happy to report we loved it. Once we shake off this cold weather and the bi-fold doors can be fully opened, that patio is going to be a wonderful sun trap and summer guests are in for a treat! Thank you for our wonderful stay.

A really first class house, spacious, comfortable and tastefully furnished and decorated. The property is exactly like the photos and was spotlessly clean. Great kitchen facilities with everything you need should you choose to dine in (as we did) and easy to follow appliance instructions. Big beds which were super comfy and inviting, providing a great nights sleep with blackout blinds. The owner information pack was extremely useful and accurate as was the information we received from the owners prior to arrival. We really enjoyed relaxing in the tropical garden when the sun allowed, it’s a real sun trap! Had a lovely time on the estates beach, very private and quiet with lovely views from the seating at the cliff top. Great location for exploring Devon, had some great walks on the south west coastal path, which was on the doorstep, and would recommend The Ness at Sheldon for food and views (an hours walk, fab.) We had a great time at Sail Loft and would love to stay again and would definitely highly recommend! We loved it!

On arrival though check in was from 3pm we had to wait for 10 mins as cleaner was running behind.

The photos were deceptive, had to walk through the front garden to the house which is the only area to sit, we did have a nice time but things could be improved there needs to be either vertical blinds, net curtains or privacy film put on windows as there is no privacy in bedrooms if you wish to relax with the blinds up especially the master bedroom and the bedroom facing the main road. The master bedroom was right by the gated entrance so be aware you will need the blinds down most of the time. The kitchen was OK but needed sharper knives for cooking and tongs, everything was quite high which if your vertically challenged may be a issue. The welcome pack should have all appliance instructions which is usually supplied in every house we have been to, it says everything is self explanatory but not really we had to Google how to use the ovens. Beds and pillows very soft so maybe have a couple of firmer ones to give people a choice. According to your website listing it looks like the private seating area overlooked sea is part of the house which it is not, it is on part of the walk to the private beach which if you have mobility issues is not easy to get to, you have to walk downalot of very steep steps then under the railway, when you get to the other side its abit overgrown I don't think going down and back up will be easy if your carrying beach stuff with you, also there is building work going on at the estate because of the cliff workers which isn't listed. Lovely walk along coastal path to dawlish but steep coming back up though the views make up for it. All in all we had a nice time I'm just being picky but think slight improvements would help other people.

Sail Loft is a lovely house, very well presented and with everything you could need for a holiday home We did not cook but everything was on site should you chose to.

The house is very comfortable and the location is quiet The beach was fun and empty every time we visited, although this may be due to the "summer weather". Had a very minor issue that was very quickly attended to - could not ask for better response. Dawlish is a good 10-15 minute walk away, although its all up hill on the way back! Really enjoyed our stay and would be happy to recommend

Sail Loft - Pinnacle of luxury and comfort all in one place!

First impression was Wow. It’s as the pictures show very stylish. Also, comfortable, clean and relaxing. The info pack was helpful, always like to know how everything works. We were a family group of six and it was big enough to enjoy eating together and then relaxing on the sofa and the big bean bag after a full day of exploring the area. There’s a handy extra fridge in the utility room we used for drinks, needed after navigating some of the Devon back roads! The private beach is worth the walk down, we found some sea glass to keep as a memento of our stay. We love Devon and have been exploring it for years and we would love to return to the Sail Loft.

Sail Loft was an amazing property,everything inside and outside was top class.

The property was so comfortable and spotlessly clean, a credit to the owners . Me my wife daughter and four year old grandson stayed for the week and did not want to leave to come home.We really could not have stayed in a better property. We had a fantastic stay at Sail Loft, the house is very comfortable with excellent facilities.

Five adults stayed and there is more than enough space for all of us. The beach is a must, with a table and chairs on the walk down to sit and enjoy the view. The Smugglers Inn is well worth a visit for a meal, and only a five minute walk away! We would definitely stay at Sail Loft again.

An outstanding property, the facilities fixtures & fittings are first rate and the property is beutifully decorated.

The property is well fitted out with quality equipment and all needs met, extremely comfortable and enjoyable stay.

It was a pleasure to stay in such a well appointed house.

However it would be very helpful if all the household information was in one folder. We did not learn that the beach gate had a padlock until we went there but fortunately a neighbour gave us the combination. We have left that information for future guests.

Nice place to stay, quiet and comfortable.

Sail Loft is a modern property, ideally situated for exploring the Torbay area, half an hour from Exeter, Torquay and many other places, and within walking distance of Teignmouth and Dawlish.

It's ideal for adults or a family with older children, as there is a lot of glass and pale furnishing in the property. There is a private beach area; the walk down to it is steep in places but well worth the effort when you get there. Sail Loft is well equipped, and the owners responded immediately when I requested a cafetiere - it arrived on the doorstep the next day.

The Sail Loft is an amazing choice for anyone wanting to enjoy Devon.

We (2 couples) spent a week there in January 2023. The property is exactly like the photos, and the cleanliness is outstanding. The property is furnished very tastefully, and feels very exclusive. The owners have thought of everything that you might need, including kitchen utensils, great pots and pans for cooking, and even a portable Bose speaker for you to use around the property or out on the beach! We had 2 minor issues whilst at the property. We text Sharon and the issue was resolved immediately, without any problems or interrupting our stay. She even threw in a couple of restaurant recommendations whilst at it! All of us would recommend the Sail Loft to anyone without hesitation. It is a beautiful home from home where we were able to relax and socialise effortlessly. We loved it!

It was stylish and super clean . The hosts were very quick and helpful with some issues we had which was appreciated. The location is great for sightseeing in the area.
