Boasting a location within Exmoor National Park and close to the coast, this property offers both a rural retreat and sunny beach holiday for families, friends and two furry companions.

Step inside a stunningly-presented home with tasteful furnishing and decor where you'll find a living/dining room with a woodburning stove you can warm up by while you watch a movie on the Smart TV or have a family game night around the table.

Moving in to the country-style kitchen, you'll find everything you'll need to cook up a feast and enjoy it out on the terraced garden with its breathtaking, sweeping views of the ocean.

When the sun sets, unwind with a hot shower in the bathroom then retreat to one of two nicely-presented bedrooms to catch your rest.

In the village centre of Porlock you'll find a small selection of eateries such as The Royal Oak pub for an indulgent meal, The Old Library Cafe for some local seafood and Whortleberry Tea Room for a lighter lunch or afternoon tea.

Branch out to the coastal town of Minehead for a lazy day spent at Minehead Beach, an afternoon at Splash Waterworld park, and head to Channel Adventure for an exciting day of kayaking and canoeing.

Treat your loved one to a delicious dinner at Firehouse Grill before heading back to the cottage.

A scenic drive will take you to the picturesque village of Dunster where you can visit the 12th-century National Trust - Dunster Castle and Watermill, make sure to pack some lunch for a picnic in the stunning gardens.

Then, for a touch of history make your way over to The Medieval Gallery, Britain’s only fine art gallery inspired by the Middle Ages and end the day by dining at Cobblestones Dunster with its outdoor seating area for when its sunny out.

About the location

Minehead 5.5 miles; Lynton 11 miles.

Porlock is a quaint village, popular with tourists due its character, proximity to the lovely North Somerset coastline and situation within the Exmoor National Park. There are plenty of little gift shops along with pubs, cafes and restaurants to be found and only two miles away, the picturesque harbour of Porlock Weir offers wonderful views across the Bristol Channel. The Porlock Hill takes travelers up a steep, winding road out of the village to the Exmoor Hills, where walkers, horse riders and cyclists will love the open space, where ponies and red deer roam the moors. In 2011, Exmoor was designated as Europe’s first International Dark Skies Reserve, and so this is an excellent base for a romantic evening spent gazing at the stars, where a clear night unveils an abundance of interesting constellations to the naked eye. Porlock offers the choice of sea fishing from the weir, and the reservoirs and rivers of Exmoor are only a short, scenic drive away. Golfers can stay in Porlock and enjoy one of the several courses on the edges of Exmoor, with the nearest only seven miles away. The medieval village of Dunster, where the castle dominates the skyline, makes a great day out, or take a ride on the West Somerset steam train along the coast to the little harbour village of Watchet. A fabulous village location with lots of outdoor pursuits to interest every visitor.
